I have heard a lot of things about this game, most of it violence worries. ... But if you are a fan of action, violence, strong language, mature themes, and most of all carjackings, I recommend this game as a great stress-reliever. Just don't go killing anyone... and besides that, let the shells fly gamers!

Great game, nothing better than cracking open a Coke while lobbing thousands of M16 rounds into cop vehicles. This game is fun when you start of but becomes boring when you must repeat missions 4-5 times. But levels aren't everything, huge 3-d levels to explore or destroy, because you can play areas eith no objectives, that's right, you make the rules. Still the violence is a little extreme, but this game kicks ...!

Its the BOMB!

This game is really good. There is almost every single style of gaming in here.#1:If u like games like Tekken, buy GTA3 and you have 3 islands full of pedestrians and gang members to start a fight with, not just with the body, but with weapons, too(some pedestrians run away) #2:if u like driving games like "need for speed", buy GTA3, and u have 3 islands full of cars you can steal.Do a taxi mission, you get another version of "Crazy Taxi", were you can kill the rider anytime during the ride #3:if u like shooting/sniper games, u can play hidden rampages, witch make it more fun,and shoot pedestrians on the street.#4:if u are a lazy gamer, you don't have to do missions, just go around kill people. #5: if like buisness type games, u can have any "proffesion" you wantlike paramedic, firefighter, police officer, taxi driver by steling a taxi cab, ambulance ect. and doing the mission for it.So u see, this game has fighting,driving,shooting/sniper,buissness type stuff and more.

It took awhile but now I'm really into it

I didn't like the way this game played the first couple of days that I had it, my wife started to really get into it before I did. Once I started to figure out the control set up and the general watch out for yourself attitude it became the game to play on my computer!

I suggest you have some fun, and learn the street lay-out by stealing different kinds of vehicles and doing some of the side missions. Paramedic (ambulance), vigilante (police car), fire (fire truck) and taxi (cab).

Also, make sure the kids are in bed or well out of the room. You don't want to explain to them why you have to yank a little old lady out of her station wagon so you can use her car to "whack" a bunch of triad gang-members.

Grand Theft Auto III is a third person shooter with lots of drivable vehicles. Set in Liberty city you play a crimnal who works as thug for the local mafia. The single player gameplay is orginal and outstanding, you are allowed to drive almost every vehicle in the game, go anywhere and do anything. It has no multiplayer. I played the game in the Direct3D video mode and it runs great. The graphics are great and the design of the city is excellent, you feel like you are driving through a real city. The only bad thing in the game is that some of the missions are very hard. Gta3 is one of the best games ever made and it is a not to be missed game.

Unbelievable

This game has unbelievable graphics and outstanding gameplay! The possibilities in this game are endless, from jacking cars to just plain old killing people. There's no other game better or even close!

Why Oh Why?

Well I bought this game quite a while ago. So I installed it everything went fine and then Blamo! The game played rather poorly lagging up almost always . So I tinkered around with the graphic options and now it plays so-so. At times it still lags up for some unknown reason. It's not my computer because I'm above the recommended requirements in every category. I've played the game on the PS2 and personally I think that for playability the PS2 version is much better. The game itself is fine, but the fact that you have to deal with lag sours the deal. I've seen these problems occur on quite a few computers and no one really knows why it happens. I've contacted the tech support a few times about this, but they always give me the same answers and then stop responding to my emails. I've also seen this game play really well on a few systems too. So I guess it's a coin toss.

i like it

I played for several hours hoping to get hooked but I just was never able to. You get a mission, you drive around performing it, and then you get paid. You can freelance but that is even more boring. Running from the cops if fun the first few times but gets kind of old after a while.

The scenery and free-flowing format is neat, but if all I want to do is drive around I can fill up my gas tank on the car three times for what the game costs and just go drive.
