I do not own the game, but have played it many times at my cousin's. It is very addictive, and doesn't run slow on her computer. Since I may be getting a faster one, If I do get The Sims 2, it won't run slow. I love how you can change the color of beds, clothes, etc. And you're clothes are seperated. Shirts, pants, and you can change the hair color, style, how fat or thin your people are, add make-up or facial hair. And you can have up to 4 floors! I like having the different ages: toddler, pre-teen, teenager, adult, and senior. I also like how your people can have breaks. You now have weekends/weekdays. And being able to shop for clothes and food, your kids actually having homework, and being able to play video games on your TV or work out! You can zoom in REALLY close now. I zoomed in so close on the mail-man, I could literally see the where the papers folded in his bag! So if you liked The Sims 1, you'll go nuts over The Sims 2!

Hated The Sims 1 but am hooked on The Sims 2!

This is a fantastic game. I am amazed at what they pulled off here.

The amount of 'content' that's in this game is amazing. There are some reviewers here that think the game's options are limited. Hu? Apparently these people have never even thought about what it takes to develop a game. This game has so many objects and so many interactions of each individual Sim with those objects (and among each other), it is a complete mystery to me how they could produce all of this!

The Sims also have great AI. I am not as amazed by that as by the content, since the AI requirements are not nearly as problematic, but still, the rules they lay out for the AI work great and lead to a great number of funny situations. I am not sure why, but this game constantly makes me laugh out loud. It's a bit odd, because it is hard to look back and say 'look what I accomplished'. Still, the game has me hooked. Both because it is fun, and also because it is extremely well done (to a point where someone who is familiar with game development - as I like to think I am - has a hard time even imagine how they could have done it).

However, this game does seem to have a difficult time in pleasing some people and it does not surprise me. After all, this game probably has a different audience from other games and computers the 'normal' gaming crowd would consider antequated are still in use by many people reviewing here. So be aware that you will need a reasonably modern machine (I am running it fine even on our 3 year old computer) as long as you have a DX9 compatible graphics card. The equation here is simple: The fact that they provide better graphics means that you need the hardware to run it on. If you do not have that hardware, all you can get is Sims 1 style graphic and gameplay and you should play The Sims 1.

The other problem this game seems to have with some of the reviewers here is that people do not appreciate the sheer amount of 'stuff' in this game. Trust me: This game is an extreme achievement and whoever thinks this should have been sold for 10 bucks just told the world that they do not have the faintest clue about computer programing and content/art creation!

This game is worth its money if you even remotely like this game-style and you have a machine to run it on.

GREAT game

The Sims 2 is an awesome remake of the original hit, The Sims. I defintely wouldn't go back to playing the original Sims-- the Sims 2 has so many more options and the people aren't as annoying to make happy. Their happiness depends a lot on their motives, there's a Wants and Fears box which makes them happier or sadder, big events (like if you have the Family aspiration: to have a baby) earn you big points on your Aspiration meter. The people are much more fun to create since there's so many options! I hope that they come out with more wallpapers and floors.. and furnitures... because there is not much to choose from compared to the Original Sims with all the expansion packs. But this game is the best, and anyone who liked the first Sims will love this one even more.

BIG LET DOWN!!!

I am so shocked that I would actually end up here writing a review to let everyone know that SIMS 2 is no where near the amazing game it was pumped up to be. The only plus is the ability to make characters so very detailed. I am suprised that the view angles weren't as great as they could have been. I found the game to be no more impressive than the original. I was really disappointed by the game overall. I found it harder to work with than the original. This is definately a game I would not suggest to buy. Maybe when the price drops to $19 will it be worth attention. For now, the $50 price tag is way over the value of the game.

great but one condition...

Im 10 and LOVE this game but it crashes once in a while. If you buy this (which I recommend you do) and it happens to you every time something important happens like your sim(s) get(s) engaged, married, pegnant, gives birth, etc.( The most amount of babies my sim had was twins), you should save it. Also when something bad happens like your sim gets left at the alter, gets a visit from the grim reaper, etc. all you have to do is go back to the neighborhood WITHOUT saving. Than when you go back into the lot you left off the last time you saved. BUY but beware.

