Hello there, my name's Jenna and I'm 14. I got this game for my birthday and have been playing it ever since. The Sims 2, is a GREAT improvment to the much loved original game. You can create every single aspect of your family members, which makes them even more life-like. You can have up to 9 members in your family as well. Everything in this game has improved and is a lot of fun. While your in the neighboorhood (yes you can create your own) hit ctrl+c and type boolProp testingcheatsEnabled true. This gives you many options such as unlocked clothes, and to keep your sims meter up, all you have to do is drag it. That goes for skill points too. After doing this cheat, when you're in the house hit shift and click the sim, or any object. Most objects just have force error as an option, DON'T CLICK THAT. Some though, have cooler options. So as you can see, as I'm rambling on, this is a fun game, that I reccomend for kids 12 and up (for sexual content).
The only downside, is actually decorating and builiding houses, for it tends to get tiring and you'll want to stop playing before you've even taking the game out of build mode.

So Fun!!!!!!

For the 3 hours I got to play before before my computer crashed, the game was awesome! You can see the Sims up close, you can put yourself in the room with them, or pull away as in the old version. The pregnancy factor is cool, however the Sims age fast so you must make their life worth while.

The huge problems refer to the video card. I have one of the recommended cards, but it isn't the best out there. I'm guessing in order to play the game without crashes I'm going to need a better video card. Realize that if your computer isn't the top of the line, you may have problems.

Great game

Before I begin my review I just want to say this. There are a number of people who are stating four major problems with this game, and I'd like to cover them myself:

1) The game took too long to ship after it was released. Guess what, this has nothing to do with the star rating for the game. This is a logistical issue to do with thousands of people wanting a popular game.

2) The game runs slow on low-powered machines. Too many people have leveled this criticism at the game and even whined because the game is too needy in terms of computer power. You know what, I have a fairly low cost normal PC that is less than a year old, but is by no means an ultra-fast power-house. The game works just fine for me. If you have an older machine and the game is jerky and slow that's just tough luck. I want games companies to work hard to push the envelope and to produce games that break new ground. If developers never pushed forward with new technology we'd still be playing Pac-Man.

3) The game is too expensive. Not really, for a game that took a long time to develop fifty bucks is not that bad. It is in line with Playstation and X-Box stuff.

4) The company is no longer supporting the original Sims. This is a ridiculous reason to give a low rating to this game just because you feel the company has abandoned you. Apart from anything else you really can't fault the company for moving on at this time. The original Sims had countless expansion packs, downloads and upgrades. They have probably given more support and upgrade opportunities to the original game than any other computer game in history. Now they have made us something new and better and I'm sure they will support it for a long time.

So needless to say I refute the ridiculous criticisms I have read in some of these reviews. I have only had a chance to play the game for a few hours but it seems very good with amazing graphics and attention to detail. For any Sims fan this has got to be a must have. Sadly if your machine is not packing 512Mb RAM, a decent graphics cards and a CPU that can do close to or better than 2GHz, you probably will be disappointed. For anyone with a half decent newer machine, prepare to have a lot of fun!

Amazing game--The Sims 2 takes gameplay to a whole new level

I first encountered The Sims about 3 years ago. I'd been playing SimCity since the early 1990s, and frankly the idea of a sim game with people did not initially hold much appeal. I quickly changed my mind after playing the Sims, and became somewhat addicted to the game. I loved being able to control the lives of my Sims, and the house building and furnishing features are basically a dollhouse for adults. I had a few complaints: cheat codes and user-generated cheat objects were almost necessary to play the game. And the Sims were too fixated on material things--there was no "spiritual" component to the game.

Well, the people at Maxis released an amazing creation with Sims 2. The best parts of the game--interactions between Sims, design of houses--are still present, but enhanced. And the Sims aren't fixated solely on physical and material needs anymore; they now have life goals that must be met over their lifetime if you want your Sims lead a happy life. Everything about the game is richer and more satisfying. I anticipate many happy hours exploring this wonderful world.

The bottom line: if you've never played The Sims before, you must try this game! If you're a longtime fan, The Sims 2 will take your gameplay to a whole new level!

Excellent

I am having a lot of fun playing this game, but the only thing that's making me mad is the part where its asking my sim to get married to the feamle sim. Everytime I ask her to marry me, she rejects. They are in love and everything, but she won't accept the propasol. Could somebody tell me what's wrong.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME!

I'm 10 years old and I absolutaly love this game! After reading some of the reviews i was kind of scared to get it because some people said it didn't work on their computer, but it worked on mine fine! It is so cool to have the sims grow up instead of having them stay the same age in the normal sims! There are more features to choose from like the make-up and the shape of their head. There is so much more then the normal sims. I love this game!

In the sims two you can have above ground decks and 5 story buildings. the buildings are 3D. you can have children, get married n move out of the house when you are old enough. You can follow your sims to work and school, and your sims can have cars. Not everyone in the house has to have the same last nite, so you can go as far as making a sorority,to having more then one family live on a lot. Teenage sims can be punks/skaters to cheerleaders, can run away from home or excel in school. Sims will have sleepovers, first crushes and first kisses. Sims will recognize their family, as distant as a cousin or aunt, to a mom or a dad. they will treat family different from strangers. (eventually the cops bring the teens back). You can cut your sims hair and change their appearance at the vanite, and change everything from makeup, hair and clothes. Sims can have a divorce and move out. (windows can be placed on slanted walls. GO to www.thesims2.com for more info!!)

When I first started the game it ran so slow I couldn't be bothered to play, then I used the troubleshooting tips on page 70 of the book and now it runs fine. Occasionally it will hiccup. I like the game, I like that I could make it run faster. My recommendation, buy the game, use the tips to make it run faster. What I miss is the choices in the first series of the Sims, I miss the magic pack and the pet pack.... etc. I had to uninstall the other Sims to make this Sims run better.

Awesome game

The Sims 2 has me on the computer for hours just like the orginal Sims did. There are many cool things in this Sims 2 edition. First is the fact it is in 3d now. It is very realistic and you can zoom in very close, even to see all five fingers on their hands. Another thing is the new aspirations feature. The main purpose to this is giving your sims something to do with their life. A sim could want popularity, while another sims could want to make money. If you can complete their wants then this will help them do better in life and in their careers. If you hit platinum color on the meter, this will put your sims in the fullest happiest mood. This makes it easy to get the job promotion. However, if the aspiration meter gets in the red, they will start to get depressed and have a visit by a therapist or a bunny. Another cool thing is while your sim is at work, there is a situation pop up box which gives a story along with three decisions that your sims has to make. If your sims makes the right decision, he could add various points like body points, charisma points to themselves. They could also be promoted, so you don't necessarily need 9 friends to make it to the top of the business career. However, making the wrong decision could end up in your sims losing points or being demoted or fired. You can also ignore it as well. There are so many new things that all make this game much better than the orginal Sims.

A negative thing about this game has to be the AI. The sims in the game are very stupid. When I had a family with a baby, the mom wanted to keep taking the baby out of the carriage and feed it every hour. Then the dad wanted to feed it. Although the aging is a cool feature, the sims don't age evenly. You have to play all the lots to see them age out evenly. Also the game is back to a smaller amount of items to use. This means many expansion packs to buy in order to get more items.

While this game has its flaws, it is still a worthwhile purchase for a sims fan.
