More blood then a vampire could stand!

I'm not going to go into what the game is about. If you don't know by now, you never will. This game is gruesome, bloody and horrifyingly shocking...That is at first, but the human mind compensates for that and haves you, as the player, wondering what each weapon would do on each execution level, and how many can you execute. Each execution is worse then the next, making this violence go above and beyond. Parents, if any read these reviews before buying games, a word of warning: this game didn't get it's mature rating because of a few words of profanity (though not only is the "F" bomb dropped, but the "S" and any other that you could think of is liberally here and there!). I was very suprised that his game didn't get the "A" rating. Anyway, I'm glad to see that companies like Rockstar remember that not all gamers are young teenie boppers and that many adults do play them, and that they (Rockstar and others) aren't afraid of those that whine and cry about political correctness and those that blame violence on everything from Twinkies to video games!

"The Running Man" meets "The Warriors"

Thats the best way to describe this game. Your a convict that's just been executed(not really) fighting your way through different areas of Carcer City for your freedom, just like in the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic. The gangs that are hunting you down in this game resemble the way the gangs in "The Warriors" are, mostly all the gang members in each gang dress alike and have their own styles. You got your normal thug gang "The Hoods", those loveable neo-Nazis "The Skinz", crazed war vets "The Wardogs", the homeboys from the barrio "The Innocentz" and the always cheerful and full of happiness gang "The Smileys". Each gang is under the control of "The Director" Lionel Starkweather with one purpose, to find and kill James Earl Cash. When I first read about this game, I was really anxious to play and now that I have I can say that it was worth the wait. Graphics are very similar to those in the GTA series only being a little more darker. The use of stealth is very good in this game and the controls dont take to long to get use to. Audio in this game is very good as far as music. Dialogue in this game is not for those who have sensitive ears and hate profanity( you get alot in this game). I'm sure everyone who's written a review in this game have also stated that this game is definitely NOT FOR KIDS. But sure there's gonna be some ignorant parent out there that'll buy this game for their 10 year old and later complain about the graphic language and scenes int this game and what it's done to their kids. People just never learn. Performing executions is what makes this game. You can go for Hasty, Violent or Gruesome( my personnal favorite is the Gruesome execution with the baseball bat). So if blood and guts galore is what your looking for than you'll really enjoy this game. Otherwise those with weak stomachs would do best to stay away.

ITS BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!

The hunting game, where you don't know if you're the predator or the prey. What starts out as a extremely ( putting it lightly ) snuff film and into a revenge plot. The Innocentz alone were enough to disturb most people, but the Smilies put it over the top. I can see with the stealth kills and how the killing of corrupt cops, is momentously provocative. Piggsy, Piggsy, Piggsy, you were the most horrific part, seeing half - eaten corpses, a man wearing pig skin and weilding a chainsaw ( an obvious homage to Leatherface ) and the atmosphere itself is... terrifying for most. Manhunt is a must see for any stealth fan or GTA fan if you're up to it ( that was not a challenge, but a warning for the weak constitution).

a review for kids trying to buy this game

first off this game is not for anyone under 13 at the least. It contains STRONG language and alot of gore but not a whole lot of blood. so no kids under 13. 2nd this game does not have the greatest concept either going around slitting cops and thugs throat isn't the best impression on people. ok down to the real piont in the options you can turn the sound effects off so the voices are on subtitles. and if you still don't like that then you can turn the subtitles off so that pretty much elemanates the language. except you might find a cuss word spray painted on the wall. so now that we got that out of the way we will go onto the blood and gore. it really depends on your decisions. when you are doing a finishing move or execution the screen goes to a camera view and the game takes over so you can sit by and watch the blood fly. but what i meent by it is your decicsion is before you execute them you have to seekl up behind them and there arrows form around there head. now you can either press the button and let it the execution begin and most of them won't be that bad but it you hold that button down the arrow will move and soon change color when it is yellow the execution will be more gruesome and bloody. and finally if you hold it down till the arrows turn red and then let go then you will probably barf!
so now that all of that stuff is out of the way we will get on with the cool stuff. this game has great graphics.ASOME EXECUTIONS! and a good variety of weapons. like plastic bags, glass, bricks, bats, crobars, shotguns, and my personal favorite piano wire! so i think that the weapons are pretty cool. ok but i must warn you about this game if you do not turn off the sound effects and subtitles you will hear every cuss word and more. and the f%&k is used alot so be careful about that. and if you hold down the execution button when you are doing the executions it will make you sick. now let me give you an example with the weapon wire. if it is grey you just joke them and rap it around there neck. yellow you you rap it around there neck and twist there body around so it will be more painful. and finally if it is red you will rap it around there neck start rubbing it across their neck and soon decapitate them and then you can use there head to throw at people. so good luck with bying this game. IT IS A MUST HAVE!!!!!!! BUY IT!

