When I first heard of animal crossing i didnt think much of it that is until i found out what it really was about. You start out on a train and a animal asks you what town your going to thats when you name your town. then you get off the train and meet the stationmaster who will ask you your name. then a friendly racoon named tom nook will greet you and loan you a house untill you pay it off. After that you can do a variaty of things like buy furniture and decrotives. you can hunt for bugs pick fruit, fish. Its totally up to you. you can also buy animal crossing for GBA and use the GC GBA link to transport your character to a different island to search for forgien items. Its like haveing a second life. It also runs on real time so if its dark in the real world it will be dark in animal crossing, if its winter in real time it will snow in your animal crossing town. I recommend this game to everyone everywhere

Amazingly addictive - for those who can handle it...

I have a friend who works at Nintendo in Redmond, and I was able to pick this baby up a week before it's release at the employee store. I had been looking forward tot his game for a long time, and couldn't wait to get home to play!

It comes with it's own "Memory Card 59" - the reason is becasue when you save your game it fills all 59 slots (a regular memory card only holds 56 or 57 I can't remember...) Obviously, this is one very deep game.

The first time I played I thought, Hmmm, not much going on. I had to get a job to pay off the debt for my new house, but it seemed a little dull. I turned it off after a half hour and didn't play again until later that night. It was nighttime in the game, too! Even if you know to expect this, it is soooo cool when it happens!

There is weather, and events that happen in the town like festivals, and you can donate items you dig up and catch to the museum. You can also borrow a friends memory card and visit his village to bring new people to your town or get rare and valuable items.

The more I play, the more I get hooked. Now, when a few hours go by, all I can think about is "I wonder what is happening in AC?" so I have to turn it on and check. The town is still running when the gamecube is off! You won't actually experience everything in this game until at least a year of gameplay, due to the fact that a lot of things are seasonal (trees changing color, birthdays, holidays, etc....)

Some may not enjoy a game like this, I don't think it even has an ending! But for those who do, it is GOLDEN!!!

A+ 5 stars, whatever

Great Game for everyone

Many have taken this game as a kiddie game due to its graphics. I must tell anyone that this is a game for all ages. I definetly cannot compare this game to any action or adventure game on PS2 or Xbox. This game is one of a kind.. for now. The closest comparison to this game is harvest moon. This game is nothing like sims. You live a life communicate with other animals, continue with each day in life. You pay off your house collext rare items such as NES games, decorate your house and MUCH,MUCH more. Trading is a great part of this game because you don't require any connection with the other person except for you two to be able to communicate in some way. The game has variables in it. When sending a person an item you put in the town name and their characters name and a code is given to you which u must give to the other person, vise-versa. You can create your own designs, befriend the other villagers or torment them. Go fishing, bug catching, or fill up the museum. Be sure to get a song from K.K every saturday. This is definetly a worthwhile game which i suggest everyone should get.

Totally Awesome Game!

I don't own this game but my neighbor does and I have played it at his house and I love it!!! It may not have the best graphics but it definetely has tons of other stuff to make up for it. Things like... you get to improve your house and make it bigger, make friends, go fishing, digging for money and fossils, plus it runs on 24 hour time! They even celebrate holidays! Also some rare animals sometimes visit your towns and they give you rare items for money or their favorite food. I know that some people say that it gets boring fast but that is the point. If you don;t play the game for a while then it will have changed a lot and will be just as much fun as when you got it. I'm saving up my money for this game and I recommend that you do the same!

Worth Every Penny.

I rented this game a couple of times and to tell the truth I missed all of my homework for those weeks. This game is the most addicting game EVER! Nintendo has really Made a good game. This takes the plot from EA games "The Sims" and has taken out the mature featurs and added varios activitiesthat are suitible for all ages. You are a human living in an animal town. This game has a real time clock and is never ending. You cannot beat this game. I'm a teen and I loved this game from the start. You do errans, have a job(for a short amount of time)pay off your mortgage, and have relations with other townsfolk. Overall, The best game this year.

Horribly Addictive and Fun!

Who would have thought that taking care of a town would be so much fun? Animal Crossing is a great game, and it's only $20! From pulling weeds to squishing cockroaches in your house, this game has got it all. You can plant trees and flowers, dig up fossils, catch fish and bugs, build friendships with the townspeople, and collect furniture to decorate your house. The game uses the Gamecubes internal clock to determine what season it should be and what time it is (night and day). Certain events occur at certain times during the day, whether its a ghost at night or a certain insect at 6AM-8AM, which makes it more realistic. Animal Crossing is a great addition to anyone's game collection. Be sure to pick up a copy! ^_~

The cuddliest sim ever!

To sum up my feelings: I love this game, you will too, everyone we both know will also love it, everyone they know will love it, and so on, until everyone has played it and bowed down! Now, if you need more details, here's why:

First, it's cute! The art style is just darling, and your animal neighbors (of which there are hundreds; every time you play, you get different ones) are all adorable. I'd take them over humans any day. Houses, trees, your own character; everything is pleasing to the eye and just darn kawaii!

