Cool Concept but poorly executed

THis game was fun for about two hours, then it became more of the same old thing. Sneak up behind a guy, kill him and move on to the next guy who you end in the same manner. OVER AND OVER!
The fighting mechanics are terrible, you are a big burly Vin Deisel look alike who has to hit the average baddie about 10 times just to knock him down, yeah right. If the fighting and combos were better and the game had more story(it technically has NO story whatsoever)I may have liked it more.
Rent before you buy!

do not hunt his game

Rockstar games is really only famous for The Max Payne and GTA Serises this game does not join the list. It sucks having to hide all the time from your enemies because your enemies are so hard to beat, unless you sneek up on um and kill or if you get a gun which you dont get in like 2 hours. Manhunt features a seris of hard stunts. But i liked luring your enemies and then strike em. Of course the graphics are herific but what do u except from Rockstar games. The camera angles suck and fighting combos are worst then bad. Overall it is not a bad game but not a good game. I give 3 Stars

Hide, hide, hide and hide. Kill, kill, kill and kill.
Something wrong with my review? Yes, redundancy, awkward, and brainless. Well, that's what this game is all about.
This is a typical game made by Rock Star. A good idea came up with terrible execution. Exactly like the way the did GTA III series. Yes, you read it right. I didn't made mistake. The game of the year, GTA III series.
Manhunt and GTA share something in common. First of all, they all got horrible graphic. Hard to image that it's the same company who made Max Payne II. Secondly, they are all so-not-detail oriented which I personally believe it's the fundamental attitude to make a good games. This is the attitude that makes Japanese games superior and American games stupider. Probably this is the attitude made Toyota surpassed Ford.
Anyway, if you love GTA series, this game is just that style and won't let you down. However, if you're those few who disagree the previews about GTA III or Vice City in all major video magazines in the market, stay away!!

HARDCORE!!!

I've only played this game for about 45 minutes so far, but I already know that it is the most violent video game I've ever seen. I've played violent games before, but none of them have made me wince or grit my teeth like this one. Hardcore, extreme, depraved...but really entertaining. Not for children or people with weak stomachs. Example: You sneak up on a guy, put a plastic bag over his head, beat his face in a few times spraying blood everywhere, then snap his neck. This is one of the more "tame" ways to kill your enemies. Like I said, very brutal and very hardcore.

don't waste your time with this one...

Imagine the skimpiestest possible set-up for this game's weak premise (a guy wakes up, is told to kill-kill-kill, and he obeys with out question), a brain-dead plot, bad graphics, repetitive gameplay, stale level design and truely mindless gore and you've got Manhunt. Bad, dumb, boring. GTA-3, GTA-VC, Max Payne- they've all got gore aplenty but they've also got fisrt rate plots, gameplay and design. Stay far, far away from this waste of time...

A good game... but for who?

I know this game, and I have played it. It was an ok game to play, and at the same time I was asking myself; Who would create a game like this? And who would buy it and play it?
I think there is a point when game developers have to realize what they are creating. This game has no use. It is extremely bloody, and it's insane. I don't know why anyone would create a game like this.
But that's my opinion, now here are some facts:
-The game has pretty good graphics. Not the best out there, but pretty good.
-The music is also a 3/5. At some points it gets scary, nothing special.
-Many levels, wide variety of weapons

The bottom line is, these games should not be even created.

Most Violent game to date..

The violence and sadistic matierial in this game make GTA look like Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario.
Its set in a GTA universe(Carcer City) with GTA graphics,Then its got the sneaking elements of Splinter Cell where you hide in shadows and walk slowly,Then finally the aim of the game is to "Kill very violently, but in silence"(Like Hitman in a way).
The game follows executionee(if thats a word) James Earl Cash who has been sent to death row to be killed by Lethal Injection, but only to wake up hours later beside an ear piece.
He has been kept alive to play as the "Star" of a real life murder movie-his payment? his life.
His path to freedom is guarded by sadist gangsters who are mentally blood hungry,Cash has to kill them as violently as he can to earn points for his freedom,he has to use things like plastic bags, glass shards, knives, baseball bats, guns etc. to the best of their advantage-and all weapons can provide guards a very quick but unpleasent death.
I`m not sad or anything-but the gameplay is very fun as it reminds me alot about horror movies(especially "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre").
I reccomend this game to anyone who can handle the "Mature" content of this game(I am a 13 yaer old girl who handles Manhunt pretty much as anyone would).
goodbye.

You'll need a shower after this bloodbath is over.

As always, Rockstar delivers a game that breaks into territory other developers have not dared to tread, possibly to their credit. Do you like slasher films? Ever fantasized about being that psychotic menace hiding in the shadows, waiting to spring on an unsuspecting victim? Manhunt is just the drug for your depraved, sick mind.

You are a dead man walking, a killer put to death by lethal injection. You've been granted a second chance by a snuff film director who pulled some strings to switch your needle with a sedative. Your character or "Cash" as he is called wears an ear piece broadcasting "The Director's" chilling instructions to you. His instructions? To murder and mutilate thugs on the street while his surveillance cameras catch every moment. Players can opt to employ a USB headset to hear The Director's chilling whispers in their own ear.

You are the star of his newest bloodiest film yet. You traverse the streets and condemned buildings of an abandoned part of town murdering gang members who have been employed to hunt you down. Why does your character go along with such a plan? You have no choice. You are closed in carefully by your surroundings, exit is not an option, it's either kill or be killed.

But this is not a street fighting game. Cash is not gifted with being able to slug it out with these goons. To survive you must hide, distract, and surprise your enemies from behind. You employ weapons such as glass, wire, blades, plastic bags, and later on, guns. Employ the shadows to hide from your victims. Use objects such as bricks, bottles, bodies, and heads to draw enemies to areas where they are blinded to your approach. Bang on walls to draw enemies closer. Wait for their awareness to die down then once their back is turned, spring! The longer you follow them with your weapon raised, the more grisly your technique will be, and the more risky it is that you'll be spotted.

As the story develops you will find that The Director is not to be trusted. You must eventually escape his twisted film and the watchful eye of his surveillance cameras. Once you see how far The Director's influence extends in the town of Carcer City, you will see that escape is not an easy task. As the The Director destroys the last remaining shreds of what is precious to you, you move to exact revenge upon him.

The 3-d environment is just as decadent as the game's theme. You may need to take a break every so often and get some daylight. I know I did. After seeing building after crumbling building, and dark hallway after blood spattered hallway I was begging for a lighter atmosphere after a time. This is not the game's fault, to lighten it at any point would betray the theme. Despite the fact that you're taking out good for nothing's, this game is not for the faint of heart. I would not recommend playing it while the kids are awake. Definitely deserves it's mature rating. There is also plenty of foul language.

Play control is executed well, though I found that rotating Cash sometimes was too sensitive, or not sensitive enough. Positioning can be so crucial in this game too. Once you get the hang though, it becomes easy in places.

"The Director" is voiced magnificently by Brian Cox, known for his acting work in such films as "X2: X-men United", and "The Bourne Identity" series. He deserves an award for his performance here oozing with sleaziness yet showing a great deal of subtlety as well.

Ultimately, if you can stomach darker bloodshed than that of the Grand Theft Auto series, then I recommend the game. If not, then move along.