One word.....Sick

Manhunt is another gitty game from the creators of Grand Theft Auto. Rock* have pushed the bars with this game as it consists of nothing but brutalized killing and scary stealth. The games story is pretty weak not to mention dull. But that doesn't stop the excitement of what this game has. You play as James Earl Cash who is sentenced to death..Reasons unknown. But soon you find out everthing is a hoax and you'll have to you use your instinct and wits to survive as what I like to call "one of the worst nightmares a man can have". The game consists of nothing But stealth, well atleast most of the time. What makes Manhunt a really unique kind of game is the fact that you can do 3 different types of kills on your enemy depending on what type of weapon you have wether it's a hammer, baseball bat, or a crowbar. Either way there all prettty violent. And later on in the game you'll have the ability to use weapons such as pistols, uzi's, and my pal...The Shotgun.

The graphics are one of Rock* better games besides Max payne 2. The graphics are really well done and some of the levels and envirment are really really creepy. The gangs are also creepy such as a boss you face near the end of the game called "Piggsy". The graphics do stand out.

The gameplay is the best part of the game especially when you get weapons but the stealth never got boring for me eventhough it was overused a lil' to much if you as me. But soon once you get the revolvers the games picks up pace. The gameplay is also the reason why this game is so violent...duuhh..

The sound is just plain earie.. The sound of the foggy distraction going through your ear. The sound of those sick sick gangmembers taunting at you trying to get you to come out of the shadows so they can kill you...It really is creepy.

The game is pretty long since its a stealth game...it's pretty average length. It would atleast take 15 hours if you play it on hard. The game is pretty average I guess.

Before I say anything els I must say this is one of the most Violent and out of control games ever. It has extreame graphic violence(blow your foes face off with a shotgun and you tell me) and lots and lots of profanity such as a part were there is a gang member right infront of you and a something on the wall tells you to kill him(it says "kill the dumb $&^&k")It's a pretty graphic game and does deserve it's Mature rating.

Over all with all the violence and mayhem and poor fighting controls not to mention the dull storyline and "kina gets old" killing after killing I give Manhunt a

3.4

I acctually had a blast playing this game but still R* should have dont better with this game

This is a game of stealth, not action. But when there is action (killing) it is worth the wait. This is not another game in the GTA series, it is nothing like those games, Rockstar does actually make other things. The killings are brutal and violent, people need to pay attention to the fact that it has an M rating. But as an adult, I can handle it. As long as you know the difference between reality and fantasy, you should be fine. If every time you play a game you go out in the real world and act out what you have seen in the game, then this is not for you. But I have waited a long time for violence to be so much fun!

One of a kind.

If you like ultra violent slasher flicks then this is the game for you. Anyone who moans about the blood and gore in this game should take a long look at the other games on the market and take a reality pill. Almost every game out has death and violence, Manhunt just makes it realistic for a change. If you don't want this level of graphic violence play something else, but keep in mind when your defeating the final boss in Zelda Link still runs him through with his sword.

Really great, really intense, really violent game

I finally gave in to all the controvesry surrounding this title, from the developers of the Grand Theft Auto series, and rented it for five nights to see what all the fuss was about.
Manhunt is without a doubt, the most gruesome, most disturbing game that I have ever played.
It is a stealth action title, sort of a slower Metal Gear Solid with weapons and settings that wouldn't seem too out of place in a GTA title.
You are thrown into the shoes of James Earl Cash, a man, who, due to the actions of the "Director", is dead to the world, but physically, very much alive. The "Director" has chosen you to be the star of his very own movie, and you are tossed into Carcer City, a run down, abandoned town, populated by gangs the "Director" has assigned to hunt you down. Think of it as a reality televison show where you are the only target of a number of gangs who will stop at nothing to kill you, and you must either kill them, or die.
Your only weapons in the beginnig of the game are small weapons that can only be used in arm's distnace from the enemy. Plastic bags, shards of glass, baseball bats, etc. To kill an enemy it is best to perform a 'stealth kill' - that is, to sneak up behind one without alerting them of your presence, and holding down the attack button with a desired weapon selected. There are three leveles of stealth kills, and the longer you hold down the attack button, the more gruesome the murder. But of course, waiting longer is riskier, as an enemy could turn around without warning, or you could accidentally tread over a noisy surface in the process. Anyway, when the stealth kill is performed, the player is 'rewarded' with a short cinematic of the kill, taken from various cameras the "Director" has set up around the city. And these cinematics feature some of the most violent, bloody, and disturbing images ever to be seen in a videogame.
Still, as a stealth action title, Manhunt is great. The atmosphere is ridiculously intense. The game looks very similar to Grand Theft Auto, and plays a bit similarly too, but the visuals are ulra-realistic, compared to the cartoony worlds of the GTA series. Hiding from gangs who truly look and speak like they want to tear you apart is actually almost frightening. Hiding in the shadows, the enemies won't see you, but they will search for you, and they might just walk by you, missing you by inches. When they get frustrated gang members will scream at you into the shadows, taunting you, and telling you to get out into the open. They'll search for you in groups, and finding a good hiding spot will get difficult.
And when the guns finally show up, Cash learns some new moves, like the ability to jump out from behind cover to fire off a few shots, and then duck back down to safety.
All in all, the game looks good, controls terrifically, and offers one of the most intense videogame experiences ever. I recommend it.
