An excellent game that brings people together

Everyone wants to play this game. I've made friends through this game. A very enjoyable game in which you play guitar. As simple as that, but far more fun than it sounds. The controller is a guitar with five buttons on the frets, a strum bar and a whammy bar. Playing is simple (in theory), it's a lot like DDR. When the note scrolls down to where you play it, you play it. Easy uses 3 buttons, medium uses 4, hard uses 5 and expert plays every single note and all difficulty levels increase speed. It's an excellent game for young and old alike (with songs appealing to all age groups).

Rock on.....

This is a great game, first time i played it was right before new years. And i was hooked, i never got around to getting the game on account me working so much. But nevertheless, this game is beyond belief they should have more songs but oh well. I recommend it to anyone.

Awwwwwwwwwwweeesome. Purchased this game and can't put it down. Play it anytime i get a chance. Difficulty levels are very well defined, you can really tell the difference between hard and expert, for example. I would have preferred a usb connection for the guitar though, but it doesn't downgrade the overall experience at all. Highly recommend it. I will be buying guitar hero III shortly.

Great game for teens.

I was somewhat skeptical that this game would be worth the money because it is quite expensive. But when my son came up the cash from his own money we made the purchase.

As it turns out it is a very addictive game that my two sons 13 and my daughter 18 have been playing daily in the two weeks since.

The difficulty is very scalable. Even I, the 50 year old Dad, can play successfully at the lowest levels. The kids have progressed rapidly to the medium difficulty and are moving on to the "Hard" with the "Expert" still well out of range.

I expect a few weeks of frequent playing yet before the enthusiasm wains.

Even though the "Guitar controller" is the draw for this game, it is quite playable with the regular controller and the kids often play 2 at a time one with the guitar and one on the regular controller.

Guitar Hero becomes new sibling

My two children (ages 13 and 10) saved up to buy Guitar Hero II and they are really very happy with it. The wrote a contract to promise to play together nicely before I would place the order. They also have friends who come over to play, and they all like to 'practice' playing in order to succeed at increasingly harder levels, earn virtual career pay and unlock more songs and equipment.

My thirteen year old is already playing nearly the full contingent of songs at Expert level, and I'm sure it won't be long before he will want a more advanced version of the Game.

As a parent, it would be good if there were supplementary disks available for purchase to bolster the song book of the game instead of having to buy the next game, Guitar Hero III. It would be great if we could buy them by theme or artist, such as a Pink Floyd song book or a Beatles song book, or a 70's/80's rock band song book.

My kids have been playing Guitar Hero or about a year. I've heard them talk about it off and on, but it didn't spark an interest until I saw pictures that they had posted of them playing it. I realized it would be a "neat" gift for my boyfriend who used to play guitar before he developed neurological problems. I ordered it for him for Christmas.

OMG!!! We are soooooo addicted!!!!! When we started we didn't think we'd be able to play the easy mode. We are now doing Pro Face Off on HARD!! I am listening to music I never thought I would . . . you know the stuff our kids listen to...AND liking it!!

We ended up buying Guitar Hero one and a cordless guitar. I have to say that the songs on GH1 are easier (we've gotten to expert on that game) and songs more in my generation, but unfortunately it doesn't have the Pro Face Off Mode (which puts the two players head to head, playing the same notes instead of dividing the song for the two players, each getting 1/2 of the notes of the song.

Another great feature of Pro Face Off in GH2 is that you can view your "score" by sections and see which of you did better on each section (100%, 80%, 24% etc) and who wins the game by points, who is the best performer (not always the one with the most points). I believe we had to beat the game on medium to unlock Pro Face Off, but it is a huge addition to the game, so strive for it!!

Anyway....my biggest complaint about the game is that I want more!!! I want more songs!!! and I am not only a very competitive person, but a very impatient one! I've heard rumors that they are doing an 80's version, but I want a country version, and a 60's version and a 70's and . .. well you get my drift!!

I recently bought this game for my nephew for his First Communion gift . . . yea I know . . . you're suppossed to buy savings bonds and stuff, but I remember my first communion and all the money I got to deposit in my School Banking . . . unhuh . . . big deal . . . this kid'll be able to enjoy my gift for years to come and his "interest" will be a lot more than 3% (lol).

So, from my 8 year old nephew, to my 25 year old son, to my 38 year old brother to my 50 year old boyfriend . . . this is THE video game!!! We play nearly every single day (we are quite competitive lol) and HIGHLY recommend this game for yourself or for your gift giving.

It doesn't get much better than this!

Great game but it froze up a lot in "tour" mode. Had to return it. Amazon handled return nicely & refunded all charges.
