Guys from Midway: haven't you played DOA3?

I love Mortal Kombat, but I really wanted this sequel to be the best of all, but it happens to be the worst, not only the worst of the series, but I think is the worst fighting game I HAVE EVER SEEN, I mean, Soul Calibur set a new standrad for the fighting genre, then Dead or Alive 3 raised this standard, but the guys from Midway believe that this game is the only one in this genre, and appears that the don't care about the competition.

This game RuLeZ!

Mortal Kombat was the first real action fighting game in pc history with blood and brutal fatalities! The new 3D look (Not as MK4, but much better than that...) gives MK a 'new life' and therefore MKDA will score real high in the 'fighting game -lists' !!!

There are so many better games!

Now, when I saw the game the first time it looked great. The graphics look extremely smooth and the (excessive) blood effects add a very arcade style feeling to the game.
But when I actually played it it was horrible! I feel like there is a 0.1 second lag whenever I push a button. There is absolutely no feeling of actual control over the fighters, like there is in DOA3. The different styles are a nice idea, but in my opinion totaly useless. Why didn't they make a new fighter for each style then?
Even in Shenmue II, which is not even mainly about fighting, the fighting feels more controlable.
This game is for people who enjoy to see extreme blood effects or need "Fatality Moves" to finish a fight.
Everybody else should stick with DOA3, wait for Soulcaliber2, or maybe even buy ShenmueII. (Although this would be wierd)

simply awesome

I bought this game as it was walked into the store by the u.p.s man. Ive been a big fan since the first game when my mom wouldnt let me play it. I would have to say that this game brings home the series. Although they could have done better on the fatalitys, some are so lame but some are awesome also, its about 50, 50, But that isnt that bad, the game play is awesome and the krypt was a real good idea. I enjoyed having to earn the extra players and to also see stuff that i never have before about the past games. Its a must have for any mortal kombat fan or fighting game fan. Plainly awesome.

Fine

This game features more stuff than you can think. And with over 600 koffins to unlock for surprises, it will be a game that will be played for a long time. Not like earlier versions that only take 30 minute to beat. This game is the best game I've ever played.

Like all fighting games, I wanted to see how fast I can beat it!.........at least with one character! Unlike Virtua Fighters and Takken, you can't just push random buttons hoping to massacre your opponents, you will need little practice. All characters, sounds and maps are dark, spooky and creative "the way it suppose to be"... the graphics are impressive and smooth. My 5 star rating is based on the whole playing experience to the smallest details: Camera movements are stylish, and just like kung-fu flix, blocking involves various combinations of harms and legs movements, not just an harm standing up like a tree! Ability to switch to different fighting styles may be the new standard for fighting games. I could say a lot more about this treasure, but if your a fan of fighting games, don't think, just get it!. Due to extreme violent content this game portrait; be ready to see raging parents and politicians attacking this title for a second round!

Mortal Kombat at its finest!

I am a hardcore mortal kombat fan. When this game hit the shelves, I jumped for it. I played and .... WOW. This game rocks! A new 3D fighting system allows easy blocks. The fatalities are awesome. The best mortal kombat game EVERRRR!!!

Sloppy play and lack of focus/direction drag this game down

This game has been in development for quite a while, and in some parts it shows and in other parts it looks like the game was put together in a week. Based on today's standards there wasn't really a lot that drew me in. The graphics are nothing the ps2 couldn't muster, and the music pales to the 16-bit iterations. The player models look really funny. Backgrounds are really still and boring, and no walls are used. A lot of the background themes do not relate at all to the series. Didn't mortal kombat 3 have crumbling stages? The sound effects are not mixed well enough together, but are passable. Player chatter is extremely weak, compared to other titles in similar genres. Speaking of fighters, if you ever play games like virtua fighter 4, tekken 3, and soul calibur this just doesn't live up to that, so that may be in your head. also, the animation is not a pretty sight to behold. The special moves are horrible, again the 16-bit versions upstage DA in this category. And where are the stables like sheng tsung's morph, scorpion's teleport, and others?? Also, the controls are not responsive to what you press until over a half-second. Gameplay is not balanced at all, the weapons are too strong. Performing moves overall seems sporatic. I also will say the story [stinks], endings [stinks], and game modes [sucks]. Konquest sounds cool, but all it is is just a repetitive training level...zzz..zz. And it floors me that midway omitted stage fatalities, something in mortal kombat ONE, and then decided to go with 1 fatality per person. They were wasting time trying to mimic other fighters mode's instead, instead the could of had hundred's of fatalities on the xbox's hardrive. Overall Mortal Kombat deadly allience isn't worth the money, anything noteworthy it does another fighter on the market does much better.

Not worthy of the MK title

This game takes the old Mortal Kombat games and tosses them in the blender. The result is this game: The old characters with a few new movies and alot of new combos.
The catch is that the combo's take precision button presses to pull off. You may remember the old MK games where you could do a little bit of button mashing and get the 12 hit maximum damage combo, practice a little and that's that. In this game you have to do it exactly or you fail. It's a real pain.
If it weren't for this serious element in the game, this would be the ultimate of MK games ever. But alas they decided to favor the non-button mashing crowd, those that press buttons calmly expecting everything to work (which in this game is the key to success).
