This game is very well made, the controls are easy to use, and the visuals are amazing. The people in the game almost seem to act real. Challenging levels and mazes make this game great for experianced gamers. A must buy for all serious gamers.

What a great game!

This game mixes the action and strategy elements with great success. The wide array of weaponry and enemies makes this an interesting game. Also the new 2 player mode adds a nice touch to an already great game. It has a good difficulty level, not easy, but not hard to the point of overwhelming frustration. If you find the normal play too easy, there is an added hard selection. Once you beat the game, there is still many secrets too explore, because each level is quite vast. Some unlock new multi-player levels and characters. All in all, this is my favorite playstation game and is definitely worth the money.

Very well done

First of all, going into the game, I was a bit skepticle. But after playing it for the last week, I've fallen in love with it. I am most impressed on how well refined the game is (i.e not filled with glitches and weak spots so that it can be on the shelves in time for Christmas....like Gran Turismo 2!)...Anyways, the game play is actually very similar to Duke Nukem: Time To Kill...with a few instances of Goldeneye in it from time to time. Like they say, it can be pretty frustrating, but is also very addicting. I disagree with the people who say the game is short; it's huge!!!! Two discs and it's too short?!?! This is the longest action-type game I've ever seen. That is another impressive aspect of the game; it's length. My major problem with the game is that I think it's too easy. It's frustrating, but passing each level requires absolutely no skill what-so-ever. All each level takes is just simple trial and error. I bet if you had 100 people all lined up playing this game for the first time, 95 of them would pass each level at about the exact same time. You figure out where/how to sneek around, or you find out the exact location of every single bad guy and shoot him before he knows whats coming. But all that aside, this is a VERY excellent game, with great animation, very detailed landscapes, and awesome cinema scenes. I would definitely recomend that you buy this game.

EXCELLENT

Syphon filter 2 is the best game i have ever played. It is a trial and error game but checkpoints make that not really a problem. you use 2 charecters to complete the game (you don't choose which one you use). You have a lots of cool weapons to use and deicent sized levels to complete. The last level is hard but if you no what to do it shouldn't take long.i would recommend this to anyone who really likes action and a fairly long game depending on your skill level. SYPHON FILTER 2

Talk about Covert Ops!

THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I HAVE EVERY PLAYED! It's just a little too short I beat it in about 4 days, but it dosen't matter because this game has tons of replay value. The only thing that sets it off some times is it's EXTREME DIFFICULTY and you can get frustrated with it rather easily. I still, however; still recomend you buying this great game. It will most likely find a prized addition to your PSX collection. This kind of game makes a PLAYSTATION OWNER PROUD!

A Superior Action Game

Like every good sequel Video Game, Syphon Filter 2 has added hours of gameplay, expanded scenery , newer and cooler weapons while retaining the same look and feel of the original so fans of the first game have a very short learning curve.

The game's two player mode is a real blast and that provides the game with hours of replayability long after the missions are completed.

This is a purchase which will not disappoint!

Great sequel but still flawed

I absoloutly loved the first game. It was a perfect blend of many types of gameplay and succsesfully combined them. Does the sequel live up to the hype? Well...Kinda. Taking place right after the origianal left of Gabe and Lian are searching for a cure to the really naughty virus that is running rampant through Lian. However you MUST know the plot of the first story if you are going to understand this. The graphics remain unchanged from the first game and the level design is still as interesting. There are a few more weapons this time around and all of the weapons from the first game are back. There is also a two player mode that allows you to duke it out head to head with two charachters in lots of neat enviorments. Also you get to play as lian xing this time around (in two levels in a tight wet suit) However this game has some big flaws that inhabit this game. One flaw me and other fans had about the first game had little in the way of stealth. Apparently 989 studios !listined because now there are too many stealh missions and all of them are insanly difficult. The two player mode is nice although the camera can get a bit wonky at times and some areas are way too dark. Some of the secrets that are hidden to unlock 2 player options are insanley difficult to find. The computer AI is supposed to be improved but it really isint. All they do new is just roll occasionally and team up against you. Many of you are wondering why this is rated "M" there is more blood, a lot of swearing and lots of screams. One thing 989 studios improved was the enemy personallity, they will chat to each other, talk, yell and also scream. Early on you have to fight some of them with a flame thrower and it is really gut-wrenching to listin to them scream, it shows you how painfull getting hurt can be. Overall this is still a fantastic game, but it didint deliver everything it promised.

