I am really looking foward to this game. It looks like the Sierra is working really hard on making this game a success. Look at the things going for it; The game is based on a 3 episode script penned by a writer who worked on the series, It takes place during season 7 (how convienent since the DVD's are coming out in May), David and Gillian and the rest of the cast have voiced the game, You finally get to play as either Mulder or Scully, and you finally get your hands dirty and perform autopsies! HOW COOL IS THAT!
I enjoyed playing the first X-Files game on the PS one system, but once I was done with it there was no desire to play it again. It had no replay value. The developers are saying that this game will have 15-19 hours of playing time. With the ablility to play as either Mulder or Scully there will be more replay value.
I think this game will be a must have for fans and it will appeal to gamers who enjoy survival Horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. So for those X-Philers who don't have a PS2 or XBox, you should either consider getting one or make plans to confiscate your friends game systems because "The Truth" will be out there this summer!

X-Philes deserve this...

I am a huge fan of both The X-Files and the video game industry. And when the X-Files: Resist or Serve was announced a few months ago, I was very excited. But eventually, my excitement fell into worrying, and now I really don't care much about the game anymore. But from what I saw in terms of footage of the game made me have even more twisted feeling. the graphics were good, the fighting system seemed good, and the game took place in Colorado, which, living in Colorado, I was thrilled to hear about. In the two minutes of footage that i saw, Scully ran over a zombie on her way into the small town where the game takes place. Then Mulder found her, went to look for help in a nearby diner, and encountered a gruesome zombie-like creature ready to devour him. Sound familiar? I thought so too, being the fan of Resident Evil that I am, and it looked to me like this would just be an X-Files flavored RE ripoff. Actually, I was about half-there. Mulder fights monsters very much the same way Chris Redfield does in RE. In fact, the only thing that kept this from being another RE clone was Scully's role in the game. She really doesn't do much fighting. Instead, she puts on her medical gear and performs autopsies throughout most of the game. The formula seems interesting, but will it work? We'll just have to find out...
After 1998 brought us that other horrid X-Files game, fans like me deserve a great new game featuring the world's most famous T.V. federal agents. I really hope that Resist or Serve is a good game, and with some more production work, it is headed down the good road to victory!

Sooner than you thought!

Well, the X-Files is back...in videogame form at least. And it was well worth the wait. As an X-Phile, I am extremely happy with the game, and I recommend it to all X-Philes. For the avid gamer (but not necessarily a fan of the show), you will definitely enjoy this game. It is a lot of fun, and creepy at the same time. It really draws you in, and it's not some walk in the park. Well worth taking a look at. One of my favorites already.

I have played this game!

This game is a mix of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Extermination.

Examples:
Controls are just like Silent Hill 2.
Cammera shots are like Resident Evil (viewpoints are fixed)
Inventory System is like Resident Evil.
Health display is taken from Extermination. (Infections and damage are shown on the body in the inventory screen with differnt colors)

Notes:
Pick who you want to play (each has different storyline)
Mulder's game is more action packed than Scully's.
Scully's game is more problem solving.
Game is divided into 3 Episodes: 2 Acts each

Pros:
Detail is great in every aspect of game.
Controls are real easy to learn.
Has DVD-like special features unlocked as you progress
No limit to inventory as you go through each act

Cons:
No Difficult level settings in option menu
Very Dark in certain areas make it hard to see what's going on
No rotating cammera (Resident Evil Similar)

It's better than expected

X-Files: Resist or Serve has recently been released by Vivendi Universal. I picked up the game recently and found it impossible to put down. I found it to be better than expected, and really a good game overall.

Overview:
X-Files is a more than adequate game that satisfies your thirst for Horror. It's a Resident-Evil style Survival Horror game with some interesting twists to peak your interest. Additionally, the DVD content adds a nice amount of replay value. And as an added bonus, the game is only $30 bucks, brand new.

Pros:
* Intuitive gameplay. The game is relatively linear, so minimal time is spent trying to solve the puzzles that go along with it.
* R.E. Style: X-Files patterns itself from the Resident Evil Series, and, while a copycat, it does so well. I can find no flaws in the way the game engine performs.
*Graphics: I found myself thinking I was watching an episode of the X-Files, as compared to actually playing a video game.
*Styles & Execution: All major players are by the main actors of the series. This helps the game feel more like a continuation of the television series. Overall, this really is one of the strongest parts of the game. Nothing beats hearing David Duchovney and Jillian Anderson bantering back and forth as Mulder and Scully. Period.

Cons:
* Questionable collision detection: Sometimes the game will slow down down on you, etc. Also, some of the baddies seem to come out of nowhere. This can also be a result of the poor camera selection.
* Slow gameplay: Perhaps I am a vetern gamer, but this game can play slow at times. For example, I can see things coming, but I cannot get my character turned around in time to affect things. This can be somewhat irritating, as your character will sit there for what seems like an eternity taking a pounding.

Final Review:
4 out of 5 Stars. Recommended. A game for not only hard core X-Philes, but for casual gamers as well. If Survival Horror isn't your thing, but you want to check it out you may want to rent it first.

Mulder & Scully go to silent hill!

I will say this is a great game. It's basicly taking the silent hill formula and putting Mulder, Scully & crew in it. A bit unrealistic for the x files, but get over it and just enjoy the game

I has teh 1337 karate moves! w00t

I think it's a fun game.. xD In my opinion the graphics are very good and I think it's pretty neat that you can choose between Mulder and Scully as being your main character of the story. Overall it's very creative, though the first episode kinda reminds me of parasite eve or something (*cough* I've never played that game but I remember seeing trailers for it way back when). Yeah but still.. It's fun kicking zombie-butt..! Literally sometimes. ^^;

I especially recommend this game for all ze wonderful X-Philes out there who happen to own a PS2. =D It's fuuuuun...

Great game!

Great game!

This game is *really* creepy, and interesting to follow even for non-X-Philers! If you have the episodes on DVD, a must is to review the episodes "Tunguska" and "Terma", as you will hit all the characters, and heck, your X-File has to do with an incident in Tunguska, Russia.

There's lots of inside jokes for the fans, I'm not even finished with the first episode, but I've noticed "Lazarus street", the beer bottles have the betty tattoo from "Never Again" on them, the soda machine from the movie is in the garage stop, and going into the "Adult" section of the video store when you're Mulder is a must...

On the main menu there's a really cool (but long) "intro" which is a bunch of X-Files moments set to a Mark Snow tune. Really awesome.

This game is really awesome. If you've played Resident Evil then you will have the buttons down in no time.

AWESOME

Yes this game is based on the resident evil game engine but that is where it ends right there! The game is awesome to the detail that if you play as Scully you can investigate fully, pick up items and find clues or do autopsies on bodys and find more clues, the flashlight comes in handy also in finding clues and adding to the dark atmosphere. Playing as both characters is awesome also as both look pretty darn close to Duchovny and Anderson as possible for a PS2 game! The game is very linear however as most RE games were also which could hurt it for SOME players on the replay end. But as part of the X-Files universe it is one to play again and again to BE Scully and Mulder. The game's controls are great along with the graphics, sounds and the WONDERFUL music, the music fits PERFECTLY just like the show. The only downside to this game is the save option, there isn't one.....you have to find key spots to save and can't just save anywhere but that is the only true downside to this game. So, if you are an X files fan do yourself a favor and buy this and immerse yourself into Scully and Mulder's world.
