This game is great! You could do a season, franchise, tourny, practice, 2minute drill, and just play an exhibition game. You can create a profile and collect madden cards! My advice is to start on rookie and then go to pro. When you first get to pro it will be hard, but the more you play it the better you'll get. There is a couple flawas in the game. Receivers drop a lot of passes. Sometimes the clock doesn't stop if you run out of bounds. And madden and summerall constantly say the same exact thing! Sometimes I even know what they'll say before they say it. Overall, this game gets about 4 1/2 stars. If you like a true football simulation,I advise getting this. If you like more of a quick, high scoring game, I advise you to nfl2K2. I hope my opinion helps you.

I see quite a few people giving madden good ratings with exception to the passing game. but if you would just go the AI section in settings you can adjust everything from Wr catching ability to pass blocking for both you and the Cpu until it's the way you would like it. Overall madden is about the best football game available all things considered.

I just got a PS2 along with my friends (adults) and we each went out and bought Madden 2002. Switching from PS1 to PS2 you see and hear the obvious differences. Madden 2002 looks a million times bettet than what I was used to on the old console. Players have hands for instance and the defensive backs actually tip balls. You actually see the football go into the receiver's hands. This year you can actually block punts and even convert on-side kicks. The replays are a million times better. The ability to save games at any juncture is great. When tackles are made they look much more realistic. No more of those exagerated jukes by offensive players which I thought was a flaw in previous Madden's.

However, the defensive players do not have the speed to catch up to running backs or wide outs who break a tackle or make a running catch. Diving for tackles from behind is almost impossible. The announcing is annoying as ever but you can turn it off however when you do this you don't hear the ref which blows particularly if you challenge the spot of the ball. Another problem is they tell you how long your punts are which I am interested in knowing. But the major drawback for me is that you can't make custom plays anymore which was one of my favorite features.

This game is far from perfect but graphically you'll feel like you are watching an actual NFL game. If you are a Madden loyalist like myself it is must. You will have fun playing your friends. For each drawback there is one comprable improvement so it balances itself out. There is definately room for enhancement. Enjoy. I give it a 4 and do recommend it.

This game is off the hook,what most people thAT WROTE A REVIEW DIDNT MENTION IS THAT YOU CAN IMPORT A DRAFT CLASS. WHEN YOU ENTER A FRANCHISE MODE AND COMPLETE THE SEASON YOU CAN LOAD THE COLLGE ROSTER FROM NCAA 2002, its so awesome, hey from BC's william green to the Miami hurricanes, the only downside to this is you have to buy the game or just as well rent it because both of these games are so awesome, with realtime announcements that do get annoying after a while with john madden in Madden 2002, and lee corso in NCAA 2002, now any way back to madden, the create a player is phenominal, i give this game five stars, ji suggest you buy this hint! hint! hint!

A huge step over last year's version. Player models look better, I like the way every single pass isn't a perfect spiral. The replay angles are awesome, especially the "triple strike" thing, or whatever they call it. The only thing that annoys me is when you make contact with someone, that's where the ball dies. So most of the time, if you knock them out of bounds, the clock doesn't stop. Or they won't get as many yards as you think they would. I like how you can challenge every play, but watch what you challenge...the only things you can argue are where the ball is down at and when it's out of bounds. So you can't say a fumble was an incomplete. I just have one complaint--when are they going to come out with the soundtrack?

5 STARS I THINK THAT IS ALL I NEED TO SAY. GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME AND AMAZING STATS. IT IS TO GOOD TO PUT IN WORDS.

So-so Improvement from Madden 2001

Overall this is a very good game. But I give it onyl 3 stars because there is really not much difference between this and Madden 2001 for the PS2.

I was really expecting a lot more out of the latest version of the Madden series from EA Sports. If you own Madden 2001 for the PS2 and are considering buying the 2002 version, rent it first. There aren't very many significant improvements over 2001. The 2 biggest that I've noticed thus far are that the wide receivers have more catch animations this year. You're not getting the same pirouette that was the standard catch motion for the receivers in 2001.

The 2nd thing I really like is that you can now save a game in the middle. This has come in very handy.

But some of the things in 2002 (and many other recent selections from EA Sports) signify, at least to me, that EA Sports is resting on its laurels...

* Returning punts is nearly impossible. In order to do so, I've had to pull a tackle off the line of scrimmage and run him back to block for my guy. The guys on the outside blocking the gunners simply give up. They just let the defenders on through.
* Gameplay needs some attention. I am lucky to register one sack a game, but the computer wil routinely sack my QB 3-4 times a game. This is in spite of the fact that my lines are rated much higher than the computer's lines.

Those are just a few things. The Madden series continues to dominate the arena of football games for consoles, but I've begun to think this is by default. I am a fan and Madden is certainly worth owning, but I will be buying NFL 2K2 for the PS2 to compre the 2.

I love Madden 2002's graphics. I love when you bang into the person with the ball and catch it and so will you! I love playing with my favorite team (Giants) does the Hb sweep runs usually for 17 yards. The play that always works for me is when I throw a deep pass to Amie Toomer or J. Jervious for a touchdown or a First Down. So when you have a chance go out to the store and BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS GAME IS MADE FOR FOOTBALL FANS TO GET INTO THE GAME!!!!!!!! BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i cant believe these bad reviews this is the best version of madden yet great graphics updated rosters and the madden cards and 2 minute drill are great maybe the only bad thing about this is john madden and pat summerall get annoying after awhile but i just got ps2 and this is the 1st game im getting its awesome

THIS GAMES IS HONESTLY THE BEST MADDEN FOOTBALL GAMES FOR NOW AND ITS WORTH BUYING! I REALLY DONT SEE ANY FLAWS IN THE GAME AND IF THERES ANY THAN ITS NO BIG DEAL. BUT, I DO I HAVE TO AGREE WITH MOST OF THE PEOPLES COMMENTS THAT THE GAME IS VERY COMPETITIVE BUT THATS HOW REAL SPORTS GAMES SHOULD BE. EVEN THOUGH I PUT THE GAME LEVEL ON NORMAL SETTINGS I STILL GET MY TAIL KICKED....BUT MAYBE CAUSE I PICKED THE BEARS VS NINERS AND I WAS THE BEARS ( BEARS RULE!!!!) ANYWAYS.... THIS GAME IS COOL AND WHOEVER DOESNT HAVE IT SHOULD GET IT CAUSE IT ROCKS!!
