A whole new generation of sim games

I like how you can actually be in the game with them. Create movies. Pass down genetics. I really like the features they have added. I like sims 2 a lot because you can have many generations and variations of genetics so they all end up looking different. Great game. Definately worth buying.

Disappointed

I had no problem installing the game but playing it was a different story.

Some advice that helped my gaming experience:
Upgrade your audio and video drivers
Remove any unnecessary background tasks (Task Manager)

Refer to your SIMS2 instruction manual for more detailed instructions.

Excellent Excellent Excellent

I got this game a couple months ago and I have been playing non-stop since them. If you are new to the Sims series I'm sure you'll love this game, If you were a huge fan of Sims 1 and were looking forward to this game for a while, and were just waiting for the price to drop, let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations by 100%.
Its new in many ways. One of my favorite features is the Family Tree. You now don't have to create a family, move them in and have the married couple waste all day talking because your worried theyr'e going to have to sleep in different bed's all the time. It also spare's those strange moments when a kid starts flirting with his single mother.
There is also aging which can be annoying at times. Thankfully there's a cheat to slow it down (Ctrl + Shift + C Aging off).
That brings me to the cheats. The cheats are much nicer because if you want 100,000$ you don't have to sit there typing rosebud;;; endleselly( In this version 1000 $ is kaching) but you can just type in motherlode wich will give you 50,000$.
They also have a new age group (Tennager) which is very nice because they're still young enough to go to school, but they can cook they're own meals and have afterschool jobs, and stuff like that.
All-in-all I think this is by far the 2nd best game of the decade (Battlefront2 would be #1).

Nothing Better than the Sims!!!

The Sims 2 is a work of art!! Compare this one to the first one. The first one gets boring after a day or two! This sims keeps you addicted almost forever!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you make each Sim different from one another. This game has AWESOME graphics and infinite options to what you want your sims to do. Some people say its like playing God. Its just a computer game where you make people. Sheesh... But if you have never played any of the sim games before you WILL FALL IN LOVE with this game!!!!!!! There's also a cheat code to get $50,000! just type in motherlode in the cheat box if you can find the cheat box.. (heh heh :P) But anyway, The Sims 2 is worth the money and the wait of it loading. BUY THIS GAME!!

My kids LOVE this game!

i've been playing the Sims2 and its expansions for allmost 2 years now, and i must say its one that i keep coming back to. This game has a great ammount of features in the game; that when you first hear them (like i did) you wouldn't think it was all that great (i was very hesitant at first to play this) but after a while it grows on you.

one of the big things about the Sims2 is that your created characters age and eventually die (though usually when they get to be grandparrents i turn off aging cause i love em too much). through that time they live out approximatly 80 days (two as an infant, 4 as a toddler, 8 as a child, 13 as a teen, 28 as an aldut, the rest as an elder) making friends, making money, and basically living the lives that you tell them to. there also aspirations in the game, which will give 4 wants and 3 fears. for instance, my Romance sim is afraid of getting married and has a want to Wohoo (have sex) with 10 different Sims.

the other part that i really like about it is the ammount of leeway maxis entertainment gave for players to create thier own content. not only can you create your own sims and houses, but you can create thier clothing, thier makeup and genetics, as well as wallpaper and other decorations. if your really good at it you can also share them with other people through the Exchange on the Sims2 website. in my own Neighborhood that i created, there is very little there that i did not create myself or have someone else create for me (truth be told i'm not very good at making my own stuff).

i have to point out something, and this could make or break the experience for you if your on the fence. This more down the lines of a Toy than a Game. if your not big on the imagination factor, or you just didnt like playin with them legos as a kid: this is probably not something for you. if you dont give the sims something to do, they will sit around and do nothing (or at the least very monotonous things). however if you try out different things, awesome things can happen (one of my sims bought a really fancy telescope and went stargazing one night, and he got abducted by aliens. when the aliens brought him back to the lot he was impregnanted with an alien child. i dont care who you are, but seeing a grown man in maternity is something that gets your attention)

also, they do not speak English, but rather Simmish (which is just a fancy word for Jibberish), but picture cues are given up above the sims to give you an idea as to what they are talking about. Will Wright has talked about this before in an interview. he stated that like a comic book, you will subconciously fill in the missing blanks (like when you see a woman yell at her husband and you see a simbol above her head that looks like a puddle and/or a shower, you automatically know "oh, shes mad at him because he made a puddly mess when he took that shower and he didnt bother to clean it up". i have no problems with that, but i've heard other people complain

one of things that i did find aggrivating (but thanks to the Nightlife Expansion pack is covered) was that if you wanted to go anywhere you had to allways call the taxi. with the Nightlife Expansion you get cars to drive so that did remedy some of it, you also get to go on dates with other Sims and added some much needed Hedonism to the game.

