meh.. unless you're a hardcore adventure fan...

well, this game started off looking really cool, i mean the graphics are great and YOU'RE MULDER running around with a flashlight and pistol, what could be cooler?

sadly, the gameplay is very much what you'd expect from a subpar game.. running around, it LOOKS kind of like indigo prophecy which is very good, but without any of the good parts of that game.. you run around and when you walk next to something that requires an action, an "X" appears on the screen. so it's just a matter of finding X's! takes all thought out of it. when you run around, the camera changes, so let's say you run down.. the screen changes and suddenly you're supposed to be moving the controller UP! this happens over and over and is really annoying. again, it LOOKS great. it just isn't fun to PLAY. to compound that problem, you have to run around areas that look similar, so it's very disorienting and confusing, running up.. oh wait, am i running down or up? where am i?!

you have a notebook with notes from scully.. unfortunately the notes are HANDWRITTEN! making them really hard to read, at least on my TV. and besides, who wants to READ during a PS2 game?

on to shooting.. shooting is "meh." it could definitely be worse, but could definitely be better. it's just not very good. i gave up on this game pretty fast.. an x-files game is a cool idea, but didn't like this one.

Mulder & Scully go to silent hill!

I will say this is a great game. It's basicly taking the silent hill formula and putting Mulder, Scully & crew in it. A bit unrealistic for the x files, but get over it and just enjoy the game

New X-Files: Resist or Serve Rocks for Die-Hard Fans Like Me

If you are a true survival horror gamer, and an X-Files fan, then you have to play this game. I loved all the Resident Evil Games and this game was just as cool for the survical-horror fanatic, with the added bonus for X-Files fans of experiencing being in an X-Files episode. The graphics and controls may not be the greatist, but having all the original cast and their voiceovers makes up for that. And the story line is Great. Don't miss out on the great game at a steal price of 29.99. I hope there will be more.

X-File Game Not a New Genre, but loved by X-Philies!

X-Files:Resist or Serve is a fun game to play especially if you like survival horror games in the genre of Resident Evil and Silent Hill (aspects of both games appear in this one)and are an X-Files fan. Yes, the frustrating camera angle can be very annoying, and the fact that you can't change it also sucks, but it does add a bit of the "unknown" to the game since you don't always know who or what is in front of you. There are various little "Easter eggs" scattered in the game in the form of street names that relate to episode titles of the X-Files series and comments made by Mulder and Scully. I enjoyed watching the X-Files that is why I purchased the game (and I enjoy playing it). It is not necessarily on par with Resident Evil: Code Veronica X or the Silent Hill series, but the voice overs done by the original cast (and the fact that it is part of the X-Files universe) make up for it. If you are not an X-Files fan DO NOT buy this game. If you are a huge Resident Evil or Silent Hill fan, but not an X-Files fan put the $29.99 (plus tax) cost of the game toward purchasing the new Resident Evil game that is out or save it for when Silent Hill 4 hits the stores. Trust me you will not like this game.

A Game For The X-Files Or Survival Horror Game Fans

This game is for the x files fan, and fans will not be disapointed with this game, as you can actually play as both Mulder and Scully, unlike the first X-Files game, when Mulder and Scully were barely in it. It is also rare that computer games based on a TV show or movie are like the show, but the X-Files: Resist Or Serve offers a good story plot, familiar to the show itself. The real voices of the actors (David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson) are used throughout the game, making this game completely worth buying as, alot of thought has gone into the game. This is a must have for any true X-Files fan and Vivendi have done a great job bringing the X-Files back to life after 9 great television years.

Not to me

I had some major problems with it. I love the X-Files and I had huge expectations for this game. I was also excited that you could finish the game with both Mulder and Scully probably adding to the game's replay value. The story also appeared to be loyal to the show. I add an extra star only for the game's desire to be entertaining at most.

The worst problem was the cheap graphics. You only have to compare it to any Silent Hill games to know how bad the graphics of X-Files were. Most of the times, I tolerate poor graphics if the game is intriguing enough, but that never happened. Frankly, I couldn't believe the zombie on wheels. I can't believe that was the best they could come up with after a long list of bizarre monsters filed up after so many X-Files seasons. This wasn't the X-Files. This was just another videogame.

But I had to pass the first stage at least. Couldn't give up so easily. What I saw terrified me. I had never witnessed a Playstation game with Nintendo graphics.

This was an excellant game. Being able both Mulder and Scully was a great idea. It's cool to see the other characters from the show and how it went back to an espisode from the X-FIles. Even though it took me a while to play it, it well worth it. It was challenging and fun. I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves the X-FIles. Enjoy.

Kudos to the makers of this game for hitting it out of the park. What a pleasant surprise this turned out to be. As a fan of Silent Hill and Resident Evil, I couldn't have been more blown away to find out my favorite TV characters were given the same creepy treatment. I urge everyone to buy this game so that they give us some sequels.

A fresh start on Resident Evil type genres

Resist or Serve may be probably one of the best first person horror games i've played since the great 1998 edition of Resident Evil of the Playstation. By far, the gameplay is the same as other vivendi developed horror games, graphics look great but not quite polished, and the story mode is worth playing. If you like horror games, which is actually based on the hit show 'X-Files', then consider buying this. It's ok, not bad, still may be the same like other games but it has a unique story.
