I love DBZ i have been a fan since 3rd grade. In this game there are 23 charters pluse one bonus guy. There are also 5 modes of play. One is story mode where you go through the seires. Number two is vs. mode. Three is traning where you learn how to play. four is world martial arts tournment. And five is you will have to find out for your self. I rate this game 10 out of 10. You have to be a true DBZ fan to like this game.

DragonBallZ Budokia is fun only except for when your thinking yes I`m going to win I know. And then you try to use a death move your charcter learned but it doesn't work. All because that skill isn't on the custom tray. It gets on your nerves. And belive me I've had it happen to me 100 times as an effect of that I ended up losing in the last match of the WORLD TOURNAMENT.I hate being RunnerUp.What I'm trying to say is once you get a one hit death move go to Edit Skills and select change caps and put it on and any other skills. The most important thing you need to know is balance you should have one - third special skills, one - third Physical skills, and one - third Support Skills. Don't rush to the top get lazy go to the store buy skills you want go come back, in buy some more skills you want and do 20 more times run out of money. And then run back to the World Tournament hit the Advanced Class thinking your a shoe in to win the 50,000 Zenie and lose in the first round with a single regular kick, punch, or ki blast wave and make sure you don't lose because the opponent about to power up voice whipped out your Health before he could power up a milisecond's worth. In other words, PRACTICE!

Best DBZ game ever

Dragon Ball Z Budokai is by far the best DBZ game made. The graphics are awesome and the characters look and sound the same as they do in the series. The battles get somewhat intense and the large number of combos per character gets hard to remember, especialy while changing characters in story mode. One major flaw happens when you try to get the dragonballs form mr. popo's shop (it took me hours to get all of them tom show up). Another flaw is that the story mode lacks alot of depth. Other than that, Budokai is an awesome game, by far the best DBZ game.

Fantastic Game, Fantastic Fun!

Dragonball Z Budokai is the greatest Fighting game for the Playstation2 Period! It is a fantastic accomplishement from the game's designers! The game's graphics pushes the gaming engine to the very brink of it's potential. It has every actor's voice from the show, and every moment from the Saiyan saga to the Cell Games is reanacted perfectly with the voice acting, and computer visuals; For a second, I thought I was watching the show.
After you complete the sagas, and unlock every character, that is where the game gets fun. It has the most simplistic fighting combos, and death moves around. And I am a big fighting game fan, and once I got this game, I was blown away even to say it was BETTER then Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Combat. (Not that I play or own Mortal Combat or Tekken).
When my cousin came down for Easter, We went into my room, and played for hours, till we dropped the controllers on the ground. And for players who like to practice their fighting combos, and deathmoves, There is a practice mode, allowing you to fight anywhere from the Planet Namek, to the Hyperbolic Time-Chamber. And you can alter the computer's practice AI from just standing there--to kicking your but! (Which is not easy).
I am happy to report only two flaws in the game--Majin Buu, Master Roshi, Goten, and young Trunks are NOT in the game (Including the Majin Buu Saga). But if they were, the game would be the best out there. But you no what they say, "Nobody is perfect."
And in my personal opinion, is way better than the DBZUltimate22 japanese import for PS1. Which is way too slow, and doesn't carry any serious weight in fun factor compared to DBZ Budokai. GET DBZ: BUDOKAI! You'll enjoy this game with your family and friends for years to come.

A Great Fighting Game

This is one of the best fighting games ever. The graphics are great and the moves and fighting is simply amazing. This game follows the Dragonball Z series. The Story Mode is simply amazing, because each of part of it is known as an episode and include great cutscenes that simply just look like you're actually watching the TV series.

In Story Mode you're included on the fighting of course and you unlock special characters. The Story Mode goes from the Sayian Saga to the Namek Saga and ends at the Android Saga [Which also is counted in the Cell Saga].