I am an absolute fan of the Sims first games. I bought them all and was looking forward to playing this new game. So, far I have exchanged the game three times. The first time I purchased the DVD version. It would not load because I didn't have the correct Video card on my two year old lap top. I thought that it had something to do with the fact that it was the DVD version, so I took it back and got the regular version. This one would not load at all. I took this one back and got the same version again. This one took forever to load but did load. Then the stupid graphic error came back. I think that it is really unprofessional that EA games has created a game that makes you purchase a new video card just to play it. I am limited even more because I am using a laptop. You can't just pop in a new video card. I am hoping that I will somehow be able to return the game and get my money back.

What a hassle! I am very disappointed and unfortunately a lot of avid Sims fans are having the same issues. What a rip off! I refuse to purchase a new computer just to play a stupid game. Games are to be enjoyed not stressed over.

Got game?

I preordered this game in January of this year from Amazon and my order still says it will ship March 17th?? I emailed Amazon with no response yet. Considering how much time they've had to prepare for the biggest selling PC game of all time, I'm more then disappointed with Amazon's inability to A) communicate with it's constituents and B) order enough product to assure delivery. Lame. Very lame.

Yes folks the wait is finally over as The Sims 2 is finally unveiled to the public after 4 years of waiting. But is it worth it? Well the game's still being manufactured (at the time of this review) but the reviews are in and IGN gives it a 9.4 while GameSpy gives it 5 stars.

I can tell you that from what I've seen from screenshots and the reviews, that this is an awesome game (or will be). They went the 3D route with this one and fixed everything from the first one, added new features and made it more "realistic."

When Maxis announced this, I thought to myself great I won't be able to play it because my graphics card won't support it(I have an ATI Radeon 7000). But thankfully the developers felt everyone should see their hard work and fun that went into this so I can play it. YIPPEE!!!!

I ordered this product back on December 2003 on this very site. Now I ordered the guide to go with it. You don't really need it but I reccommend it just in case because hey you never know....

But when all is said and done, if you ever wanted to "destroy" your family, do it on here. Be sadistic. Be Creative. Be Imaginative. But just remember, it's your sick twisted little world. Just don't confuse it with the real one. Hee Hee. ENJOY!!!!!

The truth and the facts about the Sims2

If you want the truth and a lot of the facts about the Sims2 you have come to the right place. In the Sims2 there are a lot of unique things that promise hours of non stop play such as now instead of having a baby that just turns into a kid, babies become kids who become teenagers who become adults who get old who then die. The toddlers will walk (or crawl) around and follow their parents. Now teens and kids can have sleep overs teenagers can get jobs there are 4 story houses (including the attic). Now people are more aware of what is going on around them like if they are at a club and a fried walks in the will turn their head smile or wave. Sims can now get buff or fat and you will be able to tell if somebodys nice or active or outgoing ect. just by looking at the way they act. Now theres mirrior affects and theres more food to choose from such as an omellete, breackfast cereal, pasta, soup, hotdogs a lot of other things too. Theres sideways doors and windows and you can put makup and acceseries you can put on them. If you want to hear more detail about this duuuuuhh just buy The Sims1 Mackin Magic Exspansion it comes with a preveiw disk

Sims2 Comes out in Spring 2004.

THE SIMS 2 IS GRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT

As of what I've heard, TS2 is going to be great. I've spent many hours online serving the sites. The plot of this new game is Generations and DNA. When a male and female "play," and make a offspring, there DNA, or traits of them is passed on to their child. The children go thourgh life stages from a baby, infant, toddler, child, teen, adult, and elder. The sad news is that your sim will die. But there is good news! If you have a stage that you like your sim at, you can pause the life stageing. So they could be at the stage instead of growing more.
I would give this game 5 grrrrrreat stars because it's just going to be great. I, myself, own every sim every made for the pc exept Online because there is the monthly fee. I love the games and the fact that they are now going to be 3-D is just going to be great! I cant tell you enough. Maxis is planning on making expansion packs for the Sims 2! The game will cost more than the others. It will cost 50$ about. But it's tottally worth it! Have fun and enough your new sims game! Also, on the web, there are relaseing the CAS, Create A Sim. Where you match the DNA and create your child!
