I bought this game as soon as it arrive in my country and I have never stopped playing it since. It equilized the power of the three races and made the game more addictive than ever. It is a must for all that have only played the original starcraft but it is also recommended to those that don't know what starcraft is, to buy blizzards battle chest, with both the original and expansion starcraft plus a strategy guide. GET IT.

actually, i would've given it 6 stars . . .

this is one sweet game. the original was good, but Blizzard made many small, but great improvements or disimprovements to the units. Also adding some new units, although some I have to admit are a bit useless. I love playing multi-player, it's probably the best feature. Often StarCraft Brood War frustrates me, but in aggod way. You think you've found the solution to a unit and then the comp. smashes you with another. Extremely addicting, so you may want to pace yourself. This is the BEST game ever, for any concole or the computer.

They did an absolutely fantastic job when creating this expansion pack. Not only did they continue with the story (more movies as well!) but the new units are fun and useful!

Good job to Blizzard.

This is one of the greatest games around

I have had Starcraft for about 2 years, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. The gameplay is excellent, and everything about it is great. The expansion is even better, it balances out the three different races in the game with new characters, and new missions. But to get the ultimate gameplay, Battl.net is the best. You interact live with other Starcraft lovers, and can play to your hearts content. This game is the best one that I have seen in a long time.

The best expansion pack to date.

How often have you gotten an "expansion pack" only to be rewarded with lackluster efforts from a development team that has simply moved on from the title? Brood War delivers almost an entirely new game for less than the original cost. As expansion packs go, this one is about as close to perfect as I've seen.

In addition to ~30 new missions (with each of the three familiar races from StarCraft), you get more multiplayer maps and new units to explore and enjoy (roughly 2 per race). In addition to new units, many existing units have had their abilities enchanced or changed.

Like StarCraft, you can jump into multiplayer on Battle.net and play with up to 8 humans/players. You can only use Brood War against other players who have Brood War (sorry! no mixing versions) -- so make sure your friends pick up a copy as well.

If you liked StarCraft, there's simply no excuse not to own this.

Masterful

The graphics are the best they could get for this genre The wonderful balance of the 3 races make it the best desighned game yet to come out. The expansion just adds even more excitement to this already electric game.Sparks fly when you start playing this game.I would give it 7 stars but hey thats just not possible.

dark archons are kings!

brood war is so cool, i love it so much. the new units are very nice too: terran medics let me send out groups of people to explore without worrying about the average marine lifespan of 20 seconds.

i personally think corsairs may have tipped the balance too much to the protoss' favor because a fleet of corsairs will simply suppress the enemy's defences (even bunkers); combine that with archons doing the assault---wow!

dark archons are kings! my favourite trick is to convert basic enemy units eg scv/drone/probe and start building things---i have another race to control! now i can combine 2-3 races at once to take out the enemy. i find each race fit together as fighting units very effectively eg. corsairs+guardians+valkyrie

enjoy!

This Is The Best!

Starcraft Brood War is one of my favorites. The new addition to the Zerg army, the lurkers, make destroying your enemy more challenging. The dark archons are invisible and can controll other races like the Zerg or the Terran. Well, if you are a big internet gamer, this is the game you definitely want to buy.

GOOD, but..............

I used to like Zerg so much with guardians and hydralisks, yes! But when I played BroodWar, look what happened! When I attacked Terran, those holy goliaths will shoot missiles and man! It seems that the perfect balance they had in StarCraft was blown away... Zerg became too weak 'cause the guardians are meat to corsairs, valkyries, and goliaths! And the devourers are really not too good... they lose to scouts... and also, the Protoss became WAY TOO strong with the corsairs and dark templars.... if you attack the Terran early(like5minutes)with a few dark templars, they'll die~..... also, if the corsairs kill all your overlords, man! YOU'D HATE IT! StarCraft seems to be more balanced 'cause now, it became ZergZerg, but it used to be Zerg>Terran>Protoss>Zerg~! But it's still the best~~!

Makes Starcraft Even BETTER!

I have had Brood War for quite awhile and I have never gotten tired of it. I was starting to get a little bored with Starcraft until I got this expantion. For those of you that say they made zerg too weak, I think you are wrong. Even though it might seem as if protoss are too strong, they really aren't. In Starcraft, zerg was the strongest with long range shooters and useful spells. Protoss and terran were the weakest, especially protoss, fitting in with the plot perfectly. In Brood War, all of the races are evened out after the destruction of the overmind on Char. Some of the zerg's strongest units are counteracted with smaller ones of the other units. I must remind you, however, that the lurkur is a very powerful fighter, especially for defence. I couldn't count how many zealots I have lost from lurkurs. If you learn to use all of the races' advantages correctly, you will find the races are equal in strength. I suggest this expantion set to everyone. It adds many interesting plot twists and awesome new units. I have enjoyed it, and I know you will too.
