X-Philes deserve this...

I am a huge fan of both The X-Files and the video game industry. And when the X-Files: Resist or Serve was announced a few months ago, I was very excited. But eventually, my excitement fell into worrying, and now I really don't care much about the game anymore. But from what I saw in terms of footage of the game made me have even more twisted feeling. the graphics were good, the fighting system seemed good, and the game took place in Colorado, which, living in Colorado, I was thrilled to hear about. In the two minutes of footage that i saw, Scully ran over a zombie on her way into the small town where the game takes place. Then Mulder found her, went to look for help in a nearby diner, and encountered a gruesome zombie-like creature ready to devour him. Sound familiar? I thought so too, being the fan of Resident Evil that I am, and it looked to me like this would just be an X-Files flavored RE ripoff. Actually, I was about half-there. Mulder fights monsters very much the same way Chris Redfield does in RE. In fact, the only thing that kept this from being another RE clone was Scully's role in the game. She really doesn't do much fighting. Instead, she puts on her medical gear and performs autopsies throughout most of the game. The formula seems interesting, but will it work? We'll just have to find out...
After 1998 brought us that other horrid X-Files game, fans like me deserve a great new game featuring the world's most famous T.V. federal agents. I really hope that Resist or Serve is a good game, and with some more production work, it is headed down the good road to victory!

Finally, a move/TV-Show tie in that works!!!!

It's true. Movie/TV-Show tie in games really can work. And this one does perfectly.

From the opening CGI teaser to the X-Files opening credits, you know you are about to play something special.

The best way to describe X-Files - Resist or Serve, is Silent Hill with your favorite TV characters thrown in. But don't let that put you off. The game is scary. I mean, really scary. The music adds an awesome atmosphere to the game and the graphics are impressive.

All the horror, humor and suspense from the series, are included in this game.

The only negative comment I would make on the game is weapon control. I found it hard to shoot at my attackers before they were bearing down on me and biting my neck. But then, I find it hard to have good control when I'm jumping so much and panicking so maybe it's just me.

The game contains two paths that you can take and this is decided by choosing either Mulder or Scully as the character you wish to be. So, you have two games in one.

X-Files fans, you have to have this game.

For those that aren't fans of the series but like scary games such as Silent Hill and the drawn out franchise, Resident Evil, this is definitely one for the collection.

Be warned, I can't put this game down for hours. I just have to keep searching for the truth.

x files resist or serve is better than ever!

This game is the best game I have played. In fact it should be the best game on ps2. of course this is my opinion. Some of the weapons and stuff you get on this game are, a pistol, shotgun, pills for healing life, a flashlight, and some other equipment. If you are a resident evil type fan, then this is the game for you. I would say that everything in this game is great. Especially when the monsters pop out of nowhere. This game is usually hard unlles you knew what was going to happen. This game is tight and cool.(very) if you play this game have a great time. I know I did when I first started. I played from 12:00am to 3:00pm because it was so fun.

AWESOME

Yes this game is based on the resident evil game engine but that is where it ends right there! The game is awesome to the detail that if you play as Scully you can investigate fully, pick up items and find clues or do autopsies on bodys and find more clues, the flashlight comes in handy also in finding clues and adding to the dark atmosphere. Playing as both characters is awesome also as both look pretty darn close to Duchovny and Anderson as possible for a PS2 game! The game is very linear however as most RE games were also which could hurt it for SOME players on the replay end. But as part of the X-Files universe it is one to play again and again to BE Scully and Mulder. The game's controls are great along with the graphics, sounds and the WONDERFUL music, the music fits PERFECTLY just like the show. The only downside to this game is the save option, there isn't one.....you have to find key spots to save and can't just save anywhere but that is the only true downside to this game. So, if you are an X files fan do yourself a favor and buy this and immerse yourself into Scully and Mulder's world.

Great game!

This game is *really* creepy, and interesting to follow even for non-X-Philers! If you have the episodes on DVD, a must is to review the episodes "Tunguska" and "Terma", as you will hit all the characters, and heck, your X-File has to do with an incident in Tunguska, Russia.

There's lots of inside jokes for the fans, I'm not even finished with the first episode, but I've noticed "Lazarus street", the beer bottles have the betty tattoo from "Never Again" on them, the soda machine from the movie is in the garage stop, and going into the "Adult" section of the video store when you're Mulder is a must...

On the main menu there's a really cool (but long) "intro" which is a bunch of X-Files moments set to a Mark Snow tune. Really awesome.

This game is really awesome. If you've played Resident Evil then you will have the buttons down in no time.

Great way to still have fun with Mulder and Scully!

I am not your usual "gamer", but was sooooo glad I had previously bought my son a Playstation 2 so that I could get and enjoy this game! Now that the series is over, and we are all waiting for another movie, there is a great way to still enjoy our favorite FBI agents! The game was difficult in some spots for me (really makes you think about the clues), but even someone like me can maneuver through and get through the game. Having the game played through Mulder's point if view and then again through Scully's point of view was a neat addition to the fun. THIS GAME IS A MUST-HAVE FOR ANY SERIOUS X-PHILE!!!! I would not hesitate to recommend it to any player of any age!

Mulder & Scully go to silent hill!

I will say this is a great game. It's basicly taking the silent hill formula and putting Mulder, Scully & crew in it. A bit unrealistic for the x files, but get over it and just enjoy the game

If you are a true survival horror gamer, and an X-Files fan, then you have to play this game. I loved all the Resident Evil Games and this game was just as cool for the survical-horror fanatic, with the added bonus for X-Files fans of experiencing being in an X-Files episode. The graphics and controls may not be the greatist, but having all the original cast and their voiceovers makes up for that. And the story line is Great. Don't miss out on the great game at a steal price of 29.99. I hope there will be more.

A Game For The X-Files Or Survival Horror Game Fans

This game is for the x files fan, and fans will not be disapointed with this game, as you can actually play as both Mulder and Scully, unlike the first X-Files game, when Mulder and Scully were barely in it. It is also rare that computer games based on a TV show or movie are like the show, but the X-Files: Resist Or Serve offers a good story plot, familiar to the show itself. The real voices of the actors (David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson) are used throughout the game, making this game completely worth buying as, alot of thought has gone into the game. This is a must have for any true X-Files fan and Vivendi have done a great job bringing the X-Files back to life after 9 great television years.

Makes me remember why I love The X Files in the first place

This game is a cross between The X Files, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil. It is like Silent Hill in the sense that you can carry an unlimited amount of items. It's like both Silent Hill and Resident Evil in that you're in a town overrun by zombies. Unlike Resident Evil, the zombies can run, and sometimes have weapons, or items for you to take from them after you kill them, and their bodies remain after you kill them. It's vintage X Files, set in the 7th season. It has the voices of great X Files characters like Mulder, Scully, Skinner, Kersh, Krycek, Covarrubias, Cancer Man, and the Lone Gunmen. It's set in the fictional town of Red Falls, Colorado, as well as the F.B.I. HQ, F.B.I. Academy, Roush Technologies, Mulder's apartment, and Tunguska. A perfect blend of new and old from the show. The controls are easy, the graphics are flawless, and the story is enthralling. There are also several shameless references to the show, [the streets in Red Falls are named after X Files episodes for one] and to pop culture in general. There's even a lot of swearing. The bonus features make you feel like you're watching a DVD movie. If you're not into The X Files, then it's time for you to get into it, starting with this game. I hope they make a sequel to it while we wait for the sequel to "Fight the Future."
