Buffy for Xbox

I'm a big fan of the Buffy TV show, so when I heard that a videogame based on the show was coming out, I had to get it. For the most part Buffy is a great action videogame. The combat and fighting portions of the game are clearly it's best strength. The cmobat engine is fun and unique and it's just a joy to beat down vampires and zombies with cool punch kick combos as well as a number of different weapons like stakes, shovels, and poles. The story of the game is alright, not great or anything, but decent for a videogame. It's not like you have to have seen Buffy before to understand the story either. The graphics and sound in the game are very good, particularly in the main characters models, you'll be amazed at how closely Buffy resembles Sarah Michelle Gellar and Willow, Alyson Hannigan. The developers really did a good job with the graphics. The sound is also very good, all the cast members of Buffy, except for SMG herself, do the voice work for the characters in the game, so that should be a treat for Buffy fans. So overall I'd recomend Buffy to anyone who enjoys a good action game with lots of combat and a decent challenge to it.

Buffy is such a fun game. Staking the Vampires is great, and it can even be scary when zombies and skeletons pop out when you least expect it.

BTVS stays true to the show.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is by far the best game out on XBox. Even though it has some flaws, it stays truthful to the characters. This game was worth the wait, and i can't imagine what they could have done to make it better. I hope they come out with a second Buffy game on XBOX. The only thing i recomend is that parents should be aware that the game as some bad language, not a lot, and not repetitave, and that it has some sexual referances. If there were more stars availabe to give to this game, i'd give it the maximum stars.

BUFFY IS THE BEST XBOX GAME I EVER PLAYED!

First let me begin by saying that i am not a buffy fan but a fan of graphic horror genre games so i decided to take a chance with Buffy, due to the screenshots and video clips i had seen of this game. From the start of the game i knew it looked great and had potential. As i continued to play, i just fell in love with this game. The puzzles arent overly confusing and the gameplay is outstanding. The checkpoints on which the game leaves off when you finish a level arent overly spaced out therefore you can continue the game rather quickly. I cant imagine what a Buffy fan would do for this game because its a must if you are. I enjoyed this game so much im going back to play it again..lol....This could possibly be the sleeper "best game of the year" in my opinion.....Up The Irons

Go Buffy!!!

I , like many others have waited very, very impatiently for the release of the "Buffy" XBOX game. After all the delays I wondered if they would release it all....But good things come to those that wait- make that GREAT things. The game ROCKS! and Is my favorite XBOX game, along with Morrowind. This game just rules. The graphics are amazing, the characters rock as well. The likeness is scary- at first I thought they could have worked on Buffy herself better- for more of a Sarah Michelle Gellar likeness, I would stand her against a wall so I could zoom in and look at her face- but in normal play mode- the likeness to Sarah is awesome. Giles, Angel, Cordelia, Xander, Spike and Willow are all here and all look great- Willow could have used a bit more character likeness. Aside from that the story line pulls you in.....the fighting is great. Personally the fight moves, body movements of the characters- how quickly Buffy and Enemies react, get up, swing, kick is all soooo realistic to me.

When I got my hands on this game I thought it would have been great if you could just have a face off fighting type game with your favorite characters. Then.... last week.... BAM!! The cheat code was released for 4 seperate fighting arena's where you are Buffy dropped into 4 different arenas and you get to fight all the badies you encountered in the game- sometimes one on one, sometimes three against one. And the best is your best friend or buddy can play too in the arena mode and you can face off. The camera angle is the only bad thing. Who ever is Buffy controls the camera- which means your character- Vampire, monster, demon, Spike, Angel, The Master or even the "dark evil Buffy" could get stuck somewhere else. The only other complaint I have about the arena is- basically Buffy can obtain life and slayer power by defeating you- you as the opponenet can not compensate for the life lost to you in battle and you die. And the only other thing was I SO wished you could have had a choice to play the arena modes as Giles, Xander, Willow, Cordelia, Spike, Angel or The Master. It would have been sooo incredibly awesome to say... be Willow and use different magics to fight who ever was dropped into the arena, or Xander who could use the Hellfire/Holy Water Guns for weapons with some fighting moves, or Cordelia who could use the many bats, stakes, rakes, brooms etcc that are in the game to use for weapons. HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT HAVE BEEN. Or to be Buffy and fight Willow, or Giles..etc... you get the point... or if you played with someone else- you could both pick and choose who your character could be. Unless there is a cheat code for character choice but I dont think so.

Either way the games rules. Lets hope they release another game-How incredible would it be to play "Buffy" part 2 on your XBOX and fight with Faith?? Or a new arena Buffy VS Faith, or Adam, or Glory!!!! That to me would make an awesome game in itself- "Buffy Arena" where it is multiplayer and you can choose who you want to be- we have to have FAITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the game- I know I did- I just finished it!!!!!!!!

Fighting game combined with platform/adventure.

The fighting system was actually somewhat similiar to Virtual Fighter or DOA, which is amazing, considering this is an adventure game. Most adventure games games have one button for attack with simplistic and repetitive combos. The combos in this game feels almost like a 3-D fighting game, though not as developed as Virtual Fighter (this isn't a fighting game after all), it is actually better than some fighting games I played.

Awesome. The storyline is somewhat linear, then again, so is many adventures or RPG games, such as Final Fantasy series and Tomb Raider. That doesn't stop it from been a great game.

Although, one regret is that I had hoped they would give us harder puzzles. The puzzles are too easy. They chose to focus on the action aspects.

I don't get the high marks.

I know the show deserves its wild popularity. I'm a big fan. But, this game is dreadful. The graphics and fighting are based on old technology. I figure that the engine isn't even as sophisticated as the original Tomb Raider (how many years ago was that?) And, the game has absolutely no challenge. There is only one path to follow, so the whole thing amounts to walking down a straight line, pounding on some baddies and listening to the two or three quips "Buffy" has in her arsenal. The cut scenes where we see the other characters are incredibly droll because, again, the conversation is entirely linear. You go to any character, press the button, watch a dialogue. Repeat. There's no variance depending on the order you speak to the characters nor any options on what you say to them.

In short... BORING.

Wonderful Game....

I have always been a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so of course I am going to buy this game. But you just don't have to buy it because you like the show, oh no. This game features relistic moves captured from Sarah Michelle Gellar's stunt double, so the moves will be as real as ever. This game is also powered by The Collective's newest game engine: The Slayer engine, which pushes the XBOX's graphics to the limits. This is a really fun and intriguing puzzle/adventure game which will let you figure things out while kicking a little vampire butt! This game is definately worth a look, even if you aren't into BtVS.

No instant save ruins this game!

I'm not a fan of the show, but I found that the graphics and storyline were terrific and often funny. However, I absolutely hated the fact that I couldn't save during crucial parts of the game (such as after slaying one of the tougher creatures). Instead the annoying checkpoints are used at designated points (which are often VERY far apart). I became so frustrated having to go back and replay from a previous checkpoint 10 minutes of play back in the game that the game lost its fun and became a burden. I'm glad I rented this game because I will not buy it.
