FF8 ROX

Final Fantasy VIII is the best RPG style game i've EVER played. I don't understand how anyone could even complain with this game. Several complaints have come up about the GF animation, but there is a major point to it too. During the GF animation most GFs can be 'boosted' up to a higher damage potential, anilating the enemy faster. The charachters in this game are so realistic (even though at least one of them will annoy you). My question is (and i haven't played enough to know the answer): What is up with Laguna?

One notch below FFV

This was one of the few FF games that kept me in awe. Not only did the graphics blow me away, but the sound was amazing. And just when the game was starting to slow down, a short cut scene would appear and awaken everything. This would have been my favorite FF game had I not played FFV before it.

Fantastic, Amazing, Intriguing, and Great!

This is a very good game and I'd recomend it to anyone, even if they don't like RPGs, this one will change their mind. True, some things do suck, like the music. The music is just sort of little tunes playing in the background. A lot of times you won't notice there's even music playing. Not all the music sucks, though, the Final Battle music was probably the best in the game. Sometimes the same song will be played over and over again, like the same song plays in both Winhill and FH, and thats the most annoying song. Anyway another thing that needs improvement is the characters. All the characters are exactly the same (except Zell). You can't really tell the difference between them, except their appearences. You won't learn hardly anything about the other characters, the story mostly concentrates on Squall and Rinoa. You never learn anything about the others except whats said in disc 2. Which sucks because after a while Squall and Rinoa get boring. Those are really the only 'bad' things about the game that I can tell. The game is really a lot of fun. It's my favorite Final Fantasy game. The towns are bigger, but there's fewer. Oh yeah! The card game, Triple Triad...that's the thing that will take up A LOT of your time. Which is ok, because it's so much fun. Some of the rules don't make any sense and you'll get really frustrated when you lose one of your favorite cards because of the damn random rule. The cards are all different and have pretty little pictures of whatever kind it is. Triple Triad is much more fun than that other card game in FF9, even though it's a little harder. Yes, the GF animations get really old by the third disc. Some of them are kinda fun to watch. I'm glad the stupid materia system and MP crap is not in this game. I don't care what everyone else says, drawing magic and then using it is much easier than using ethers...or whatever restores MP. The chocobos aren't as much fun, but look much better than the ones in FF7 or FF9. Damn, I haven't said anything about the graphics, all you need is one word...Amazing. Just by watching the opening movie you'll be amazed. The characters look more realistic, instead of the screwed up bodies. Wow! They actually have mouths and noses! The little cinemas that come in every now and then are absolutely beautiful. After you watch one, you'll want to be able to see it again. This is definatly a great game, but if you have a busy schedule, you probably shouldn't get it, you'll want to keep playing and forget what your supposed to be doing. The game is worth your money and your time.

Another nail-biting chronicle by Squaresoft

Final Fantasy VIII is the type of game that is going to make you argue with your parents quite a lot. Many were the times when I heard my Dad's voice calling from upstairs,"Tom, go to bed it's one o'clock!". The fantastic plot complemented by the amazing graphics make it a game for all ages. It's not one of those gory, bloody shoot-em-ups and it's not a boring adventure game. It's a mix of adventure and puzzling puzzles and magically gripping fights that keep you on the edge of your seat to see whether the spells that you cast will work the way you want them to or not. But what is best about it is the amazing plot. The sad moments and the happy ones, all portrayed with the excellent video graphics that keep you wondering if this is real life or made-up graphics. This game is truly a great one and I would have paid double the price to play this game for it's not one to miss.

Best FF Yet!

I've been a FF fan since the very first edition on Nintendo. FF8 is the culmination and preview of Final Fantasies to come. Not only does the story line move smoothly but the graphics are amazing. There is a nice balance between game play graphics and movie sequences which is especially evident in the ending. Unlike other Final Fantasies, the FF8 storyline is the focus which lends coherency to the quest at hand. I highly recommend this game to those of you who are FF fans and to those of you who have yet to experience this game. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Final Fantasy 8 is without a doubt the best in the series. The plotline is much deeper and more engaging than than any FF game so far. A little more development on the bad girls' character might have been nice, especially after Kefka and Sephiroth,, but there's something to be said for the unknown, shadowy evil force too. For me, personally, I experienced no problems with the translation from PS to PC, but hey, that's me. The sound is perfect (some of the best I've ever heard) the character graphics are great, and the FMV sequences are the BEST there have ever been. I loved all the characters, and how they developed in the game. I even liked the junction system and the weapon upgrades. The one big criticism I have is for the GF sequences. An option to skip past the animation would have been nice, especially after your tenth time watching Eden do (his/her?) thing. Other than that, the game is astounding!!

This game is awesome, can't wait for PC version!

This game was awesome on the Play Station, I'm a big fan of the series and I'm glad to see that it is coming out for all of those that do not have a Playstation. Not the best in the series but unbelievable graphics, good story, a ton of fun.

I really really cant see how anyone cant like this game, it simply rocks!!!Yeah ok so the conversion from the Playstaion to the P.C wassn't perfect and i accept that, but still the game remains almost flawless!!It has all the action, and most other stuff that ne games need to become a legend, and i can say that in my opinion this master piece has only been rivaled by Final Fantasy 7! Buy it now!!!

I unfortunately do not own a playstation. But I have become a new lover of RPG's especially Final Fantasy. My aaddiction started out with FF7. I look back now and realized how much FF7 sucked (on a PC platform). So I eagerly anticipated the release of the PC version of FF8. I was worried at first because FF7 conversion to the PC was so poorly done that I didn't want the same fate to befall FF8. Fortunately, Squaresoft took the time to totally redue 8 which was a good move. When I bought it I was so exhilirated. I popped it into my PC and began playing...the opening sequence is incredible to watch and the game starts out with an upbeat, especially with the war scene. The story was very intricated which is one of the many things I enjoy about the FF series. It contains a certain element that keeps you wanted to know more but don't totally understand whats happening at the same time. The draw system is a unique difference to past magic systems and I somewhat enjoyed it (although it contributed to its boredom b/c I would stock 100 cures and not find too much competition. When I reached Disc 2, I became bored...the story and action had spaced itself and was no longer frantic as it was in the first disc...I hve stopped playing and have actually started to plat FF3 loaned to me from a friend which is now my famvorite Final Fantasy currently. Word is out that FF9, FF10, and FF11 are due for the PS2 and FF12, FF13, FF14, and FF15 are due in the far future for believe it or not...the Playstation 3...
