LOOKS AS GOOD AS A PS2 GAME CAN GET

This game looks as good as a PS2 game can get. My dad has ordered Gran Turismo 3 because Gran Turismo 2 is such a great game indeed. I wish my mum really got it wih my Playstation 2. If you are playing Formula One 2002 which i do all the time you should start swearing at the screen and kicking your Playstation 2. The graphics are very good. My friend Sean Dempsey (whos not my friend anymore) has the demo. I haven't played it. But The Original Sucks.PS:That kid who gave it 1 star should get off the internet and is dumb.

OVERALL GREAT GAME, BUT I WAS A BIT DISSAPOINTED

i bought Gran Turismo when it first came out, and i loved it, i also bought Gran Turismo 2, when it first came out, and i loved it more(it's a 5 star game)
but when i bought Gran Turismo 3, i was greatly dissapointed
the thing that earned 3 stars was the amazing graphics(i have never seen graphics so great in a racing game before) but the game lacked classic cars, the only classic cars you can get are the Ford GT40 and the Shelby Cobra, if you want a racing game with more playability buy Gran Turismo 2, but if you are one of those people that think that graphics is the only thing that matters, buy Gran Turismo 3

Nice game if you don't want a realistic racer

Don't get me wrong. The cars look great. The parts upgrades are awsome. But there is darn little realism in the racing. Got a problem with the guy right ahead of you? Just smack him into the wall on the next turn. Sure, you'll slow down some, but he will slow down a lot and you won't do ANY damage to you car. Nope, no matter how bad you screw up and hit the wall, you still have a factory clean race car with no mechanical problems. I prefer there to be some sort of realism with collisions, but that may just be me.

Best Racing Game EVER!

I started out with GT1 years ago when I first got my PSX. I loved it and couldn't wait for GT2. When it finally came out it was the BEST!But GT3....aw man!IT ROCKS! This game came with my PS2(That's the way I wanted it) and I am glad I got it. It has better graphics than any other racing game, it is the most relistic, and takes full advatage of a 5.1 surround sound system. When I plugged GT1 and GT2 into our other TV, the big screen, the graphics were boxy and ugly, like all PSX games were on a BS(Big Screen). But GT3 rocked on it!! Crystal clear graphics, supurb sound, and non-stop fun. I keep it in my room though with my 20" and KLH surround.
I cannot say enough good things about this game. There are many cars to win, then you can soop them up. Each car sounds and drives like the real thing, and when it's sooped up, it sounds really like it would if you really did.
There is only one bad thing in this game....lack of cars. GT had over 500, this one has only around 150-200 cars including the ones you can only win and not buy. But the cars it does have drive, sound, and look exactly like the real things. I belive that in GT4, it will have many more cars and it will beupgraded. I can't wait 'till GT4 come out, but for now, GT3 is just fine.
Bottom line: BUY IT FOR A REALISTIC RACING EXPERIENCE. You'll never get sick of it. Race your friends in aracade mode with your own cars vs theirs. It's awsome! Buy this game. You will not regret it.

MUST HAVE IT!!!

What else can I say? It is far the best racing game I've ever seen. And I've seen several. The cars are amazing and the visuals, sound and effects are very good. I only missed Porsche and Ferrari, but that's me. Just buy it while in stock, becuase I bet they will run out pretty fast!

This game is a total tease...

Gran Turismo 3 is perhaps the best racing game out there, with superb graphics and deep gameplay, not to mention a good physics model. So why only 3 stars? Because this game is so incredibly difficult that 90% of all gamers will NEVER get their hands on the dream cars in the game. This is a game that rewards you, with "credits" for winning races. Earn credits, buy upgrades or another car. Fine. The problem is, it is VERY difficult to earn enough money to get the good cars. Once you move up in rank, the difficulty is through the roof and you are stuck with an average car racing against Vipers and Corvettes. Yay, how fun. Also, some of the more advanced tracks, while being aesthetically pleasing, are annoyingly difficult (read: hairpin after hairpin). This is a simulation, alright, and that is what it should be marketed as. This is not a game for casual racers who want to race fancy cars--you'll never be good enough to afford them and will be stuck driving modified Honda Civics. I can do that in real life, thank you very much.

OK, but not that great

This game is very challenging. Although the cars are very realistic and the graphics are elxellent the gameplay is very challenging. There are many cars but its hard to control. Only get this game if its really inexpensive.

Great racing game... I've had enough though. I've been pecking away at it for about 3 years and I'm just sick of it. I'm at 60% and am about to call it quits. I'm so sick of going around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and THE SAME OL' TRACKS over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and again. After the same 10 (or however many) tracks have been run in the ground in circuits, YAY! GO AROUND THEM 100 TIMES IN ENDURANCE RACES! Great racing game though.

Oh Dear!

Reading this, a lot of you will be very angry and disagree, however read on to find out why Gran turismo 3 will be the biggest gaming disgrace to hit the Ps2 this year.

For starters the game engine employed is identical to that of GT 1 & 2 on the original playstation, a console that has less than a quarter of the power that the PS2 does. Sony were too lazy to create a new game engine because they new full well they could make a visually stunning game that would sell like hot cakes just by reputation alone.

The gameplay seriously shows it's age and the car physics are still to simple, much like it's predeccessors the cars all handle the same until you buy new parts, which causes them to handle like tanks *very heavy*.

Graphics are not a problem, longevity wise it is also a step back from the originals as it has less cars than both GT 1 and 2. To be honest the visuals are nothing short of stunning but great graphics can't hide a flawed and dated game engine.

Even the interface and the intro are beutifully rendered in an attempt to hide the shallow gameplay but once you get over the great graphics this game will spend most of it's time on the shelf gathering dust.

I was a big fan of the Gran Turismo series but this has put me right off of them, Metropolis Street Racer for the dreamcast is a far superior game for all you racing fans out their, it had a fantastic new (original) game engine and every car handled differently unlike this game where each car spec either A B or C handles the same.

If you want to waste your money go ahead, but if you haveany respect for the gaming industry and a good taste in games, you will purchase a quality title such as Red Faction or Twisted Metal Black.

In case you think I don't know what im saying, just take a look at Sony's game reviews in magazines, complete and utter bias I garuntee you that GT3 will get above 90% in every magazine it is reviewed in.
