Great graphics, but just like Tekken!

After seeing the commercials for this game it had me convinced that this was a fighting game that features all female fighters. I was wrong of course, but instead it features a slew of copied fighters from Tekken (Playstation game), pro wrestling (There is a wrestler that looks exactly like Hulk Hogan) and Ninja Gaiden (very old Nintendo game). The game itself is much like Tekken and the graphics are astonishing, with incredibly detailed fighting arenas that interact with the fighters, such as electric fences, which do more damage and areas with deep snow where you can run through the snow and the snow stays matted. The fighters themselves are very lifelike, but the graphics alone cannot hold up this game can they? The gameplay is at best, quite different, there is a punch, kick, fierce punch, fierce kick, tag, and grapple buttons. The grapple button is used to perform unique takedowns, suplexes and or throws. The moves are quite simple to pull off, whether pushing a punch button or holding back and pushing a punch button to perform a different move. Because the moves are simple to pull off that makes for a quick learning curve, but a quick boredom curve because you will be performing the same moves constantly. There are great modes, such as a story mode, tag battle mode with good double team moves, survivor mode, which pits you against fighters until you are defeated, a watch mode to see the computer fight the computer, a training mode and a practice mode. In all, the game does not offer much to the fighting plate to make it different from the rest of the fighting games, other than its graphics, so skip this game.

One of the best for X-Box

This is one of the best games available for the X-Box. The fighting engine is superb and and the graphics are killer! If you buy one game with your new system make it Dead or Alive 3!

A new member of the family of the best fighting games in the world, from breaking through walls, falling through neon signs and counter attacks that can send you through the ceiling this game is by far the best fighting game in the 3-D perspective out. I saw it at E-3 and was blown away by the stunning visuals and when it finally came to me in the real version the fmv's i saw were the actual game, if you wanna have fun from now until the next millenium buy this game!

BEST FIGHTING GAME YET!!!

I was never really into fighting games until I got DOA3. When I had PS1 I had Teken and that game made me think all fighting games were like that and you had to stay in one spot. When I got XBOX and DOA3 I loved it. You are not restricted to one spot and the graphics were amazing. But, it lost a star on my rating because the story mode was very short, you only had to fight 5 or 6 people and you've beaten the game. Also, you never find out what there trying to accomplish by fighting each other.

Not at all bad.

Visuals are as yet unparalleled on any fighting game I have seen.

No jumping attacks - good.

Lacks the depth of a Tekken 2, but for a very casual player of console games like myself, this is actually an advantage because a group of friends unfamiliar with this type of game can still hit each other with some entertaining attacks.

I like Tina's off-the-wall moonsault press and the inclusion of the Russian sambo fighters is a welcome inclusion that gives a balance of fighting styles to choose from.

Having some ground-fighting capabality with a few of the characters is good, but I'd like to see a mainstream beat-em-up like this one include some more interactive wrestling and submission fighting - just to add a touch more realism.

First Game, Best Game!

I bought an Xbox in May, now it's July. To go with the Xbox, ...I bought two games for .... DOA3 and Amped. I played Doa3 and loved it, played for hours and hours the first few weeks. I bought amped, and played for many hours as well. Funny thing is, both these great games are for Xbox. Only for Xbox! Dead or Alive 3 is probably the best game I've bought for the Xbox. Just remember it was the first game I bought, and that it is still my favorite. One reason is because it has the best graphics I have ever seen (this coming from a kid who owns a Vurtua Fighter game). They're incredible. You can knock people through walls, buildings, glass, fences, ice sculptures, stone towers, candles, off hilltops. It just goes on, it's incredible! The second thing that I love about this game is all it's characters, their's 12. Each has their own specials moves. Another feature to this game is it's tag battle mode, which is incredibly fun. Their's also Story Mode, Time Attack Mode, Versus mode, and Survivor mode (beat the most oppenants). Each is a blast (though stories are a bit corny). To cap it all off, the graphics. The players look physicly real. The enviremonts are almost real, with the electic fences, aquariums, skyscrapers, snowy worls (where u can actually mess up the snow), ice caves, hilltops, castles... I have never had so much fun in my life as a gamer. I currently own 4 Xbox games (Spiderman, DOA3, Amped, and NBA Live 2002) This is by far my favorite.

The best fighting game I have ever played.

There are a lot of fighting games out there right now, but nothing comes to comparison with Dead or Alive 3. The graphics are amazing, the controls are very nice, the characters are very detailed and the over all gameplay is great! But, it is pretty much like all the other fighting games out there. I give it four stars. The game is definitely buying quality.

Great Fighting Game with awesome graphics.

I bought this game when I purchased my Xbox system. I was blown away by the graphics when I first turned it on. I began playing and was also amazed by the game itself. There are many moves such as throws blocks kicks and punches. Once you've mastered how to block (it's kinda hard because you have to have really quick reflexes) it becomesmuch easier. There isn't much of a story in story mode but most fighting games are like that. Depending on what character you choose you will see one or two mini movies on your way to winning the tournament but thats all. The movies that you unlock after defeating the game with the characters are very cool. The control scheme is good but not perfect. The only thing that could of made it better is more extras. There is only one character that you can unlock and he is basically a twin of Hayate. Other than that it is a great game. The best part of the game I think is throwing them out of windows or through walls onto surfaces below. I would recomend this to anyone who likes fighting games.

Dead or Alive 3 for the XBOX is the best fighting game currently available. Though some may dispute that statement by saying that other fighters are better. DOA3 has everything perfectly executed. The gorgeous graphics with fluid animation, various fighting styles and characters, complex combo moves, excellent gameplay modes and responsive controls. The artificial intelligence is excellent and will learn your fighting style to counter attack. So you cannot beat-up the computer with cheap shots or corner them because they learn to escape and kick your ass. I love just about everything in DOA3 except, the sound fx because they sound like metal hitting metal. And despite the fact that the moves look devestating and painfull, none of the characters ever die or get visable injuries
Pros:
+excellent controls
+lots of game modes
+tag team fights
+amazing combo moves
+beautiful character designs
+fluid animation; almost life-like
+beautiful backgrounds
+training mode teaches you to kick ass
+excellent A.I. learns your moves
+awesome counter-attacks/moves

Cons:
-sound fx are strange
-nobody dies or gets permanant injuries
Dead or Alive 3 is a spectacular fighting game because it looks amazing and plays amazing. I think it is the best fighting game out there.
