Greatest game ever! Fun for all ages!

This is one of the greatest purchases we have ever made! The Sims 2 has provided my family with hours upon hours of fun. There are so many aspects to the game. It is like a virtual doll house for the girls but it has aspects that boys love as well, like vampires, zombies and werewolves (expansions required for these). Your sims can be sweet and nice or be just plain evil. This game has something for every personality. Even my 2-year-old loves to watch my husband and I play with our sim pets (Pets expansion required). It really is fun for the whole family!

One of the things I love most about this game, is that a family can all play and have their own neighborhoods and custom content. Just create a username on your PC for each of your children and your spouse, and each member of the family can play and have their own downloads folder for custom content.

!!!WARNING FOR PARENTS OF MINOR CHILDREN!!!

If your child is old enough to understand how to use search engines, they will likely stumble across adult content for The Sims 2. I highly recommend blocking these sites as they are VERY easy to get into and the content is extremely easy to install. I wasn't aware of this when we first purchased the game 2 years ago and one very popular website in particular mixed adult content in with the regular content, though they have since moved the content to a different site.

Such a cool game...you'll get easily hooked on it

My friend/co-worker brought this to work on a rainy and slow workday to pass the time. We made it so that our characters look like ourselves, which they do. It's amazing to see a virtual me. Also, we noticed that our Sims take on our real-life personalities which is both freaky and cool. I guess that's because we have to enter our horoscopes. I mean, my sims hand movements when she's bored are EXACTLY like mine. That is so amazingly cool! It took us a while to figure out how to play it (there are lots of symbols and stuff in the left-hand corner), but about a half hour later we all pretty much got acquainted with it. It's a lot like life, you have a house, friends, career, desires, and the like. Also like life, you have to make sure your sims bodily needs are met, i.e. hygiene, nourishment, and sleep. Unlike the real me, my sim constantly has to use the bathroom.
I have Sims Pets on PSP, which is nowhere as cool or as amazing as Sims 2. Sims Pets on PSP takes more time to load than to actually play. In Sims 2, you can make a virtual form of yourself and make you do something you don't ordinarily do. You can choose outfits to wear, ranging from casual, sporty, dressy, underwear, and pajamas. Currently, I'm a pickpocket, who oddly enough has to carpool to "work."
I only wish that you could minimize the window. You have to save and then quit Sims 2 if you need to do anything at the same time. In this respect, it's not easy to use if you're playing this at work.
I went on youtube and found out characters can age, marry, mate, and die. Also women can get pregnant and suffer morning sickness, and I also saw on youtube that men on rare occasions, especially after alien abductions, can too.

It's so cool, I just ordered the Sims 2 Deluxe on Amazon so I could enjoy the game at home. It's that good.

I Can't Wait!!

Everyone thinks this game is just for Teens, WRONG! I'm over 40 and am a business professional and find this game totally addictive. I'm so looking forward to this game coming out that I may have to buy two because my teenage daughter and I fight to get to the computer first to play. The graphics look incredible and the fact that each Sim can multi-task is incredible. Everything that I've seen on the Sims2 web site looks remarkable.

Update Your Video Card Drivers!

A lot of people who are having trouble with the game shutting off after a couple of minutes need to update their video card drivers. That is the number one problem that I am seeing on these reviews. It's either that or you need to turn off your anti virus programs.

After playing this game, playing the sims 1 is never the same. As an avid sim player, I think this game allows the person to get more involved with the sim. You actually feel for your sim. The animations and the facial expressions are awesome. You actually get sad when your sim dies since they now can age.

There are too many surprises awaiting your when you play this game. I would recommend it to anyone, any age young or old!

Same gameplay as Sims, phenomenal graphics upgrade

I was pleased to see that the Sims2 is basically the same game as the Sims in terms of what your Sims need and how they get it. What pleased me even more is that, compared to the first game, the graphics here are photo realistic.

The people look very real. The character creater lets you choose your Sims' face and body, you can even make Michael Jackson. The food looks real, the items in the house and the world around the Sims themselves are all presented with top notch graphics. I believe that you can actually learn how to cook spaghetti by watching how it is done in the Sims.

That's one of the other upgrades. Meals are no longer generic Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner. As your Sims' cooking skills improve, they learn to make different types of meals. Be sure to stock the fridge, it holds alot, but it is no longer a perpetual food machine.

Plus, there are now days off! Each job has a scheduled start time and end time, as well as days of the week when you work, and days when you do not work. Also, your Sims have aspirations and fears. Fullfill the desires of the Sims (e.g. dance with partner) and avoid their fears (see a cockroach). These greatly affect your Sims' happiness.

Finally, the big change is that Sims have stages of life. Infants become toddlers become children become teens become adults become elders become ancestors (they die of old age). So you won't be perpetually playing a handful of people and then starting a new house - you'll be playing a few people and then their children, and their children's children. This will be a challenge for those who never got the hang of handling newborns in the Sims. Those who don't like this feature can enter a cheatcode (provided in the manual) and turn it off.

My one complaint is the absence of parental controls to allow us to modify the gameplay for younger members of the family. Instead, the designers again went for a one-size-fits-all philosophy. It would have been appropriate to have included a means to have some control beyond "yes you can play" and "no you cannot play."

The game is a blast, however. Anyone who enjoyed the Sims will love the Sims 2, and be amazed by the graphics.

This is an AWESOME game!

