Realistic and futuristic and pregnancy... Oh My!!

I just received my game and I played it for the first last night. I was really worried about the requirements after reading previous reviews, I have a 3 1/2 yr old upgraded comp. 1.2 processor, 320 ram, radeon 9200 graphics card. Well, I must say I got the game running without installation issues. The graphics looks real nice, except for periodic grid like shadows that show up in the game when I'm playing. (????)
Installing took long, but there is a memory and trivia game for you to play while the computer is installing and doing its thing. Clever! However, by the third installing CD my brain was fried bored.

The first night was tedious playing, because I was having a difficult time getting accustom to the moving around in the different angles of the game, takes lots of practice and patients. :(
I got my female sim preg the first night :) so it was interesting seeing her belly grow, but I had a hard time keeping her comfy and "alive", oppose to the male
sim. Rejuvenator PLEASE!
Because you can pre-set their aspirations and personalities, it was so cute to see after the baby was born, the male/daddy sim took over and cared for the baby single-handedly.

Before I got the game, I thought maxis put too much emphasis on the facial and sim detail aspect. I was wrong! I actually spent some long fun time making sims that look IDENTICAL to myself, friends and family. Seriously!
I am still set in my Sims 1 ways, but I am giving this game a good bang. It is different/better and I can't wait for the expansions to come out. But I can't give up my Sims 1. It will all depend on what mood I am in ... Sims 1 or Sims 2. For all of you that have a hard time installing the game, I hope there is a way you can eventually get a chance to enjoy. Cheers!!

The Sims 2: The #1 game of all time......I hope

The Sims 2 (TS2) is said to become the best pc game of all time. With all of it's new items and genres i believe it.

Features:
.6 Life stages infant, toddler, child, teenager, adult, and finally elder
.3D version unlike The Sims 1 which was in 2D
.New camera modes Lets you see everthing at 360 degrees of angle
.More and better social interactions
.You can now make houses 3 story with a walkable attic at the top
.You can now marry Non Playable Characters (NPC) including maid, gardener, firefighters, etc.
.They now have birthdays
.There are weekends from work and school
.Kids don't go to military school if they are bad
.They will keep their memories in a ''memory box'' Their memories include first kiss, first birthday etc.

Well thats all I can remember now. One more not so good thing is your computer must run very good and it must be very new. No Windows 98 will work with TS2.

Although The Sims 2 is rated T for Teen, it has no violence, guns or any other weapon. The reason it is rated T is, because they can ''Play'' in bed but you see nothing of it, and they do get naked when they bathe, but it has a blurry sign in front of it. So all of you adults who don't want their children to get this game until they are Teens it IS okay for them to play this game. Also it is educational in some ways, because it teaches the children how to save money and pay bills (yes Sims have bills) in order to buy better things in the future.

Well anyway The Sims 2 is set to be a GREAT game.

I hope you liked my review.

Now, don't take this the wrong way...I am a huge Sims fan, and I've enjoyed reading everyone's reviews of a game no one has played yet...but isn't anyone just a little upset to realize that we will now have to start all over??? This is not an expansion pack...It's a whole new Sims game. Which means you must start from the bottom up, rebuild new families, and ALL of those EXPANSION packs you paid so much money for will NOT work with this new game!! I'm just a little upset that there will be no intergration and all the SIM work that I've already done is lost...

Nice graphics but buggy

The graphics are beautifully done and gameplay is deeper than Sims 1. Other than their needs, now Sims also have aspirations which players need to help them fulfill. Sims now have memory that grows as they grow older. That's when the problem kicks in. When you play a Sims after a period of time (around 2 weeks), they will get infected by the jump bug and make the game unplayable. The jump bug prevents your Sims from interacting with other Sims which totally put a halt to game advancement because that is what the Sims game is all about.

Even though players have been complaining on the official site forums for almost a month now, there is totally no replies from Maxis. The game is an unfinished product and rushed to ship before deadline. DO NOT BUY this game until Maxis releases a patch to fix this serious bug. From past experience, I am worried that they might include a patch with their next expansions after afew months.

Great game!

This game rocks. Why I rated it 4 stars is because it took forever to get it to run properly. Anyways here is the things I LOVE about this game. That they have wants and fears and that they age and that it is so much easier to build a relationship with someone. The ONLY thing I don't like is that your sims get pregnant. Once it took my sim about 5 days to have the baby. I prefer the adoption service. Sure you have to wait until the next day but oh well. Oh and when one of my sims got pregnant she had twins. My sim almost died because she was always so tired or super hungry because she was constantly catering to those twins insted of worrying about her own needs. Luckily her teenage daughter looked after the twins for about 2 days and let the mother get some rest and something to eat. Then the mom got pregnant again. This time only with one baby. When he was a todler the mother and him moved out. Then the teenager Angela moved out too. In the end the father died and the toddlers got taken away by social services. Needless to say the mom shouldn't have left. Overall GREAT game.

My second Sims game leaves me a little surprised, but it's still very fun nonetheless

I'm -----, just using the kid's review as I am too lazy to make an account. Anyway...
This is my second sims game, first being pets, and here are my thoughts on such. As you may already know, the sims 2 is about creating little people, building them a house, and controling their little lives. You may choose their skin tone, hair color, facial details, a big selection of cloths for you to choose for them, and a personality tool for them. You can put kids in your family, a fun addition.