The good: Great selection of weapons, lots of action, interesting level desig!n, great music, more stealth missions, improved enemy personality

The bad: LOTS of swearing, especially the "D" word, enemy A.I. isint really improved

And the Ugly: The air Taser is gruesome to use, Screaming of enemys is really difficult to listin to, secrets are incrediably hard to find, REALLY hard stealth missions

all that and a bag of guns

This game raises the age old question, is the sequel better than the original? The answer is given about 10 seonds into the game. Heck with Metal gear, this game kicks. And why not play as more than just Gabe? The texures are more fluid than before, and the missions are harder. It's as much of a shoot 'em up like the first was. You have to sneak around more, which makes the game more intersting. you won't be disappointed with the game. If you do i'll buy the game off you. Just kidding.

The sequel is even better

Syphon Filter is one of the most enjoyable videogames currently available ... for any console system. Syphon Filter II is everything that a sequel is supposed to be ... bigger bad guys, more explosions and more exciting storyline.

Syphon Filter is the successful blend of a number of elements from other popular games - metal gear solid, tomb raider and golden eye - and yet it still retains a high degree of originality.

You play Gabriel Logan, an agent for a mysterious government agency, that has been betrayed by his own agency. With his partner kidnapped and dying from a mysterious virus, Gabe must escape from goverment agents, rescue his partner and destroy the traitors. A fairly standard setting, however, the progression of the storyline is gripping and adds a great deal to the gameplay.

You control Gabe with a Tomb Raider style over the shoulder view, with a couple of cool changes. First, you can enter a targeting mode which lets you take out the bad guys with a single shot to the head. Secondly, you can slow down and move in stealth mode, letting you sneak around guards. Finally, the game allows you to "peek" from behind walls, allowing you to quickly check out yours surroundings without giving yourself away. It is these additional touches that add considerably to the feel of being a stealthy commando rather than some soldier that runs around blazing away at the enemy.

In addition to cool moves, you will acquire a plethora of interesting equipment (aka weapons) as you progress through the game. Each of which behaves very differently and is more or less useful depending on the circumstances you are in. You can obtain shotguns, M-16s, AK-47s, silenced pistols, grenades, gas grenades, sniper rifles, night vision rifles, machine pistols, armor piercing machine guns, fully automatic sniper rifles and grenade launchers. If you are really desperate, you can alway light your foe on fire by shocking him to death with your taser.

Graphically, the level design is spectacular, each level is innovative and interesting. Similarly, the sound is extremely realistic and important to your gameplay.

I loved this game. When is number 3 coming?

Good but too easy

Syphon Filter 2 is a good game based on the continued story of Gabe Logan and his operatives battling against a dealy virus. The plot is interesting and the game play is as good as it was in the first version of the game.

My only problem with the game was the ease at which I finished it. The first Syphon Filter took me months to complete, with several levels taking weeks. Syphon Filter 2 was completed in approximately 2 weeks. There are 21 levels, which seem like a lot. Unfortunately, some of the level are extremely easy and can be completed in 15 minutes. Others are much harder but the overall feel is that the challenge doesn't compare to the first one.

The game is 2 CDs with roughly half the missions on 1 and half on the other. The first CD's missions are relatively easy and can be complete with one or two days of gameplay. The remaining missions are harder, but do not provide the challenge that I like to have in games.

I am still looking forward to Syphon Filter 3 and will purchase it because the games are very good. This game would have earned a "5" from me if it was a little more challenging.
