If your looking for the same entralling, touching, and action packed game you recieved from Final Fantasy X you've come to the wrong place. This game, while giving you brief moments of nastalgia, is a failed attempt by its makers to have the same success they had with final fantasy X. Final Fantasy X-2 is a charlies angels wan-a-be in video game format. The battle system is nothing like its sister game. You rely on the suit you wear in order to perfom special moves and abilities. Overall it was the worst final fantasy released. Instead of releasing a remake of Final Fantasy VII like the consumers asked for they gave us a game no one wanted. Great graphics though :)

A typical sequal.

After playing the first edition to this duo, I guess I expected more. Yuna starts a new journey with her cousin Riku and new friend Paine as a sphere hunter. She is also trying to find out what happened to HIM.

While I would have loved to dig into a deep story line with loads of intrigue, I was only met with scores of activities. Not what I wanted after the first game. I wanted more. For those who would like less of a story line and more activity this game is perfect for you. Otherwise I give it a pass.

Cute & Colourful .. But Is That All ?

Being a fan of the Final Fantasy Series, I had to go out and rent Final Fantasy X-2, And I'm glad I did, But this game wasn't for me.

You control Yuna, Who along with her Buddies; Rikku & Paine, travel the world of "Spira" collecting Sphere's which contain movies & clues to the where-abouts of Yuna's lost love. Whilst the plot may sound interesting, The game to me was a let down.

The graphics of the game were amazing, It was all so "pretty" with lots of high-res bright colours, But in a game like this you need to look past the Graphics, Whilst the Movies & Cut scenes are all very detailed, It's not enough to save this game. The random battles you encounter can be quite tedius in the end, Because of the new High Speed battle system, the battles can virtually be won just by tapping "X" chaining your attacks together, And unlike the previous Final Fantasy games, Strength & Power isn't really needed (I managed to make it to the end of the Second-Last chapter on an extreemly low level)

The game attempts to boast a message of "Girl Power" with the scantily clad leading ladies prancing around, The game screams "Euro-Trash" especially in the opening movie showing Yuna singing at her concert, with loud Techno J-Pop music blasting out and all the colours of the rainbow pouring from the screen as the main characters are introduced.

If you're a Final Fantasy fan, then you probably will try this game anyway, But make sure you rent it first, But Final Fantasy X-2 is not for everyone.

Okay, I thought this game was going to be good. I played the 1st FFX, which wasn't to bad, but neede some improvments. This game however, really disappointed me. This is like a fantasy version of charlie's angels. I knew it was going to be girly from the start, but I thought they would actually DO SOMETHING, not sit around and giggle all the time. This is just blah, so don't get it if you like good characters and story lines. Rikku and Yuna are like bounty hunters and I really can't say I like the new character, Pain, because her name stands for what she is, a pain. So, my advice to you is, rent this game if you really want to play it, but don't waist 40 bucks.

For Ones Who Don't Know

Yes, it could be a big shock.
Favorite, beloved characters, returning in unexpected costumes..
Hero gone, heroine taken in place...
No more Aeons...

But the fact is, the downsides of this game have been completely diminished by the pros.

I've seen quite a few disappointed reviewers take their anger out by expressing things like "Where the heck is Tidus?" and "This game is so stupid". Well, how silly, most of these people didn't even have adequate information on the game. I'd suggest for those who have reviewed the game in this manner to watch the trailers.

As for the game ratings, first of all, the storyline is incredibly deep. I'll stay away from ruining it too much, but it has a very close tie with the prequel and the love relationship between Yuna and Tidus continue very deeply into a twisted plot (and no, I don't mean the "Yuna sees him in the sphere but he's kinda blurry", no, something bigger than that).

Also, the replay value has extended. You can kind of control the storyline because the game is based on "Missions" that you can choose to accomplish. Of course, there are some limits to how much you have control over changing the storyline, but still, it gives the game a high replay value, considering the fact that it is a RPG.

Graphics have also boosted. You may not have noticed from looking at the pictures, but if you have seen the trailers, the facial expressions and the movements have become a lot more smooth, delivering even more power in the non-verbal communications of the characters.

The battle system has become much more entertaining than before as well. In Final Fantasy X, I'm sure you loved the way how a character would go and attack the enemy, and as he or she is running back, another character would go and attack. In X-2, the attacks can be so consecutive, that after one attacks, the second does while the first one is still in front of the enemy, and then the second must duck in order to make room for the third character to attack.

As for the music, if you're expecting the Final Fantasy X music to pop back up in order to deliver nostalgia... I'd suggest you don't expect that. The music dimension for X-2 has been modified into a whole different genre. The music is heavily influenced by Korean/Japanese pop music style as well as big hints of techno for the battle themes, and yet, they still contain that classical Japanese feeling to it. As for the song "Real Emotion", I'm not sure just how smoothly that'll go when the English voice actors cover it up... (the last thing I'd want to see is a mutalated version of it).

And one final point, the character depth goes very very deep. Although the previews do not release much information about new characters, you'll be amazed to be hinted at such things as the man being seen by Yuna, really is Shuin, who looks almost identical to Tidus. Another interesting fact about Shuin is that he is in a complicated love relationship with Lenne, a female character who resembles Yuna. Overall, it seems great.

Well, all that's left is to wait until the game is out (it's not really fair, I mean in Japan, it was out in March!), and let's all hope that the English voice actors will do a great job at keeping the same feeling to the game.

Non-linear, but still Final Fantasy !