Now to the point. Get ready for this: your sims can have sex in this game. Don't worry, it doesnt show any details, but what my sims were doing was very obvious. The game refers to it as "Woo Hoo". And occasionally, for example, Missy will have the "Woo Hoo with Mister" want. If you've got a male and female sim "Relax"ing on the bed one day, they'll start doing you-know-what under the covers if their "relationship score" is high enough. Anyway, your baby sims won't be magically appearing from the sky in a basket anymore. Which brings up the point that your sims now give birth after a 3 day pregnancy. Again, it doesn't show any details, apart from their wailing and siezure-like expressions.

Just thought I'd warn those like myself who are new to the sims and unaware of some of it's features. It's a fun game though, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes it's "virtual dollhouse" features.

Wowweee!!! This is gonna be DA BEST!!!

I know a lot of peoples who are excited or the sims 2. And they have SOOOO many reasons to be. You can customize characters like never before: Hair color, Hair style, makeup, Facial hair, heigh, weight, how narrow or thick their nose is, whateva!!!!! And pick out of chinese, caucasion, african-american, persian and elf. While customizing ur PERFECT person, you can see what ur child will look like, but only if u have a couple. You can make them a child, teenager, geezer, whateva. The houses are xtremely cool too! They can have up to 4 STORIES!!!! U can customize furniture by changing the color and pattern. U can have a second home (A vacation house or somethin of that sort)And they age, which is SO cool. This is what everyone's been waitin for, every sims fan atleast. THis is gonna b da bomb!!!

Excellent!

My sister and I got this game two years ago. We loved Sims 1, so Sims 2 was on the top of our birthday lists. We finally got it, and we love it! I'll list the Pros and Cons so you can see how they add up, but the pros outweigh the cons by far.

Pros:

*Graphics are excellent. Sims move in a very realistic manner, and the objects can be combined to make beautiful living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
*With your game comes a whole boatload of new interactions. Child Sims can play "Cops and Robbers", "Mary Mack", and Rock-Paper-Scissors. Got a pregnant Sim? Other Sims can talk to the baby, and come congratulate the mother when she gives birth.
*New elements of aging and aspirations add depth to the game. Babies grow into toddlers, toddlers into children, children into teens, and so on. Once a Sim becomes a teenager, youi can choose what aspiration (family, popularity, romance, knowledge, and fortune) you want them to pursue. Different wants and fears come of different aspirations. For example, a Popularity Sim will want to win a game, and fear losing a game. Knowledge sims want to see a ghost, or gain a mechanical skill point.

Cons:

*Loading times are pretty long, and they only get longer with each expansion.
*I've had a few strange glitches while playing. For example, when a particular sim brings a toddler to the cake to help him grow up, he doesn't put the toddler down and as a result, the new child will be standing on his shoulders, and then the adult sim will put him down as if the child was a toddler. Strange, I know.

Misc.:

*There is apparently a big hubbub about the whole Woo-Hoo thing. I would just like to point out a few things:
1. It's well covered. You can't see anything that's going on.
2. You can move the mouse so that you don't anything but a scenic view of the backyard or the living room and then turn the volume off, if you're that unhappy about it.
3. Try to be mature about it and don't stop your child from playing the game just for that factor.
4. If you personally are unhappy about it, but you still want your Sims to have kids, have your sim pick up the phone, call services, and adopt a child.
*Get the expansion packs. They are really fun and add things like dating, going to college, getting a pet, opening a business, and having seasons. What could be better.

I hope this review helped you. This is a great game, and certainly worth every penny!

Graphics. Amazing. Gameplay. Amazing. The seemless evolution from Sims 1 to Sims 2 features. Amazing. Seriouly, this is a well thoughtout game, is its design and innovation. However Ill tell you what's not amazing... The fact that I can't get the freaking thing to play on my machine. I have a 2.8 P4 with a Nvidia 128 card, and 1G ram. So you can understand how I felt more than confident my machine could handle it. Um, well, you see, the game, it simply locks up. Alot. Maybe about every 5 minutes it will freeze for no aparent reason, even my angry furys of ALT-Tab, ALT-Tab, ALT-Tab, could not save me from the frozen pixelated suburban nightmare on my screen. I spent the good part of the evening trying EVERYTHING to get this sucker to work. From using the absolute lowest resolution, to turning off all background processes, to even applying a no cd crack. Nada. Nothing. Zilch. No results. So my advice to you is to keep on checking back to the Maxis website for an official patch to fix these issues. Otherwise, buy at your own risk.

It would be fun if it actually worked!

I bought this game for my daughter for her birthday. We are both Sims fanatics and both of us couldn't wait to play it. While it installed with no problems, the game is useless. My computer more than exceeds the requirements for gameplay and even after doing all the updates for my drivers, the game is so choppy, it's just no fun. Once you begin to build a house, it moves rather quickly, but the more you add to it--such as wallpaper, flooring, windows and then God forbid, the furniture, it has slowed down so much it's frustrating to play. I called the company and spoke to a rep who recommended doing a few additional things, such as turning off everything running in the background, which I did, but it didn't help anything. I visited the website and read there if there was something I was doing wrong and I've done absolutely everything and the game is simply a drag to play. We have Sims 1 on our computer all the way to Makin' Magic and it moves ten times faster than this one. I asked the rep if I needed to unload Sims 1 and he said it wouldn't affect Sims 2, so I've left it on. For anyone that hasn't bought Sims 2 and is contemplating doing so, I wouldn't recommend it. There are too many glitches in this game and it has serious problems. In fact, I can't believe how bad it really is. A total disappointment. I've played it 4 times, just trying to get my neighborhood set up. I've managed to get four houses built and a store but the fun has ended. I'm actually thinking about returning it. A total waste of $50.00.
