Les Claypool would be impressed

Extremely Addictive, and the gameplay is easier than the original, with improved hammer-ons and pull-offs. But the songs aren't quite as good as in the first one, unless you're a fan of more trendy titles. Heavy Metal and Speed Metal didn;t get their due in GH2 compared to GH1 - where's the Iron Maiden??? The new Co-op mode is a ton of fun, and gives you access to the bass lines and rhythm guitar sections for the first time! You haven't played John the Fisherman until you've tried the bassline.

was a hit

A good alternative.

This is a really fun game. It gets my son off the floor and moving around. He is hysterical to watch. If you get a certain amount of notes correct, it puts you into Rock Star mode and you have to move the guitar around like a rock star. If you stink the audience throws things at you and you are boo'd. My son picked it up right away and with a little practice, he was able to play almost any song in easy mode. I on the other hand had a difficult time. It takes coordination. It's right up there with the DDR game though for my kids. My son's not a sports kid and I love anything that gets him moving. Also, this gives his thumbs a rest-he has to use all of his fingers for this game. The music selection brings back many memories for my husband and me. It's not annoying to listen to this game for the rest of us like many of his other games are. It basically sounds like the radio is on. We really love and thoroughly enjoy this game.

It even closes the generation gap

The effect this game has had was a total surprise for us even after our 20 y/o daughter recommended it. The whole family (and nearly all our children's friends) have fun playing it. The music is mostly well known to us, and through the game, our kids get to know it and like it too. We highly recommend it.

Addicting, until the tracklist gets old

I was absolutely addicted to this game for about a week. I dreampt about it. When I would hear a song on the radio, I would find myself wondering how it would be in Guitar Hero. However, I must admit now that I've owned it for a few weeks, the long-term playability has reduced considerably. I'm fairly knowledgable on rock music, but even I have never heard of probably 60% of the songs on the game. Though "Free Bird" saves the day at the end of the game, I wish there were some more big-hits. That said, it's worth it. And DEFINITELY get this bundle-pack. For $30 more than just the game, you get a sweet guitar. This "wired" guitar is by far my favorite over the $60 wireless one I also purchased. It's a little bit bigger and the buttons work just that much better.

AWESOME!!!!

This is the most entertaining family video game we have ever owned. My kids are 7 & 12 and they love it as much as we do. I can't wait to see a Guitar Hero 3. The music is great, the challenge is great, this is just an all around fun game.

I purchased this for my 15 year old son at Christmas, but it's been fun for the whole family. If you liked Dance Dance Revolution, this is the same idea with a guitar. You play the colored fret bars along with ever more complex and cool songs. Style matters! Great to develop eye hand coordination and fun at the same time. WARNING: Adults usually lose.

Guitar Hero 2 is one heck of a game. It is so simple and fun. The soundtrack is simply amazing, way better than the first, with great songs like Surrender by Cheap Trick, Strutter by Kiss, Message in a Bottle by The Police, War Pigs by Black Sabbath, Cant You Hear Me Knockin by The Rolling Stones, Sweet Child O Mine by Guns N Roses, Laid to Rest by Lamb of God, Trippin On a Hole in a Paper Heart by the Stone Temple Pilots, and a whole lot more. If you want a really fun game, then buy Guitar Hero 2.