It is a non-linear RPG, the first one of Final Fantasy; the Story begins two years after "Sin". You will be able to change (FF-)jobs inside of a battle (Black mage, Knight, Thief...).
And I've heard of some other things you can do, like training monsters, and with these monsters you can fight against other "Trainers..." (reminds me of Pokemon...?)
The graphic is the same as in Final Fantasy X, but the music is not the same, and not (!) composed by Nobuo Uematsu, who composed the music for FF1 to 10, and who composes it for FF12 again. The monsters in FFX-2 are also still the same as in FFX.
I hope that is enough...

-sorry for my mistakes (p.ex. grammar)I'm from Germany-

ITS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!

In Final Fantasy X-2, you play with an all female cast. The chaotic world of Spira has entered and "Eternal Calm" an has gone under a huge transformation. But when Yuna finds a mystical sphere that contains imagery of what might be the BLitzball player that she thought was gone forever, Yuna is driven to seek the truth behind what she has seen. I personaly just beat Final Fantasy X after beign stuck on the final boss. Seeing (and beating) the ending has made me want to play FFX-2 like no other. It has an all new battle system and job classes too!!

Dissapointing

Okay, so, I've played FFX, and it was amazing. It was my first ever RPG game I'd played and probably will be one of the best. I was so upset with the ending and I felt such pity for Yuna and Tidus that I bought this game in hope that it would reunite them and make me feel a whole lot better. Let me tell you the plot, first: Yuna, the high summoner who defeated Sin once and for all three years ago, is now a sphere hunter (spheres=videos) she is hunting with the Gullwings, which consist of Rikku (FFX), Paine (new), Shinra (new), Brother (FFX), and Buddy (new). Yuna found a sphere of "him" and their out looking. Your old sphere grid system is gone (hip, hip, HOORAY!) and you are instead rewarding with Garment Grids, which you stick Dresspheres on, and the more you use a Dressphere, the move abillities you learn on it, as well as leveling up yourself. The graphics were okay, and the whole plot was just stupid. There isn't really a villain, unless you count Vegnagun, which is more like a silent threat. Alrighty. Lets move on to pros:
Short, multiple endings (6 of them X.X) Lighthearted, easy bosses for the most part.
Cons:
I really don't reccommend this game to anyone. No. Take that back. Buy this game if you haven't played FFX. FFX is a deep, moving game that is waaay up there with great games. FFX-2 is a bunch of sluts running around trying to find something but don't ever really get around to it and in the meanwhile are doing stupid things like singing, crying, and saying 'Oh, poopie!' Okay. Characters: Rikku is the same, funny kid she was in FFX. I liked her character because she had stupid lines that made you want to laugh so hard. Paine was just there because she was looking for Crimson Spheres or something like that. I loved her battle moves, but other than that, she was worthless. Buddy was the "keep it together" guy, even though Brother's captain. Shinra is just a smart Al Bhed kid. Okay: BROTHER. You have this feeling that he's really, really gay, but he's hitting on Yuna at the same time...which is his cousin. Basically, Brother is uneeded and made you think that Yuna was starting to fall for him because Yuna's just nice that way. Alright, the big blow: Yuna. She was a great character in FFX, calm, sweet, loving, Spira's shining light. Now, she's just another teenager, out to find her lover, that loses her temper and says, 'Oh, poopie!' I don't like her AT ALL in this story. Please, spare your heart the wound of FFX-2's lightheartedness in comparison to FFX's dark, myseterious plot. Okay. I'm done.
Overall:
Story: 2/5
Characters: 1/5
Fun: 3/5
Overall: 3/5

Had to use the guide more than I liked

The game is mission based and so for me it was a unique experience. I remember the world from Final Fantasy X, so I didn't have to learn the layout. I liked the story line, it moved things along fine for me. When I realized what I did, or did not do, would change my percentage, and alter what would happen in the game etc. I didn't like it. I play a lot of role-playing games, and I put so many hours into a game to be strong and looking at every inch of the world. If I put the time in I don't like being penalized for talking to someone too soon, or too late, or the wrong answer! So, I was always going back to the guide to make sure my percentage wasn't any lower. I already new I didn't have a perfect score early on and that bugged me. I did go into this game with a certain amount of expectation since I had such an extremely fun time with Final Fantasy X. For the most part I had a pretty good time playing it, but I would have liked to not of had the percentage element in the game.

One of My All Time Favs.

I love this game for what it is. Its good fun. Remember people: games are not artist medias that teach us something about the universe. They are just meant to be fun and entertaining. Nobody should take any game so seriously that they would low ball it because its plot isn't fantastic. Novels are made to have great plots, games are not. In the case of this game, its plot is ok. The characters are great on the other hand. Much better than the first. Most of the characters in the first were boring, (Kamari and Lulu both had no personality or back-story). While in this game the three main characters all have back stories and are all interesting. The dialog is much more humorous than the last game. The battle system is great. Its not so boring as FFX's turn based system was. And its not as frantic as a real time system is. Its right in the middle with the best of both worlds, it gives you time to think about your next move but you don't have to wait for the other characters to attack before you can again. The dress spheres are fun. Kind of sailor moon-ish transformations. This game is overly sugary. If you hate that sort of thing than you might get tooth decay from this game. If not than you might like it. The game is also 100% female driven, which I personally like, but if you are the type that only likes male heroes than pass this one by in the store because there is NO testosterone. There are so many jobs to master in the game that I'm on my 3rd time beating it and I'm not done yet. The graphics are good. They are better than FFX, (cut scene and in game alike). You also get to see all the characters from the first game if you missed them. In all I would say that if you want a super fun game and don't take games super seriously, than this is a true gem.