I went over to my friend's house and her and her sisters got it for their birthdays. WOW. It's a really great game! You make your very own person, so it can be anyway you want it to be, plus you design your house and you can get jobs and even get pregnant! A little piece of advice just for when you want to have fun: Put one of your sims in the shower and take away the shower while their in there! They start bathing in the bathroom with NO shower, plus their TOTALLY naked! No blurs! Also, they can "play in the bed" outside if you put the bed there. Me and my friend crack up when neighbors walk by while they do it and we take pics. SOOOO funny....

Anyway, my friend's sister's game was going well, she had a family of a mother, father, and teenage daughter plus the mom was pregnant. It is so cool especially because you can have roomates or families! It's awesome because you can also have both, you don't have to have JUST families or JUST rommates. Just be careful though, because sometimes strange things happen in the game. For example, my friend had a pregnant person who got in the bath tub and she didn't drown or go under the water, but while in the tub she just died. Then the whole family was mourning and especially at like 2 in the morning or something...also siblings CAN "play in the bed" and make out with each other, and that's wrong (unless you want to make your own little story like the mom sleeps with her son, but that, to me is just plain creepy...) All in all, it's a great game and everyone should buy it. I'll be getting my copy soon!

Back to The Sims 1.

I don't want to say it, but, I hate the Sims 2.

The 4 stars is not for the Sims 2 itself, but rather for the included "stand alone" Create a Sim program. It just like the CAS that was released a few months before the actual game was released, but the Create a Sim "stand alone" includes all the heads, hair, and clothing from the game. It runs alot smoother than the in-game Create a Sim.

The 2 star overall rating is for all of the cons this game has.

* On my 256ram, 2.4 GHz, WinXP 6 month old Dell INSPIRON 1100 notebook, this game runs like crap. Installing and loading up the game ran fine, but the CAS, and the loading of the families (I made the Cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer(tv), and it took me about 20 minutes to get back to the neighborhood screen. With all the options set on low, the game animation was very choppy. Maybe its because i dont have ATI Radeon, or NVIDIA GeForce.
* In my game, the sims themselves do not have 5 fingers. they have a thumb, an index finger, and a huge mutation of the middle, ring, and pinky that make them look like one giant finger.
* How about putting chairs, TV's, lights, etc... on slanted walls? CAN'T DO IT. The only things you can put on slanted walls are windows and doors. BIG disapointment.
* The music is good, but doesnt fit the world of The Sims. Would have been nice to have remixed versions of oh say... the buy/build modes of the sims 1. they worked nice in Bustin Out for the Gameboy Advance. The new music is kinda catchy though.

Ok one more thing. Of what gameplay I actually played, (one sim, very small house) the camera is the best. You can move anywhere in the sim world. and this game DOES have cheats. (ctrl+shift+c, and type in motherlode for 50,000 simoloens)

The Sims 2 will probably be a great and wonderful game once I spend more money for computer updates. Until then, back to Makin Magic.

Can't play so I guess it's bad

I've been wanting to play this game for a long time. I've finally built a system that will run it well and I've got the time to play now. I received my copy yesterday, got it installed and patched, and each time I load the game it tells me it detects CD/DVD emulation software. No biggie... I figured it must be detecting my Nero Ultra, so I disabled it. Still can't get into the game. Maxis recommends uninstalling Nero. Ok, sure uninstall a program I used almost daily. Well I tried it and the game still tells me it detects emulation software. Unless my installation of Unreal Tournament 2004, World of Warcraft, or Photoshop CS is consider dvd emulation software, then I don't have any.

So I wonder if I can get my $45 back now that I opened the game? What a ripoff.

The Sims 2 is much better!

Yes, it may take a long time to load, but if you have a new computer it won't take long. But there are a couple of diffrences than The Sims 1:

1. When a person is dying the camera dosen't go to where the person is dying.
2. You can zoom in a lot more.
3. You actually half to "try for baby" and sometimes it dosen't work.
4. It takes a little while for the baby to grow in the tummy.
5. There is an adoption service.

CHEAT CODE!! For 50,000 simlones :
ctl, shift, c all at the same time. In the space in the top type motherlode.

Story:
My sim Bill was single. Then he met Trista Shaw. A couple days later, Bill asked Trista if she could move in (by this time they were best friends and they loved each other). Trista said yes. Then Bill proposed to Trista (in the bathroom). Trista said yes. While Trista was cooking, Bill got married to her. The food got burned. That night, Bill and Trista tried for a baby. While Trista was pregnant her food meter was all the way down and so was her energy. She couldn't sleep or eat. She died in the kitchen. Luckliy Bill was right there and he asked the Grim Reaper if she could live. The Reaper said yes. Trista was alive! About a day later Trista had the baby. They named him Josh. Josh grew up went to school got into college. But when Josh was in his seinor year Bill died of old age. Josh aced college and came back home only to see his father's grave. Josh cried. 2 days later Trista died. 4 days later, Josh was cooking, went to turn the radio on, then the stove cought fire and Josh died.

This game looks so kool. the first one was a huge hit, and the expansion packs made it way, way better, i like superstar the best. this looks so kool, i hear you can have like 4 floors and stuff. This looks like it will be 5 times better than the regular 1rst sims.you would think," How much better can they get?" well i am guessing that we will be suprised. i also hope that they work on graphics and sounds. i can't wait any longer till' this comes out. I heard a rumor that there is going to be a crapload of expansions for the second sims, although, i really can't think of much they could do, they have covered a lot. Besides School, and...... well, that is all i can think of. I guess we will have to just wait and see how electronic arts will suprise or please us next.
