A great FPS thats better than Frontline.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is a huge improvment over Frontline.

First of all, the game is even more dramatic. It starts off with the Pearl Harbor bombing scene, which is even more dramatic than the Omaha Beach scene Frontline started with. The game's levels are much more fun, and are more exciting. Rather than leading you down a linear path like in Frontline, there are several paths, and many ways to get each thing done. However, there are no puzzles, just bigger and more complex levels.

Rising Sun takes place in the Pacific. Certain levels have you in a boat, and the water effects are incredible. Graphics are very good, with more detail than in the first. There is still no blood or gore. The sound effectds are again excellent, and the music adds to the cinematic feel.

Control is great as well. There are two setups to choose from, just like in Frontline. One is classic, using one analog stick. The other is a dual analog stick setup that plays like Red Faction 2 or Halo. You can also fully customize it from the options menu.

Multiplayer is included this time around. It feels much better than the muliplayer mode from Frontline. The levels are well designed, and there are over 15 of them. There is no online play, but four player split screen is supported.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is a must buy FPS. It is historically accurate, and Frontline's flaws are cleaned up.

lets hear it for the MOH franchise!

I remember watching Saving Private Ryan and being in awe at the cinematography. Then I played MOH Frontline and I nearly cried at how amazing it was. The sounds of the bullets and the sight of the tracers flying past on the opening beach level hooked me right there and then. Now Rising Sun has yet another dramatic opening which I can't wait to get my hands onto. I saw the demo and now my only dilemma is if I have enough money to get this game, BG:DA2, and Freedom Fighters.
I recommend this game to anyone who has enjoyed at least one first person shooter in their lives. There is some tactical elements in the game too, so all you footy idiots may not cope.

While this is a great game and very fun to play there is just not enough new to the series.Graphicly I'ts quite out dated I was really hoping to see some more new stuff like more weopons and much better graphics. And the game is very very short I beat it in less than 4 hours. While this is not a bad game it just falls short by todays standards. Rent it first to see if you like it.

great game, too short

First off, i loved this game, yet i feel sort of decieved, ive been reading previews and reviews for months now, all of which claim that this game features 10 levels, from pearl harbor to a philippine pow camp. I have beat this game already and i count 9 levels. The pow camp level which every preview website speaks of simply doesnt seem to exist, unless its a secret level to be unlocked? If anybody has also found this ackward please let me know because maybe im missing something here.

Could it get any better?

Been a fan of this series, and would honestly consider them to be the best 1st person shooter games to date. I am still in love with Frontline, but I have to say that Rising Sun exceeds any sort of expectation I might have hoped for. Story line is awesome. Graphics are top notch: more thought-provoked. And most of all, the friggin score. It is an amazing game that has yet to let me down.

First of all, anyone expecting major innovations in this lackluster sequel to medal of honor frontline will be disappointed. This version is not even up to par with frontline. The graphics are average, the AI is almost non-existent(enemies standing in place 10 feet away while you reload, if they even notice you firing on them in the first place), the enemies also can take up to 10 shots, including head shots, before they go down. My friend and I played multiplayer and shot the nips at point blank range with .45's and a spingfield rifle and it still took 4-6 shots to kill them. Is this realistic? No, it's frustrating as hell when your getting shot at from all directions. This sequel was massacred almost as bad as Red Faction was with it's lame sequel. "Money, Money, Money, let's pump out another sequel and cash in before they find out whats goin on." I can almost here the executives mantra. If they do the same to Halo 2 I'm going to smash my x-box on the street! Thank you EA, nice job. Have a nice day.

P.S. my buddy Paul's still shaking his head in disgust with the ending.

I am new to the medal of honor series, and i dindt know what to expect. I was pretty bored one night, so i went out and bought rising sun. I have to admit, it is really fun. The graphics are pretty good, and if you have the dolby sound hooked up the audio is just sweet. The missions are terribly challenging, but just right to not get horribly fustrating. All in all i would say if you are a fan of the medal of honor games i would suggest getting this. And if you are new to the series, as was i, go ahead and give this game a shot. Any fan of a FPS should like this. Ultimatly, this game is good, but it is just somethign to last me till HALO 2 comes out.

Is this the year 2003?

I thought by now that video game companies would allow you to FULLY customize the controls....I WAS WRONG!!! When you zoom in on someone the analog stick SWITCHES on you! It is impossible to get used to these controls after playing normal games like Halo, Timesplitters 2, Brute Force, etc. Why do they switch? I'm not an idiot. I set up all the controls the best possible way.

The graphics are bad, the AI is dumb.

Oh yeah, when doing co-opertive split-screen with a friend, the game will "pull" you to the other player's location if you get more than about 20 yards (video game yards) apart.

Awful, Awful game!!!!!!

EA sucked all of the drama and action that really sucked me in with the first Medal of Honor and has put out a game that is merely 'ok'. This would be fine and dandy with me, at least a 3 star rating because the game play is ok enough (with some problems that have been outlined elsewhere) but I sat down with this game and completed it in 4 hours.

The storyline was weak and left you kind of scratching your head about where you were or what you were doing -- there's nothing compelling at ALL here. After the first few letters from my sister I only kept watching those scenes because I paid for the game.

Don't even think about buying this one. Rent it if you must, or buy it used -- Challenge Everything? Well, EA's developers certainly do appear to be challenged....

A weekend rental... don't buy!

Although I didn't think this game was totally awful I was definitely disappointed. The ability to have two players is great. But the graphics were average or less and the entire game took a friend and I only about 6 hours to finish! The cut scenes were nice but the gameplay was fairly repetitive and obvious. Even though they say you can "choose your own path" what that seems to boil down to is going around the rock on the left or right side. The game is still very linear. So rent it, beat it in a night or two and then you won't feel the need to ever play it again.