There are many characters to select from from the show once you unlock them all including Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Freiza, Cell, Trunks, Vegeta, Nappa, Radtiz, Hercule, The Great Sayiaman and many more. Also the moves that the characters that do are just amazing. You can do the Kamehameha or Galic Cannon, and then soon you can preform special moves called "Ultimate Moves" which once the combo is finished shows a special cutscene of your character preforming the attack. The cutscenes of Goku or Cell doing the Spirit Bomb, or Vegeta's Big Bang or Final Flash, or Teen Gohan's Super Kamehameha are simply amazing. Also some characters can transform which turns them into different forms to allow them to preform other attacks.

You can transform Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and all the forms of Gohan [Except Great Sayiaman] into Super Sayians, or evolve Freiza into his Final Form, or change Cell into his second or Perfect Form.

Also the mode World Tournament is simply awesome. It is just like all the DBZ characters are just fighting in the World Martial Arts Tournament. You can unlock Zeni to buy different capsules from Mr. Popo's shop to collect different attacks from by purchasing them from Mr. Popo.

Also winning the World Martial Arts Tournament can also allow you to unlock Hercule and soon the special mode known as "The Legend Of Hercule" which is postively fun as you battle through most of the DBZ tournament characters such as Goku, Teen Gohan, Cell, the Cell Jrs. and more. You can also unlock the Great Sayiaman later.

In conclusion this game is postively amazing and even if you don't like the Dragonball Z series, you might still like it if you try out the fighting. Downfalls are that there aren't any jumping allowed, but if your opponent hits you hard enough you can start hovering, floating and flying in the air.

A Great Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a HUGE DBZ fan! I bought this game, and it totally rules! I think it's one of the best games I've ever played! It goes from when Raditz comes to when Gohan kills Cell! This game has awesome graphics! This game also has attacks that the characters really use on the show and in the manga! The only bad things are, alot of the attack have different names but end up being the same attack, and they give you scond looks for characters and some of them are totally WIERD! But, you get alot of characters like Son Goku, Son Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Cell, Hercule, Older Gohan, Androids 17, 16, 18, and 19, Frieza, Zarbon, Dodoria, Raditz, Nappa, Yamcha, Krillin', etc. etc. Story mode is really cool, but the don't have when Vegeta fights Kiwi, or Dodoria! Like I said earlier, they only go up to the Cell saga, so obviously, there WILL be a sequel with the Majin Boo Saga!!! If you have a PS2, BUY THIS GAME ALLREADY!!!!!!!!!!!

TOTALLY A HOT GAME!

The Best DBZ Game of its time

The readers digest version: If you liked the DBZ series, you'll like this game. If you're a fighting game enthusiast who is unfamiliar with the DBZ universe, you'll find that this is only a so-so fighting game.
DBZ Budokai has plenty of features that will appeal to DBZ fans: Every major character (and many minor characters) from the Saiyan Saga to the Cell Games is at least unlockable as a playable character. All their signature moves are present and accounted for, even their transformations (such as various levels of Super Saiyan). The overall production quality, from the English-voice overs to the animation, is actually much higher than it ever was in the cartoon series. So what's not to like?
For starters, the basic moves for nearly all the characters are identical; if you've mastered one character, you've mastered them all. While the Capsule Tray system allows to customize each fighter's characteristics and special move list, this actually limits the number of moves available to your character for any given fight. And if you haven't come across the capsule you want yet, tough nuts; you'll have to do without until it shows up. The fighting system has little similarity to anything fighting game fans are familiar with already, nor is it particularly intuitive. Special moves, for example, cannot be initiated without first landing at least the last strike in a specified 3-7 hit combo--the strike most likely to be blocked. This will chafe the sensibilities of fighting game fans and DBZ fans alike--When in the entire DBZ history did Goku ever need to pull off a close-range combo to activate his Kamehameha Wave? And when did Ken, Ryu, or Guile ever need to get in close to launch their signature projectiles in Street Fighter II?
All griping aside, DBZ Budokai makes for a decent afternoon's entertainment, and is now priced at a level fully commensurate with its entertainment value.
