Harvest Moon: The Best Video Game in the World!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 89 / 99

This game surpasses every other game made for the N64. IT is the most ebjoyable game. Its plot is different from most games as there are no bad guys, bosses, fighting, or racing. It might sound pretty stupid as the plot mainly states farming, but there's much more that that. For instance, there's a whole world you can explore where you can buy animals, grow crops, and even make a girls love you by giving her things. You can get married from a variety of 5 girls or 10 girls in the PSX version. You can even settle down and have up to three children in the PSX. The is much more, so much more the list would go on forever. To simply state it, the is the best game in the history of Video game production. So I will ask you, Anybody who has a N64 or Play Station should deffinatly get this game as it never gets boring. It's great fun for anyone and everyone. My dad has his own file and loves it. The play station version should be much better the N64 version but the N64 version is still an out of this world Boo yah totally incredible sweetness game. This game is simply about one thing...life. By far the best game and also, I would rate it way higher than 5 stars but I can't! IT'S THE BEST!

This game is the greatest! I'm a BIG Harvest Moon fan, and so far, this is the best one I've played yet! This game is great, but there are a few problems. You can talk to more people, have 20 cows and/or sheep, 10 chickens, the house extensions are easier to get, the graphics are way better, you can get more crops, and the sounds are terrific! The only bad things are, it takes longer to save, you can't skip the long mini scene in the beginning, and sometimes your horse is hard to get in his stable in bad weather. But still, those problems don't stop it from being great! You get used to the saving after a while.

You can still marry and have a baby in the game. Your dog starts off as a puppy and even has a heart-o-meter( that's the number of hearts that appear under his/her name...it depends how much it likes you.)

I could go on and on about the great improvements Natsume gave it, but to make a long review short, I'll just end with these three words...
THIS GAME ROCKS!!!

Ok, when people say that this game is boring, fake stupid whatever... I have gottin every Harvest Moon game so far and they are alll great and this one is going to be the best so far. There is a LARGER PLOT, 5 girls to marry and many upgrades for you home (kitchen, ect.) The graphic are much better by far then some of the playstation game on the market today... This game is also in a way educational too. I think that this game bring a better imaginataion for children too make their farm sucessful, they have to buy crops and plant them so they don't die too. this Game in many ways is fun and uses much logic.

Best game ever!!!!

Harvest Moon is the best game I ever played and I cannot wait for it to come out on the Playstation....I have already pre-ordered my game and it was supposed to have been released Oct. 13th but now it won't be till Nov. 10th....so I am very disappointed. This game is alot of fun....even though it is about farming it is still fun to play because you get to meet townspeople, take car of crops, and court 5 girls in which one will end up being your wife. I never get tired of this game. Its a great game for kids because it is fun and also teaches them about responsibilty of caring for things. Has no violence in it whatsoever. Seriously consider this great game and don't listen to the reviews on here by the 12 year olds...they obviously like mindless violent games and not creative, educational, fun games like Harvest Moon!!!!

This is a brilliant game. First started on Harvest Moon from the original oneon SNES, I've been a huge fan of every one to come out. The only ones I havn't played are the 2nd and 3rd gameboy ones, and the PS2 version: Save the Homeland. Back to Nature is my all time favorite, although I give all of them except for the gameboy one five stars. For those who havn't played any harvest moons at all, you're a farmer and you're taking over your deceased grandfathers farm. When you arive you don't know anyone, and the ranch is a wreck. You have 2 and a half years to fix up the field, grow some crops, raise livestock (cows, sheep, chickens, and now even fish). You get a horse and a dog that you can enter into races, and your animals can win contests in festivals. You can go into town and meet everyone, and if you're nice to them you become friends with them, and you can even meet a girl and eventually marry and have children. You can expand you home, get a kitchen and collect recipes, then buy cooking tools and cook the recipe's. This game is the greatest yet, and is deffinitely worth buying for the gamer who likes some variety, not the same old shoot em up or beat em up first person or rpg.

BEST GAME IN THE WORLD! A MUST BUY!

I rented Harvest Moon 64 because it looked dumb, but it turned out to be the best game i've ever played. After I had that experience, I bought every Harvest Moon game. And let me tell you, Harvest Moon Back to Nature is WWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY better than all the others. Although it has some similarities to Harvest Moon 64, most of it is totally different. The characters look the same, but act differently. The amount of things you can do will keep you playing forever. You can raise so many animals, including fish! If parents are looking for something educational and fun, here's the game! And the best part is that you can marry one of five girls. Another neat feature is you can cook stuff. The whole concept of the game is just sooo awesome! Of course, those with short attension spans will not perfer this game because of it's slow start, but people who can sit and play a game for what it is will find this very entertaining! Overal, I say buy this game and the stradegy guide and enjoy!

Harvest Moon: Back To Nature is one of the greatest PSX games of our time. Why? It is fun, and addictive all at the same time. You start out as a kid who visits your grandpop's farm. There you ride horses, get chased by chickens and sit on the mountain with this girl who is said to be the girl of your dreams. You sit on the mountain and you sing this very annoying "Na Na Na Na" song for the rest of the day. When you have to leave, you don't want to and you promise the girl you will see her again.

You come back to the farm and it is all messed up because your grandpop hasn't take care of it. So, the mayor is giving you three years to fix up the farm or else you will be kicked out. This is not a simple ntask. You must do a lot of things before you can keep the farm.

The things are countless. You run your farm by operating all different parts, from your house to your chicken coop to your stable. Your house serves as a encyclopedia for the weather forecast the next day, and tutorials to the game. With your house, you can upgrade it, expand it and make it a ranch mansion.

The great feature is the cooking. You buy utensils, find different ingrediants, (like maybe cheese fondue and apples), mix it together and wallah, you got yourself a home-made meal.