If you've ever played The Sims before, you'll know how wickedly addictive this franchise can be. Along comes The Sims 2 and I'm hooked all over again! This game features all new 3D graphics with full rotation view, video recording for movie making, and camera mode for taking special occasion snapshots. Furthermore, your sims can grow old, die, have kids, and even do the woohoo! (sim'nish for procreation). You can also customize items, clothes, skins, and upload/download with other players online or anywhere you can send/receive the file. If you haven't already tried The Sims 2, you don't know what you're missing. A W E S O M E !

Absolutely Awesome - You'll be addicted in minutes!

Plenty of the reviews have gone into detail about the extra features now found in The Sims2. I'm not going to go on and on about them but I did want to throw in my review because this game is completely awesome and I'm incredibly addicted.

The first and more impressive aspect of the game is the graphics. The 3-D images are incredibly and family and friends who have seen me play are blown away by how real the Sims are now - they even get up and make their bed and it looks like a video! Beyond the graphics the gameplay is much more enriched. Instead of the boring job everyday and the minimal amount of interactions with objects and each other, Sims2 brings complexity and variety to your action. There's plenty of ways to love or ruin your Sims life! Having goals outside of working, eating, and sleeping to achieve gives you motive to each day of play. Fulfilling those goals can open up funny animations or present new objects to your Sims! On top of which your Sims mature and age, meaning you go from playing with blocks, to private school, to adulthood and jobs (or college soon! March 2005!!), to elderdom and luxury, if you played your Simian hand correctly! It's so jam packed with wishes to fulfill and careers to achieve you'll have to buy the Elixir of Life to keep your Sim young and achieve them all!

Because of all the added gameplay you'll find more challenges and victories in the game. You can plan a roadmap for a Sim family and act it out from birth to death. Working through these challenges is heightened by the sharing of them on the awesome Sim2 website that Maxis has given us Sim-junkies. I highly recommend participating in the site as it truly adds to the play experience to find challenges and work through them with other players.

Maxis has given us more tools in the game as well! I've been so addicted to playing I've yet to handle the videos albums you can create! I've seen some pretty awesome ones on the website though and can't wait to dabble myself. You can "tape" your Sims in action and edit the clips together to create movies, which you can then share online and be rated on. Just another challenge and addition that feeds the addiction to the game.

I absolutely adored the original Sims. It was so much fun to direct my Sims life, build houses, flirt and create a family unit, and then have pets, go on vacation, and participate in the varied activities the expansion packs brought to the game. Maxis isn't resting as they have an expansion for Sims2 coming out soon and I'm excited to get it! As much as I loved the original, Sims2 is about 300 times better. More vivid, more control, more variety, more challenge, more fun building, creating, living, and dying! Maxis took the best of the suggestions from the original, the best parts of The Sims, rolled it into the Sims2 and presented an amazing game full of fun and capable of expanding with tons more activity. It's an exciting time to be Simming! I highly recommend this game!

EA games has very unfriendly customer service

Just so you know, if you buy this game (or any other EA game) for your children, you cannot make a back-up copy of the game. And if your child happens to scratch the disk (which, seeing as they are kids, is a possibility), it'll cost you a ridiculous $13 to replace it.

This happened to me. The people I spoke to at EA games were extremely unfriendly. When I asked why it was so expensive to replace 1 CD, I was told that they are charging me for the software again (even though I already paid for that when I bought the game originally).

Apparently it is their 'company policy' to rip off their customers.

After I was told this by a 'warranty person', I called again to speak to an operator.
The operator I had on the phone refused to put me through to someone who could take down a complaint, and actually hung up on me!

Best game of all Sim games!

I think this game is going to be the best out of all the Sims games. I was so excited when I heard that you'll be able to pass your genes to your kids and you'll be able to watch your sims kids grow up! Thats probably one of my favorite effects on this game! When I look at the pictures with the toddlers in them or the pictures that shows every stage of life, I'm just thinking how cute the toddlers look and how cute to see them crawl and learn their first steps etc. I am DEF. pre-ordering it. Well I actually asked my mom as a late Christmas present! I'm going to be so excited when I'm holding the package in my hands and so will everyone else who is a fan!
