WTF?

Some of you people are f***ing morons. The one that really got me, said that he didn't like the game because The name was inaccurate. One review said it wasn't as good a other mmorpg's because you could only play as a human.(no, he wasn't a 12yo social retard) I mean really, one of my big problems with other online rpg's was the fact that they were to fantasy based, and just plain kid game based. No true gamer will play mmorpg's because they're filled with moron kids without jobs, or lives for that matter. One big reason I love Guildwars is because it has normal people with normal lives, so what if they can only play an hour a day or once a week, these are my people. These people are the people who go from playing guild wars to Counter Strike. Not to mention the game being well built fun and interactive for people with said lives.

The Best RPG Since Diablo 2

There really is only one way to describe Guild Wars; Fantastic. It is by far the best game I have played in ages.
For starters it is the first game in a long time that I have not had to wait for a patch in order for it to work.
The game play is incredible, and the graphics are great.

One thing please pay attention to the system requirements on the box. Many people don't and then wonder why their games don't work.

additive fun

Having a blast with this game. A good amount of options for character types but not an overwhelming amount to learn. Interface is great and gameplay is very addictive. I've never played a MMOG before - but with no fees theres no reason not to try this one.

Occasionally the pathfinding can be a bit dodgy - but that is literally my only complaint. Visually stunning and has never crashed once!

Go get this game at once.

BEST GAME YET

I have to say this game is the best in online play i have seen yet. You have to get people to join u or it isnt that fun. The game play is awesome the storyline is great and even though it is a linear storyline it takes different paths dependin on your profession. Definately a buy and WARNING!!!! very addictive

I have played computer games since the 80's with commodore 64 and really got into them in 1997 with diablo 1. SInce I have played all the diablo games, dark age of camelot for 2 years and later for 6 month world of warcraft. I like guild wars the best as it is stable and has very few issues and its the most fun I have had on a game in years. The item generator mixed with the security and the fun adventures plus a non pay month per month basis like all the other MMORPG makes this game the best out there. Buy it!!

Was a fantastic game, now ruined by bad updates

This used to be a great, fun game that could be played with a cooperative team or with NPC henchman if you weren't inclined to wait around to get a group together. With the new update (released in the beginning of November) some classes have been rendered rather useless, and it is nearly impossible to accomplish anything with henchmen. NPCs are now blindly chasing after enemies who run at the first hint of an area attack and are consequently getting pulled into large mobs. Even all-player groups are spending more time chasing than attacking. What used to be a fun diversion is now a frustrating mess. I was eagerly anticipating the expansion pack, now I think I will pass.

MMORPG - Hogwash

Those of you that are looking for a strong MMORPG, this game isn't for you. Can we say "Diablo II" with an extremely fancy lobby? Yes sir, we can!

Game Engine: 1 of 5
This game is just another adventure RPG similar to diablo II. The combat system is more of that of an MMORPG though. This game is lacking the right to be called an MMORPG in my opionion because there is no Massively Multi-player interaction outside of the Town (what I refer to as the lobby). When you go into the battle field, you and the people in your party (up to 7 others for a total of 8) get a unique copy of that battlefield. Nobody outside of your party can interact with you in the field, challenge you to interactive fights, harrass you, random person stopping by for a chat or help you out with a challenging monster.

Graphics: 5 of 5
The graphics are phonmonal. Some of the best graphics I've seen in an AARPG(Action Adventure Role Playing Game). The environments are beautiful and to just wander around to experince them is worth purchasing the game in itself. Monsters and animations are brilliant. Be prepared to have an extremely high end graphics card or flounder. The game also handles Alt+tab really well. Doesn't support dual-monitor mode.

Network Connection: 4 of 5
Dial-up users, do not fear! The network code for this game was written well enough that you shouldn't have any major lag issues. I reccomend that you turn off high demand messengers while playing the game though. Don't expect to be downloading anything an playing sir!

Story: 3 of 5
The story is extremely clichè while being orginal. The world is massive enough that exploring everything will take you hours to days just in newbie land. Quests will often drive you from one side of the world to the other. Exploring is a must and NPC interaction is a must. After a while though you find yourself speeding through NPC chatter.

Overall: 3 of 5 Fun: 2 of 5
The game is beautiful to look at and the story is almost redeeming and you can wander for hours dreaming about adventures you've read in books or encountered in D&D (or similar Pen and Paper RPG). Though this can't make up for an "already been done five years ago" game engine with some modifacations to blindside the public and gamers. For those of you that like combat and collecting the items you found in the world, leave now. The game is driven extremely heavy on the quests and limited combat. Then it is limited on party combat.

Just Great...

As an 'older' former DnDer, this is the first of the 'big' Internet Multi-User games that I've really liked. Has a definite role-play feel with the quest and mission directed play. Great graphics, too. And since I'm hand-eye-coordination challenged, its really good that success is as much determined by thinking out strategies and tactics as it is by having 'quick fingers'. Im addicted!

First Guild Wars (aka the `Prophecies')

OK, this game came out in April 2005 or so. Not a regular MMO but most of the time plays like one largely because there is no shortage of ppl online playing it... yep, 2+ years old and going strong.

Lvl20 cap, as everyone interested or already playing it must surely know by now. The cap is reached at approximately half-point through the PvE part of the game, half of the story (moderately linear story) is known by then. There are certain frequently abused paths that let players reach the high end areas sooner than that, but first timers should not be concerned with them.

Because of the lvl cap game can get pretty hard when mobs are lvl28 and your buddy only lvl20. Arguably those areas are the most fun to play in (for PvE) and have the best loot...

LOOT (or items): the variety is limited but not as much as attribute/stats range on weapons, armor, etc. That, together with low lvl cap probably keeps the balance of the game more or less managable... it's being balanced for PvP of course. Economy is complex, generally because for all intents and purposes there are no separate servers and anyone can meet with anyone... the population of 100s of thousands of players.

The best (range-wise) weapons/shields start dropping soon after half point. Player armors can be only crafted by NPCs.

PvP. Arguably the best part of GW, can be fun even for someone who doesn't like PvP, however it can also be abused in some ways and the higher lvl of competition the more specialised and narrow tactics/strategy used (cookie cutter builds)

Combat. Each character can wield only 8 skills at a time, they can be changed and rearranged in towns from a pool of many different skills that character has obtained since it was created. Skills are used only for combat, they are useless in non-combat areas (towns, outposts)... means that the game is very combat oriented.

Practically no physics, no climbing, swimming, jumping, flying. No potions of any kind.

Graphically the game is beautiful, and not very demanding on the system.

Awesome! Outstanding Game
