Not the best Dragon Ball Z fighting game

This game is good. It has alot of good sides and downsides. This game isn't the best fighting game around, so if you don't really care for DBZ and just want fighting, this game is not for you. The controls are alittle hard to get used to, and the story mode is fun, but it takes some practice. This game has the voices from the show, so that's good if you're a DBZ fan. I know I'm a DBZ fan. There's a tournoment mode, but only for 1 player. You start off with only very little charactors, but as you complete chalanges in story mode, you get more charactors. The story mode is the best mode,I'd say. Overall, this game gets a 3/5

Dragonball Z Budokai.........

Dragonball Z Budokai, in my honest opinion, is the most polished game out of all the Budokai console games. While I say that it's the most polished game, that doesn't mean it is the best(that honor lies in Budokai 3). Dimps went above and beyond their duties to give Dragonball Z fans a game that captures the look and feel of the series. Fans get a chance to relive some of their favorite episodes in story mode and that, in itself, is why I say it is the most polished. There's 23 DBZ characters to choose from, seven modes to try, familiar locations for fighters to fight in....as well as unlockable goodies and more. The one important feature that, I think, makes this game shine is the skill edit feature. With the skill edit feature, players can customize their characters, their fighting techniques, and their abilities(such as healing, etc.). Serious fighting fans and advanced gamers will definitely get into that feature, I assure you.

Story mode, while grand in it's presentation, could have been alot longer that it was. As it stands, though, it was short and sweet & left me wanting more.

This first game showed alot of promise and is a game that not only fighting game fans but Dragonball Z fans will have fun with.

This game rocked... You I just realized I might be putting all my comments under PS2 when I am writing about gamecube... ops sorry Jeff. Any way I realy like the game and the mr. satan/hurcle game mode is the best ever. It is the DBZ story though Cell saga told as if Mr. satan had saved the world. It is quite a bit of fun. I would say this game is a must for all the DBZ fans out there.

The Budokai series is the best! This game is on my top ten favorite games of all time! Budokai rules! I can play the game for hours. Story mode is good. The controls could use a little more work but overall they are ok.

This is a great game it only has up until the ending of the Cell Games Saga, but still it is way better than Budokai 2, 3 and Sagas. For one this is not a "board" game type game as the second one or an adventure like Budokai 3 or an everywhere traveling game like Sagas, it's just a plain old simple fighting game with great cut-scenes. I give this game a 5 out of 5 and a 10 out of 10(My highest rating ever).

This Game Rocks

This game is the first of the Dragonball Z Budokai series. It features all the characters from the Saiyan Saga, to the Cell Games Saga. You can also go through the story of Dragonball Z using the Story mode (this is also how you unlock most of the characters). The other two characters you have to get by beating the World Tournament stage.

Cons:
1. If you don't like fighting games this is not for you
2. If you don't want to keep pressing the same button combinations all the time, I'd suggest one of the later games in the series.
3. It only goes to the Cell Games Saga
4. It leaves out the Garlic Jr. Saga (just in case some of you were wondering)

Pros:
1. It's based on the show, so if you're a fan you'll like it
2. If you have some of the other games or if you are thinking about getting one of them this is a good way to train yourself with the controls.
3. This is the only game in which you get to play as either Android 19, Zarbon, or Dodoria (in case you wanted to know if there are any secondary characters in the game)
4. This is the only game in which the characters aren't Cell shaded (although in Dragonball Z Budokai 3 they fixed up the job a little)

Finally I will end this by saying that even though I only gave this four stars, this game was extremely well made. Again this game is also very good at training you with the controls of the other games so if you are having trouble check it out.

dont play this game

i was really excited when i found out that a new dbz game was going to be released. but i was disappointed. this game doesnt even go all the way through the sagas.i was amazed by the graphics which were great. the levels also dont seem to be to fun either. sure you can blow someone through a cliff and interact with the environment in other ways but its not much different from other fighting games like this. also the game does not have very many different attacks. i love vegeta but i didnt use him much because he doesnt have even half of his attacks that he should have. a lot of attacks are very similar too. the game is also very shallow. you can beat the game in a very small amount of time. there are quite a few characters but the game leaves a lot of them out. but it has almost every main character. enough said, dont buy this game. you could rent it, but expect to return it early because you will get bored. the show still rocks, though.

A Good DBZ Game

This is the first of the DBZ Budokai series and its awesome. Excluding Budokai 2 and 3, this is the best DBZ game period. The story mode recreates the entire animated series up to the Cell Games in 3-D. Besides the story mode, you can play the duel mode which is like the multiplayer mode. You can also play the world tournament mode which pits you against other computer controlled characters in a tournament. If you win, you'll get money which you can use to buy skill capsules at Mr. Popo's skill shop. The next mode is the practice mode where you can practice your character's moves against your opponent. Then comes the edit skills mode, where you can change your character's skill capsules or buy new ones. These skill capsules contain attacks and items your characters can use. You can set up to 7 skills per character in their skill sheet. Set up each character's skills in your favorite way, to create the ultimate custom character. Another mode is the options where you can change difficulty levels, controller settings, and other things like brightness or screen position. The last mode you can have is actually a secret, one you'll have to unlock. All I'm telling you is that you can buy it at Mr. Popo's skill shop after you win first place in the world tournament mode playing at the adept level. Overall, this game is a must-have for any DBZ fans.
