Buffy the Vampire Slayer gets " Slaying " reviews

This is one of the best games that XBOX has put out to the public. I finished this game during the Christmas holiday week of 2002. The characters Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Buffy, Angel, Spike, and Giles are the same voices and people from the show. The scenes and story was very good. The game was very well thought out by Joss Whedon
( you're the best! ). 20th Century Fox, Electronic Arts, and The Collective did a very good job of producing it and sending out to the public. I'm very excited about the second game coming out which is called " Buffy 2: Chaos Bleeds " . From what I am hearing, it is supposed to be a lost episode from Season 5, and you don't get to just play Buffy, you get to play Faith, Xander, Willow, and ( surprise ), Sid the Dummy from Season 1 from the episode " The Puppet Show ". I think the second game is just going to be as '" super slaying " as the first one. The release date for the Buffy 2 game is August 29. The Buffy saga is the BEST!!!

It's easy enough for a 9 year old, but I don't know stabbing a person is though. It's so easy it's boring. I bought it for my girlfriend so she can something to play on the XBOX. Put it this way she couldn't throw the ball in NFL 2K3. The graphics are basic even on HDTV. The audio is confusing in 5.1 Dolby Digital. You can determine if people are around you or even there with digital sound. A young fan of the show it's a buy, but not for a high school student. I don't my XBOX daily maybe 3 times a week in not that, so don't take me as a proficinal IN GAME PLAY.

This is an awesome game with a great storyline to go along with it. If you are a Buffy fan and have read some of the Buffy books, you'll recognize the name Christopher Golden. He writes the best Buffy novels that are out there and he also is the writer for the storyline of this game.

The graphics are fantastic in this game. Someone in an earlier review complained about it being blurry but I didn't find it to be that way at all. I found it very clear and wonderfully done. Someone else complained it was too dark. You can easily adjust the lightness level if you go to "Options" and then display. When I played the game during the day in my sun lit living room, I had to adjust the display in order to compensate for the sun glare and when playing at night I put it back to where it was. No problem!!

The game itself is a blast. It's great being able to be Buffy and stake vampires and see them go "poof"!! It has very challenging levels that are all unique and nicely done. My husband, my two teenage daughters and myself were very obsessed with this game and were all fighting over who got to play next!!

All the characters are very well done and even though the voice of Buffy isn't done by SMG you quickly overlook that and really feel the character is Buffy! Spike was done the best in my opinion!!

BUFFY, IS NOT ON THE MENU! But try the XBOX.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

You can see why Electronic Arts has turned the cult TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer into a game - the show is a confection of implausible plot-lines, undead creatures and superhuman martial arts.

The result is a third person action-adventure game, hugely influenced by the Tomb Raider series. The gameplay consists of beat-'em-up vampire-kicking action, interspersed with the odd puzzle-solving sequence. What makes it a must for Xbox owners is its sheer authenticity: virtual Buffy really does look like Sarah Michelle Gellar, and spouts the same lame Valley Girl one-liners. The control system also shines - it manages to avoid Tomb Raider's fiddliness, yet as you progress through the game, you accumulate a huge amounts of satisfying special moves.

Mind you, the basic ability to drive stakes, mops and broom handles through the hearts of vampires is surprisingly cathartic in itself.

Decent graphics, seamless construction of levels in which the plot unfolds plausibly and cameo appearances from Buffy's partners in undead-bashing add up to a game in which you really do feel in control of Buffy - a popular fantasy among TV-watchers, one suspects.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer has no glaring flaws and is a must for Xbox owners in general, let alone fans of the TV series. One of the best Xbox games!

Not as good as the critics let on

As a player of video games, but a lover of Buffy, I was sadly disappointed when I frist played the game; and still am.

As far as graphics go: 2 of 5 stars. Any game where your enemies can lose their heads in stationary scenery of the game falls short on the "we took time to design this game's graphics" factor.

Plot: 4. Very good, in my opinion, but how Giles was able to get by some places without getting the living bejesus beaten out of him is beyond me.

Believability: See the above two points. Also, hearing Buffy and the rest of the team say the same things... over... and over... and over again got to be monotonous.

TERRIBLE

Buffy, The Vampire Slayer makes for the perfect surprise for anyone interested in nonstop action with a twist rather than just socking people in those fighter games. One of my avorite parts of this game is that the story never stops building, and the more you advance, the tougher things get (for instance, the wimpy vamp you fight in the first high school level won't seem so wimpy until you face the big uber-vamps in the foundry level. Plus all your favorite actors are there, like Xander, Willow, Giles, Cordy, Spike and Angel. But Buffy's voice is actually a fill-in (You'll tell when she says "Angel"). The most primitave way of killing anything in the game is to pitch a stake, but hey who wants to do that 24/7? That's why the game is loaded with surprises. My absolute favorite is kicking a vampire... and suddenly, he goes flying through the air. The crunch and the dusting that follows lets you know you've accidentaly chucked him onto an enviornmental stake (objects in your surroundings that you can impale things on). Plus there are many weapons. Rakes, shovels, mops, pool cues and my favorite, the reaper blade/wing that can be thrown for demon amputation. And if that isn't fancy enough, try chucking them into molten steel or in front of an on-coming train (now we're talkin!). Plus there are bosses, such as snake thingies, tiger freaks, The Master, Spike, and some sort of dead-raiser dude.Oh, can't forget Buffy's Hell-dimension counterpart! And BELIEVE me, that's not all that awaits. So what do ya say? Oh, just give it a try, just a try, for goodness sake. You won't regret it!

Buffy disappointment

There is a reason why the price has dropped on this game. It has nice graphics and sound, but moves from being extremely simple to ridiculously difficult. The voice-overs become annoyingly redundant and much of the action occurs in the dark (though reasonably this is where vampires live). The difficulty level increases only because there are no interim saves, and you are forced through mind-numbing repetition. Silly timing jumps negate what otherwise would be a cute juvenile adventure package, and seem much more likely for a Mario Brothers package.

I would not recommend this game. You might want to consider Halo, Enclave, or even BloodRayne.