Like on a farm, you can harvest food. I don't mean just food. Depending on what season, you can harvest crops like cucumbers, turnips and watermelon, sell it and make a profit. It's just like a real farm. Thats just one of the great things you can do.

Aaah... Livestock. You get a dog and you must care for it everyday. Not just getting a dog, you get a horse that you must care for everyday, chicken to lay eggs, which you can also make a profit, milk profit and cheese from cows and even sheep where you shave its wool with a sickle for profit. Think of a farm in a videogame.

The village consists of many characters who you can interact with. You can hang on a beach, fish off a dock, read in a library, heh, even go to chuch to mourn a dead animal (or person). Again, the possibilities are countless.

Just like real life, you can't go planting non-stop. You get tired, so don't expect to be planting. If you plant too long, you will end up in the hospital and half the day will be wasted, wasting a lot of profit.

As in real life, seasons affect your crops. Summer is the best harvesting season, and winter is the boring time where you go mining. Speaking of that, you can mine for bronze, gold, silver and platinum. Even this blue ore is worth every penny. This game just keeps going on.

Now, the best part. You can get married and pursue a love life. You pick your wife out of 5 girls and you give them presents they like (or dislike) and try to get there love. But you aren't the only one in the race. Yoiur rivals, as they call them, try to get the girl as well. Life. After you get married, you can have a kid and can raise them from scratch. You and your wife (who really does nothing), take care of it by feeding things it wants. It's A Wonderful Life!

The controls and graphics. The controls are a little confusing, where you can only walk in a diagonal direction. The graphics were great for 2000, but they are way overmatched by '04 graphics.

This game is great. Add this to your classics in your library and you have the game that started mostly the trend for years to come!

Harvest Moon for PSX - A game worth owning

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature is a unique game to say the least. The story is really deep and involves many characters. You have to turn the run-down farm back into a booming farm in 3 years. You grow and sell crops, raise livestock including sheep, cows, and chickens. Other animals you can own are fish and horses. Young gamers would especially love this game. I am 19 years old and I love it, so basically anyone with a good liking to RPG's will most likely love this game. I would also recommend getting Prima's Offical Player's Guide for this game, as it is huge and is very possible to miss much of the games unique parts.

In summary: If you want a fun, time-consuming game to play and fall in love with, get Harvest Moon: Back to Nature.

This game is non-violent game (my mom is soooo against shoot 'em ups), it has great graphics, there's animals (I'm an animal lover), and crops. I think, it's probably my favorite Harvest Moon game of all. I started by seeing it at my friend's, and then I just HAD to play. Every weekend we'd get together and play, it was soooo much fun! Then, my bro got an N64 and I got that version - not as good, but it was still fun. I really recommend this, there's such great stuff to do!

I rate it 99 stars out of 100

Animals available:
-A dog
-A horse (yeah, only one, but you can ride it and he can jump!)
-Cows
-Sheep
-Chickens
-Foxes, Squirrels, Rabbits and Bugs are some wildlife that run around, and you can pick them up and carry them.

Stuff to do:
-Get married
-Enter contests and festivals
-Make friends with the harvest sprites
-Dig for ore and minerals
-Make crops
-Build extensions
-Talk to the Harvest Goddess
-Take a Hot Springs bath
-And more!

Girls to choose from:
-Ann, the tomboy
-Karen, the hot chick with a mind for drinkin
-Elli, the sweet little nurse who'd make a great mom
-Popuri, the flower gal pink-haired flirt
-Mary, the shy librarian

Festivals:
-Swimming Contest
-Tomato Festival
-New Years
-Sheep and Cow Festivals
-Chicken Festival
-AND MORE!

It's really alot of fun, and there's so much more to it. You also have rivals for the girls, and if your cows and sheep have 10 hearts, they can win the Sheep and Cow Festivals and have GOLD wool and milk! Harvest Moon: FOMT is also good, and it takes place in mineral town too. It's basically the same, but there are some changes, lol!

Some of the best games, are the little guys out there.

What the hell, a tame, dull sounding, pathetic looking farming simulator recieving a high score. If you say that and believe it than a true gamer you are not. There is no violence, no gore, no language , no nothing in this. So why is this so much fun? I will explain to the gore hounds out there.
The idea behind Harvest Moon is that you have inherited a farm from your Grandfather who has passed away, it is a wreck. The field is full of weeds, rocks, and sticks and trees, all needed to be removed in order to make a profit. The mayor gives you an ultimatum, although very nice, is very stern. YOu have tree years to bring the farm up to the way it once was or else you will kicked out of town. There are really only two ways to lose this game.
A) Completely neglect your farm.
B) Ignore the town folk.
In other words you have to bring the farm to prosperity, but also become friends with the locals.
The top part is simple enough, clear out a patch to start and plant some grass, trust me I will explain. You can gather roots and berries in the woods and that will supply some minor income. Use your tools often and do some mining, upgrade your tools so that you can completely clear ou the field.
As for become friendly with the locals, it translates to, marry one of the townsfolk Daughters. I ended up getting wed to Pouporri, the chicken farmer sister. You need to find out what they like, attend as many festivals as you can, and upgrade upgrade upgrade everything, especially your house (they won't marry you until your house is at it's full size 2 upgrades). YOu can tell how well they like you buy the heart during dialouge. If it's black they hate you, if it's red than they love you.
Once again this is a game that can get very addiciting. If given a chance I can guarentee many hours of enjoyment.
To be truthful though, the only reson I picked up this game is because I got bored of violent videogames, to include the Final Fantasies (Ah, Blasphemer). I am back to normal, but this game gave me a good gaming experience, that I shall never forget, it is worth picking up, for any true gamer.
