This game is one of my most-loved, all time favorite games released on the PS2. Now that I see it on here, as a GREATEST HITS TITLE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO RETAIL FOR 20 BUCKS, BRAND NEW, why is it selling for near 35 new? Completely ridiculous.

All price complaints aside, if you haven't picked this game up, you really need to give it a shot. One of the coolest aspects of the game is how it really draws the player in using multiple aspects of sensory envelopment; the mysterious guide who verbally progresses you through the game can be heard outside of the game if you have a USB headset. The graphics, while not the best, definitely help draw the player into the gritty, dystopian atmosphere. Difficulty level can be relatively tough at times, especially if you are trying to gain the highest rating you can for a stage to unlock all the hidden features.

Overall, this game comes recommended. Just be warned that this game focuses on brutal killing of your enemies and psychotic adversaries; this game is DEFINITELY not for kids.

Sick, but fun.

When I first got my PS2, I made a point for the first game I bought to be Manhunt. I had heard the hype, and have had friends tell me I should "at least see it". I was expecting gore and horror and thrill killing, but I wasn't expecting a game this well thought out.

The plot: You are James Earl Cash, convicted murderer on death row. After you are taken for lethal injection and given a knock-out drug instead of the real thing, you wake up in slum part of town being watched by hidden cameras and directed from an ear-piece. You are the star of a snuff-film, your mission: kill, savagely!

Sound: Sound is vital in this game. You are doing a lot of hiding and sneaking around, so even your footsteps can alert roaming killers looking for you. For that reason, there isn't a lot of music or walking around sound effects. The voice acting, most notably Brian Cox was fantastic! While playing it the first time, I was listening to the director's voice and thinking "this guy sounds a lot like the creepy pedophile from L.I.E.", sure enough! Perfect casting! Some of the lines he says are as chilling and funny as hell at the time, you want to laugh but you know it's really disturbing.

Gameplay: Most of the game, you are sneaking around and whacking people from behind. There are modes for stealth, hiding in shadows, you can even misdirect enemies by throwing objects in a direction (again, where sound is so important). The first weapon you get is a plastic bag (for strangling) and you move up as you go along to knives, handguns, shotguns, automatic weapons and finally the chainsaw.

Enemies: Street thugs, insane asylum inmates, neo-Nazis, cops, paramilitary, and Piggsy (which really disturbed me). Dispatch them all, because enemies do not relent and one good shot from a gun can end your game really quick (no "1-ups" in this game, you die, you stay dead).

Overall: This game is meant for adults of stabile minds. No children, no teens, no one with psychological issues should play this game. If you are certain you are not going to go on a kill crazy rampage after finishing this game, then give it a chance. Plus, it's always fun to sneak up behind a white supremacist and send him straight to hell (in the game, of course).

ok this has got to be the most violent game ever made its really bad starting with your first kill using a shopping bag and beating people with a bat while they ocaisionaly beg you to stop, and eventualy you get worse weapons including a wire which allows you to cut off your enemes head but be advised that later in the game you do kill cops using those weapons so if your a weak minded idiot who thinks they should try everything they see in a video game should not play this

overall this is a really fun game and i would give the replay value a 4 out of 5

Weird, Bloodie game!

I am 13, so I'll admit I'm too young for this game. But unlike many idiots, I can actually play this game and not run down to a park and strangle someone with a shopping plastic bag.So I'm Mature enough for this game.

Manhunt is a stealth-killing game based in the corrupt GTA universe, its not set in Liberty City,Vice City, San Andreas but the sadistic Carcer City.

Its a killing game based on stealth-orientated movements and you are one man versus 10 gangs who are armed and ready to chump into you. They aren't sane so they will have no qualms about killing you, but you're meant the act the same way and make well sure that your hunters are put out of their misery.

The Story is about a man named James Earl Cash, he's been sentenced to death by lethal injection but he wakes up hours later and finds an ear piece, apparently a Snuff film director paid the executioners to inject him with a knockout drug instead of the lethal syringe but to pay the Director back, Cash must escape the place and kill the gang members paid by the Director as gruesome as he can.gangs include lunatics in weird clothing, ex-Army soldiers suffering from severe shellshock and even Police and SWAT officers

You get many weapons, including plastic bags, glass shards, baseball bats, rifles, shotguns, pistols and sharp weapons such as knives and meat cleavers.

