One of the best PS2 games made as of 04/04/02

GTA3 is one of the best PS2 games made as of 04/04/02. You get to drive around, steal cars, kill people, make money, or pretty much whatever you want to do. There are many missions to keep you busy, or you can terrorize the town by tearing through the streets runing over people and doing drive-bys. Sometime I just like to drive like I do in real life. Stoping for stoplights whent they are red, going a decent speed, etc. The other divers on the road are designed well enough to allow you to do this, unlike in Midnight Club. Go jump in a taxi cab and play crazy taxi by pressing L3 on your controller, then picking up people and transfering them. There is so much to do, you'll never get sick of it. The main thing I'd want change is the amount of car types. I think there could of been more, and maybe some more pased on real cars. But all in all, this is a superb game. It's a cheaper vertual reality because there are almost no limitations to want you can do.

Best game yet!

I just recently bought this game and the graphics on my machine are incredible!! I maxed out all the graphics including the res at 1280X1024X32 and the game still runs sooth as heck!! So far I've lost almost a days sleep on this game. One problem that I did have though is when I first installed it, it was impossible to tell what the menus were since none of the letters if your running an earlier version of windows XP you will have to download this patch at Microsoft's website (windows XP patch-direct3D based...). Once I installed that it worked great! I did notice however that a lot of people seemed to have problems with this game even on average machines so make sure you have the latest factory drivers as well...

GTA III is strangely compelling. Although it works neither as an FPS (unimpressive arsenal of weapons, lacks "Max Payne" gritty realism, inability to enter most buildings and bad camera angles) or a driving sim (no real cars, elementary physics model), its non-linear approach is insanely compelling. Prepare to spend hours just driving around Liberty City and exploring the environment...

NO MULTI?????

What is up with this? Deciding to cancel the multiplayer option? Jesus christ it would've leveled gaming today if there was. Well if your better at console then PC, get GTA3 for ps2.

My friends with PlayStations say it is much better on their systems, but I have really enjoyed this game.

I recommend to all car racing and Unreal/Quake fans.

This game is awesome. You have the freedom to do almost anything you want. The fun can never end, because once you have beaten all the missions, you can still set new "goals" for yourself. For example: How high can you get your wanted level using just a shotgun? Or how many people can you pick off with a sniper rifle in under a minute? These can provide hours of entertainment for you and your friends. Also, there are other hidden missions throughout the game as hidden packages and getting cars to certain garages. the freedom of this game is truly amazing, and it provides excellent (yet violent) entertainment.

*NOTE* This review was written after playing the game on Playstaion 2, but I expect the game on PC to be equally if not more entertaining

Although this game is not allowed in my house because it is so bad, i still have it anyway because i downloaded it. This game has it all, cars, guns, good storyline, cool missions. Most 9of the time for what i do is i dont really do the missions. you can just ride around in cars and do lots of fun like-go off insane jumps, kill people, get into fights, and get into police chases, and more. i would highly recommend this game to anyone who is allowed to have it or just sneak it in- like me.My name is not really bonfruitus yeltson. I am not russian.

Unsatisfying

When I first started playing this game, I really liked it. The graphics were decent and the idea behind the game was good. After playing for two weeks, I became very bored and rather than play the missions, I gathered a large collection of weapons and laid the smack down on the city and city officials. Now, other than just a stress reliever, this game is dead to me. I don't recommend spending your money on this one. Wait a couple of weeks until your friends get bored with it and then borrow theirs.

If Only You Could Save

This is pretty mindless entertainment if you're looking to drive around like a maniac or occasionally stop and smack around a few people. The major drawback is that you can't save a game while "in-mission," meaning it's back to square one of said mission if something goes awry, which often means hour upon hour of repeated sequences. I'm already getting tired of the game and I've only been playing now for about a month. Had there been a better save function, I would be tempted to move forward and see what happens, but playing the same scene over and over grows old fast.

back to the drawing board for this one!

I thought this was going to be a cool game, I mean the idea behind it all sounds good, but the minute I poped it into my brand new 1.2 gig computer with GeForce 128bit graphics card, I then realized I have been had! This game ran so bad I cant understand why it is even being sold. I mean if you are going to sell a game, make sure it works. I have a pretty superior system to run it on, and it did not work. I can imagine how it runs on older computers. I recommend getting Half-life its a little dated now, but it will run like a gem. HitMan Codename 47 is pretty cool, great shooter. For racing get Need For Speed, I would pass this one up. I think Rockstar games better get back to the drawing board and fix this one. I know never to buy any games made by Rockstar ever again.
