Fun for all DBZ fans!

As a stand-alone fighter "Dragonball Z: Budokai" is not that great. While you can "fly" your freedom of movement is, some what, restricted to 2D fighting style. Sidestepping is available but there are no rolls or jumping commands. The special moves are also limited to 7 slots per fighter. These slots are used by capsules that enable you perform the various moves and/or abilities. While you can customize your fighter, you first need to unlock or purchase the extra abilities. Another problem is that transformations and special abilities take up room you would otherwise use for moves/abilities. For example: in order for Goku to become super you need King Ki Fist X2, X5, and X10 equipped, all-in-all taking 4 of your 7 slots. This adds a challenge to an otherwise straight-forward game.

The story mode covers the Sayen saga through to the Android saga. Being that it covers such large ground DBZB skips certain episodes in order to get to the fights quicker. You will have a chance to be the heroes and some of the villains in the story mode. Just about every fighter in the game can be unlocked for the other game modes (Duel, tournament, and Practice). The skills shop allows you to get most any skill you need. But don't stay to long because you cloud purchase repeat items. In order to purchase items you need to win tournaments for money. The harder the tournament the more money you get. There is a First prize and a second prize only. Features like these add replay value to a moderate game.

To rap-it-up the graphics are a good 3D version of the show at a slightly less then frantic pace (4 of 5). The sound is as good as one would hope for. The music is also good for the most part (4.5 of 5). The game play suffers due to the button mashing that will get you through most of the game. There is how ever some strategy involved during certain segments of the game (3 of 5). All said, "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai" is a must have for all DBZ fans. To the casual gamer rent it first.

This game is quite good and interesting but i beat it in 1 day! It was extremely easy and therefore lost its long term appeal, otherwise it would have 5 stars.

A Decent DBZ game?

Budokai is most likely the first decent DBZ game out there. But it does have bad sides. First, why is the story mode so easy? It took me and my friends less than 1 day to beat it. Plus the characters' alternate costumes are just plain stupid looking. For the first decent DBZ game(Besides the games for the gameboy)it does have it's down sides, not to say there aren't any good things. The graphics are great, as well as the controls, so I gave it 3 stars. And, for those of you that don't know this, Budokai 2 is coming out this December. It is sure to be a MAJOR improvement.

This game is by far the best dbz game their is.But the reasons I didn't give it a 5 is the graphix ,and you cain'tjump!! The graphix are good but could be better.The story mode is really fun.It's kind of like you are watching the show.The characters sound just like they do in the show.If you are a dbz fan like me,get it!!If not,rent it first.Overall it's a good game.

I have owned this game for three months now, and have been very pleased. Even after beating story mode and the Legend of Hurcule, I can always pick up a controller and have a good time whupping up on the bad guys. ( Of course, I sometimes am one of the bad guys, Cell, Frieza, etc.) Because of the large variety of characters, you can always choose someone else to fight as, just in case if you get bored with another character. (Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, etc.) If you play the game enough, it takes very little effort you get the hang of the combos, and, their really not that difficult. I think it's very neat how they, (the game makers) let you fight from almost all the different characters different point of view. I believe it would have been very funny if Master Roshi (a character from the DB, & DBZ series) was in the game, but I have been wondering why Hercule was put in the game, but Chiatzou (Character from DB, & DBZ series) wasn't. The game could have been a little more interesting if there had been a create-a-fighter mode. Anyway, here are the pros and cons.

Pros:

The large range of characters.
The different types of story modes.
The ability to give your favorite characters awesome moves on the custimize characters screen.

Cons:

The lack of variety of energy attacks.

P.S. If you buy this game, (and I highly suggest it) I'm sure you will enjoy it. And if not, tough.

This game is awesome. You start out as goku, piccolo, kid gohan, krillin, and tien. It is not hard to unlock the rest, except Great Saiyaman. You can redo each character. It is confusing at first, but after you play it for awhile you will get the hang of it. For frieza, buy his space ship and die, you will become mecha frieza. The reason this is not a true 5 is because there is no buu saga. And because goku hardly has any moves. If you buy this game, get the strategy guide, it really helps. Buy it now and have fun.

To all the Dragon Ball Z fans out there this is the game for you. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai is a great game that bring you all the DBZ action, all the characters you love and the ones you hate. DBZ Budokai has all the kick ass action from the cartoon show, from fast kicking and puching to massive power blast, earth breaking destruction. If you are not a fan of DBZ and you just want a good fighting game, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai is the one for you.

This game rocks it has duel mode practice mode tournament mode and few others it includes 23 characters and a story mode that goes from the saiyan to the cell sagas. In my opinion you should really really buy or atleast play it. It is way better than vice city i heard some websites gave it a bad rating. I think they must be crazy to give this game a bad rating. This game is a must buy. It is way much better than dbgt final bout.

Finally a Dbz game that is here to stay! I here that you get to be 24 charecters witch should be good and one of those characters is raditz thats a big reason why i'm getting this game radditz is awesome well anyway what i find funny is that Hercule is in this game which tells me infograms has a sense of humor or there amazingly stupid i think hercule's a waist of space if you ask me i also know that you get to become SSJ in the middle of a match wich is very cool and you get to use beams and fly. this game is very much like a remade version of ultimate battle 22 and final bout wich i have played both and they both are very good games.The games one big tournament and you compete in it and you win money and you use that money to buy moves for your player than you keep doing so and make you player as good as he gets than you get another player and get him the best he can get. Im definently getting this game.