Second, the variety! Besides the vast number of animals that can coexist with you, there's an even bigger number of items to decorate your house, bugs and fish to catch, outfits to wear..the list goes on and on! Every single item actually has a use. The furniture can actually be moved and seen in your house, your catches can be displayed in the museum, and clothes are all clearly visible on your character. Speaking of clothes, if you can't find your own outfit, you can design your own, using a very versatile drawing program. I've designed dozens of outfits, and I still have more in my head. With all the variety, you could play as one character for years--or play as several different characters. The options are endless!

Third, the special events! As time passes, all kinds of things happen. Special items can be collected if you participate in events on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Halloween. Occasionally, visitors like a fortune teller, a clothes-designing giraffe, and a carpet-selling camel will come to town. If I described everything that could be done in this game, I would overload this site's database.

I would say that this is the best simulation available right now. If you want "adult" humor, go to the Sims. If you want a game for the whole family (seriously, even my mom plays it) that has just as much content, buy Animal Crossing and never look back.

BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!

This game was the reason why I bought a Gamecube. I played it at my freind's house and got addicted. It was really fun at first. You get to make up your name, your town's name and whether you are a boy or a girl. I had fun paying off my debt to Tom Nook and remodling my house. Then I got bored of it after aobut a month. I bought some other games and started playing those instead. Well, about a month ago I started getting back into this game. Now I play it all the time and I just recently got a basement and a two floor shop. My friend has the biggest house possible and has paid off all of her debt, and she is still having fun. we go to each others houses a lot and visit each other's towns and have a lot of fun. My 5 year old brother even has fun playing. It is extremely addictive and fun. One of my favorite parts of the game is that you can't really beat the game, yet you still want to play and get better stuff and a nicer house. I also like the Happy Room Academy. they judge your house based on your furniture , wallpaper, and carpet coordination, which makes you strive to get even more of the seemingly endless furniture, wallpaper, and carpet designs. If you don't like any of the carpet or wallpaper designs, you can make your own designs for only 350 bells (bells are the Animal crossing equivalent to money).
In this game you can interact with other characters that move in and out of your town. You can run errands for them and sometimes if you just talk to them, they will give you stuff for free! The only disappointing part of this game is that when you visit your friend's town, one of the people in your town moves to your freind's town. I dislike this feature because soemtimes your favorite people will move away and your least favorite will stay. If you have two memory cards, you can create multiple towns and your character can visit your differant towns.
Overall, I would reccomend this game to anybody but only if you have the time to play this addicting, fun game.

Animal Crossing: Nintendo's Answer to the Sims!

Animal Crossing is the first game I got for my GameCube. I picked it up for only $20, way less than it's worth.

You start out by naming your character and riding the train to your town. Then you meet the villagers and Tom Nook, who runs the local store. One of the coolest features about this game is all the spontaneous parts: finding a duck washed up on the beach, shaking a tree to find a bee's nest fall out, or even chasing a floating present tied to a balloon around town.

This game may not appeal to those gamers out there who play games for the violence, but for anyone else...this game, in my opinion, is better than the Sims, or even the Sims 2.

YEARS of Fun, Great For All!!

I've owned this game for a few years, and I STILL love it! I still play it a LOT! Let me just tell you:

PLOT
Create a character, move to a small town, and TADA! You have a virtual "life". (for info on things you can do, see after graphics)

GRAPHICS
Well, I can't say the graphics are "THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN!!!". For a game this complicated with all that I have mentioned below, who can blame them? But it's cute. It really is. You just have to see it. I mean, it's DEFINATLY NOT an eyesore, but it's not like the graphics for Final Fantasy or Harvest Moon.

This game is very fun; you can decorate your house with all sorts of wallpaper, carpet, and items! I LOVE decorating! Right now, I'm changing my house into the traditional Japanese style! (of course, I have to find and collect all the peices first, but that's half the fun!).

You can change and even design your own clothes and umbrellas. You can even make your own wallpaper and carpet!

You also can make friends with the animals in town (yes, you are a human living in a town full of animals!) and they may somtimes give you presents.

Oh! And you can pay off your loan to the town's shopowner and expand your house! You can get it to the point where you have a huge 1st floor, a medium 2nd floor, and a huge basement.

Also, there are many holidays and special events that go on in your little town. Fishing tournaments, New Year's parties, it's all here!

One of the biggest things is that this game is played in real time. If you sit down to play Animal Crossing on December 2, 2006, In the game, it is December 2, 2006. When you don't play for several months and come back on and talk to animals in town, they ask you why you were away so long. Seasons change, and every animal has one of several personalities. There are also probably over a hundred animals that could move to your town, and also several faces that your character could have.

You can also dig up fossils and all sorts of things. Once fossils are identified, you can put them in the museum, along with any fish and bugs you catch. You can also put paintings in the museam as well.

Mailing letters to people in town is also fun. This game can have 4 players living in a town at once, but they can't all play at once. So you can mail letters to them, if you want them to give you a certain item, or you could post it on the message board in the center of town. The message board can have all sorts of info, from town events coming up, to hints on where some buried treasure is located.

I guess I covered everything ^_^'. Well, thanks for listening to me babble. Hope it wasn't TOO much. I hope I also gave strong details to support my rating. Anyway, this game will be fun for you and your family for years to come!!!

-A TOTAL video gamer
