most fun you'll ever have with a game

Ok.. i won't talk about the game..
i'll talk about the problems that many people are having with it. It turns out that most people are having issues with extremely choppy gameplay.. the sound and video stutters almost constantly.

I've got the resolution pushed down to the bare minimum, and it's playable.. but it looks bad, and it still could be smoother.

I trust Rockstar Games will release a patch very soon, because the online forums are literally flooded with people having this same problem.

I can wait.. and it's still fun, regardless of how the graphics look pushed down so much.

So, my advice.. buy it before it's banned, and be patient for the patch.

Just what the disgruntled adult worker needs.

Here we go. A game most adults can actually enjoy. Do keep the game away from kids, but this game is serious fun. The disclamer on the box says that it's only a comic representation of gangster activity (loosely taken) and it's very very comic indeed. It's not cartoonish though. It could be used as an outlet to get any of those bad feelings out.
Oh yeah, Windows XP users. Download the new DirectX patch. Read the readme in the game and it'll tell you what you need if you have problems getting the text to work.

Awesome game on PS2, even better on PC

By now you no doubt know what the GTA series is about, so I'll spare you the intro. I own both PS2 and PC versions of this game, and this is where this computer version stands:

--Much better graphics. If you've got the horsepower to run this at 1024x768 or better with all details, this game is incredible. Makes going back to the PS2 really tough!
--Mouse aiming makes shooting more intuitive than the PS2's ... targeting system.
--Make your own skin: basically, design your character's clothes!
--Tons of extra files on the web which customize this game any way you want it.
--Very little waiting, loading times are incredible.
--Import and play your own MP3's!

The only downside I can think of is that if you want to use mouse aiming (trust me, you will), it means juggling a gamepad as well, since driving with the keyboard is not intuitive. Great game, and playing it on the PC after beating it on the PS2 is like playing a whole new game. Man, those graphics are good!

Interesting idea

To start out, this is a dark minded game...it gives you idea the basic idea of what LA downtown looks like, there's hookers, gangs, etc. There IS swearing and LOTS of violence... for instance when you run someone over it makes a sound like a bug being sqished and when you kill someone with a shotgun arms and legs fly in ever different direction (which is totally gross to me,being a girl) If you want to get this game in a lighter frame of mind i sujest you get Mafia. I know everyone thinks this game is alot worse then Medal Of Honor or Half Life but it really isn't. Its basically the same concept, shoot the gun at the bad guys and you win.

The best game for the PC

This is the best game. I have iton good authority that this version is to be superior to the PS2 version in every way. It is violent and crude, but that is the way the character is. By the way, you can fly the plane and the helicopter. If you can't wait for this, hang on HALO is coming to PC as well.

PS2 has nothing on the PC Version

Got the pc version today and it kicks .... Better then the PS2 version because:
1: Uploas MP3's and listen to your own music.
2: Better Graphics
3: LOTS of MODS
4: Create your own character.

There you have it.

I personally didn't care for GTA3. Pre-release hype had led me to believe that it was a create-your-own-solution type game in the same vein as Deus Ex. Boy is that off the mark. I can only think of a handful of missions that really had multiple approaches, the rest fell into the fedex and get to point B as fast as possible category. I really wanted to like the game but the missions just didn't offer a whole lot. Granted there is the whole free form side of the game but at least for me, driving around and shooting stuff got old real fast. While the game definatly tried things that most games don't go into GTA3 is not particularly revolutionary or ahead of its time. Me, I'm back to Mafia.

By far the best game Playstation has ever made!!

GTA 3 is an awsome gangster game. You can work for some high ranking Mafia men and other unheard of gangs. You can do whatever from beating the hell out of people in hand to hand combat up to blowing up cars with bazooka's and busting out with some crazy sniper action. You can drive a varity of cars from old foggie mini vans to sick...sports cars. Follow the rules and stop at ever stoplight and wait for people to cross the street or break the speed limit while out running the cops and killing everone in your path with your car or a uzi drive-by. And it goes much further than cops. Cause enough trouble and you'll end up with the FBI or the military on you carrying full automatic rifles. Helicopter's with spotlights chase you and huge tank's can make your car into a speeding fireball. WARNING: NOT FOR CHILDERN! EXSPECIALLY 6 YEAR OLDS WHO PLAY BERT AND ERNIE GAMES!

you want to know how this game really rates?

This is the worst game I've ever played so far. I was lead to believe this game was good because gamespot gave it 9.3/10 and my friend said it was good. It's all lies. I went and played the game and I got sick of it (literally) after playing a quarter of the game. Don't know why, maybe it was the atmosphere of the game that made me want to throw up. Anyway, the parts where you could drive a car, truck, etc was funny at first because you can do all sorts of crazy flips and run into people and crash into streetlights but it got frustrating after a while once I started playing the missions especially when driving recklessly was detrimental to finishing the mission. Hard to control the car using keyboard. I mean, if you are going to put driving into the game, make it like the racing games. Also, the missions just got so mundane. What a waste. You can't save during the mission which is a big drawback. You can only save when you're done the mission. I mean, if I'm done the mission, then I don't really need to save, do I? unless I need to go to the washroom. If you fail the mission, you have to start from the very beginning. How stupid is that. Some missions, I had to try over 10 times until finally I used a cheat code and finish the mission. And some missions, even using a cheat code didn't help so that's when I quit the game. How some people finish the game, who knows? Oooooo, good for you, oooo you get a trophy made out of cardboard....It was hard to control the main character too with the default keyboard settings. It doesn't even move like a first person shooter. I had to press the down arrow key to move forward depending on your orientation!! When you play it, you will know what I mean. It's frustrating (I actually want to swear here). Oh yeah, the main character you play in the game doesn't even talk at all! He's a gangsta mute!! Maybe he talks at the end of the game but I'm not going to find out. One and only one good aspect of the game is the fact that it loads quick (less than a minute) and the city graphic detail is pretty good but I've seen better graphics in other games. I gotta admit, there are a lot of missions to go through (they say 75?) so you may get your money's worth but man, those missions are boring. Unless you can finish all these missions on your first attempt without cheating and I know there is no gamer out there who's skilled enough to do it, you will spend months playing this game. Tell me this, is picking up as many xxx mags left on the streets in under 25 seconds and then killing the guy who dropped them supposed to be a good idea for a mission?? or stealing an ice cream truck and setting a bomb to it so it can explode in front of a gansta supposed to be a fun and exciting mission?? I rather play soldier of fortune because at least I get to blow the guy's head off with a shotgun. I do not recommend gta3 at all and if you think this game is good, then you have some serious problems. But if you still want to buy this game, who's going to stop you from using your credit card, eh?

totally violent

This game is way to violent. Why would it be so much fun to hurt someone. they say it's not for kids but I see many kids playing these games. Why do you think there's so much violence and other things like that in this world. It's partly because of these kinds of vidio games