The games only downfalls are the fact that it uses a broken stealth engine(I'm an expert at Metal Gear and Splinter Cell so I should know) and the graphics are ALMOST as bad as GTA's but do have the slight betterness

all in all I rated this game 8.8/10
"Enjoyable expierience with flaws"

I hope there will be a Manhunt sequel on PS3/360

The Levels Of Manhunt

Level 1 you start at a parking garage with only your fists and feet there are enemies at the other side of the garage this will be your traning station practice your punches kicks and other attacks there is lots of room and lots of things to attack or throw around from old tires to car parts and garbage cans to shovels when you got the hang of how you move around and attack take the old beaten up door to the next room TIP before you leave you will notice a sharp knife resting on a shelf take the knife and proscide to the next room if you don't you will have problums later.
Level 2 you are at the other side of the garage there is a enemy on the other side of a wall sneak acrose the wall then stalk him then draw your knife and preform a hasty exicution you don't want to leave a big blood trace then hide the body in a dark place then make your way down the stairs to the lower level you will spot a guard wearing a red mask with a bat use stealth to get past him then kill him too by restraining him and breaking his arms and crack his head open with his bat this time leave the body and take his bat then take the elevater to the next part of the garage TIP the bat is a deadly weapon use it with care and use it when you come face to face with a deadly opponent the best stratagy when using the bat is beating the opponent to the ground then beating him to death with it or crack his head open.

One of the hardest games I have ever played, not just in gameplay but in terms of repeated violent imagery. I'm sure my mouth was wide open is shock for about the first half of the game, then I just got numb; Needless to say, this is still one of the funnest, most challenging, most 'I want to get my revenge' kind of games I have ever played. Make no mistake: True to Rockstar common practice, this game can be a total [...]; But little by little you get through it, and there lies the rewards. Just like Vice City or San Andreas, you have a sense of accomplishment when you're done; Plus it's a ride that you won't soon forget. Manhunt is so genius it's scary.

Scarey but fun game!

I got this game a while back on sale. I had read a lot about it. I guess some kid had killed somebody in England or something and they wanted to ban the game. Well, I got it and started playing it and I must say that it totally creeped me out. I mean I have never played any kind or horror or any kind of game like this. I never expected to play a game that literally had me anxious and a bit scared while playing it. Maybe it was the music or the atmosphere or whatever but it reminded me of watching a really good and scarey horror flick. I literally got up and turned the lights on. lol
I liked the concept and the back story that they give you. You are a convict that at the whim of a rich weirdo is placed in this strange kind of ghost town that is just full of thugs, gangs and serial killers. All of them are after you. The language is also very VERY graphic and colorful. When they are chasing you and you are hiding you can hear these psychopaths mocking you and trying to get you to come out of hiding. Also you can fight the guys head up but even if you win it is very violent and you lose much of your strength. The secret is to wait in hiding and ambush your opponents so they don't have a chance. The whole time your benefactor is video taping the whole thing for his own jollies. You can also kill these creeps in the most gruesome ways (a shard of glass to the throat multiple times or a plastic bag over the head from behind).

This game just creeped me out. And in its abilitie to creep me out I thought, MAN THIS IS GREAT!

This game is better than the GTA games which are too overrated. I mean, how many games are there where your on a basketball court, fist fighting a bunch of idiots to your death? GTA was never that creative. Way more realistic than all the GTA games too. If you play this game and actually listen to what the gangs say, the dialogue is the strangest thing I've ever heard. This game is seriously demented though. You have guys running around in dresses and a gang of white supremicists yelling, "Don't trip over your dress!" Can it get much weirder. It's still a great game though. I would definately recomend it.

An all-time great

In my opinion, this is one of the greatest video games ever, making it so. I've never been so absorbed by a game in my life, and if that makes me psycho, oh well. People who say this game isn't very violent are in denial, because they know their idea of what a great game is has been swept away by Manhunt's greatness. Violence, gore, and the overall feel of this game, made part by the creepiest soundtrack ever on a video game make this what it is. GREAT.
