Well. I broke down and got a PSP. I had to decide on a game, and i wanted it to be one i wouldn't get sick of in a week and i think i found it!

Lumines is addicting and so much fun to play. I like how the music and graphics get cooler the better you do..

How simple can a game be, and yet how addicting. I havent even played multiplayer yet, and already believe this is the best game of it's kind since Tetris, and may actually be slightly better than the behemoth that is Tetris as it has an added level of complication Tetris doesn't have.

I wont go into explaining the gameplay as half of the fun is figuring it out yourself, but like Tetris it only takes a few minutes to really get into it, but takes hours and hours to get really good at it.

Beautiful sound, graphics, and easily the best PSP game to pick up to waste 10 minutes or 3 hours on. I've played this, Ridge Racer and Wipeout Pure on PSP and this is the one that eats the most time. It has single player, vs the computer and a puzzle mode that will keep you scratching your head. KUDOS.

Tetris quite frankly bores me. It dominated a large sum of my time and now I dread its remade counterparts. Why do I enjoy Lumines? It breaks out of the norm so many block puzzle-games take. A new perspective and enjoyable mix-up of gameplay makes it a favorite for the PSP, although I would not go as far as calling the game revolutionary or mind-blowing.

If you've played "Rez" or any other games set to music and beats you already know how these games strike an incredibly fun chord, and why they are must buys. But if not the I'll let you in on the twist, with each stage clear new eye-candy appears in the background and a tune begins. With the beat of the song a timer swipes across the screen stack as many of the square style blocks before the time between beats is over and rack up combos. Then watch to your amusement as your towers fall causing chain-reactions multiplying in more blocks made, and a higher score.

I admit to playing the game in a trance-like state watching the blocks flow and hearing the music blend to find myself going on half an hour of play without noticing. Unlocking new songs, and backgrounds give just enough initiative to keep playing you up into the night.

Overall Lumines is fun but not my pick over a console game with more of a story. It's perfect for a portable platform and a great game for the PSP.

Lumines is a must-have for everyone who has a PSP. As you play and advance (vs. computer, single mode, puzzle mode, etc.), you unlock new characters, songs, and backgrounds. This game is like Tetris, but with much more strategy and music.

For every 2x2 square that you delete, you get points. There are many things to be aware of when playing Lumines. You must beat the timeline that continually goes across the screen to clear your completed 2x2 square. There are time bombs deletes all blocks linked through color. For every 4 levels, you get a change of background/music.

Not a fan of Tetris/Block building puzzle games? Still give this a try. There are many people I know who don't enjoy Tetris-like games but found Lumines to be surprisingly addicting.

Addiction to the music...and the game!

Lumines is a game that you MUST play with the audio on. More than even WipEoutPure, the audio is an integral part of the game and is a tale of why the PSP is perfect for it. It should really be THE pack-in game for the PSP (if there were one). The only thing I think it's missing is the level of extras and unlockables that WipEout gives us.

This game is so addicting! Once you start you can't stop. I couldn't put it down for hours. My friends fight over who gets to play the game. Honestly though it's challenging and fun with some great beats. The first level gets on my nerves because if you don't make a square quick enough it repeats the lyrics or part of the song over and over until you do. Puzzle mode is pretty hard, I'm still stuck on the 4x4. Other than that great game!! One of the best puzzle games!!

The only puzzle game that's up there with Tetris

After Tetris first came out, there have been many puzzle games that have been on the market. Lumines is a rare one that can be just as addictive, fun, and challenging as Tetris. Yet it is still unique enough to be exciting. If you like puzzle games, you will probably love Lumines. It is a bit hard to grasp in the beginning but after you've played a few times, you begin to absorb it and really enjoy it.

Also, each level of Lumines has different graphic elements and the music constantly changes with each level as well. Another cool feature is that you can create your own profile so that you can save your high scores and unlock stuff. The game allows multiple profiles so your friends and family can each have their own saved progress and you can see who has the current highest score out of everyone. Groovy BABy... Yeah!

If you liked Tetris you'll like Lumines. Its been updated with good dance tracks, good videos, flawless game play and performance. Like any falling block game it can be a bit redundant - but mostly its just addictive and a far sight more stimulating than titles where significantly less time and attention to detail was spent during development.

Tetris for the club crowd

Lumines is a great game for those looking for a game similar to Tetris. Ever since the original Gameboy came with that classic game, it seems that each new portable system needs to have that Tetris-esque title in their library. Well, Lumines is that game. Once you get used to the idea of creating squares, not rows or columns of three, for points and combos, you'll get the hang of it in no time. The in game menus and graphics are well done for a puzzle game. Loading times are minimal, which is a good thing for any game on the PSP. However, the background music is the co-star of the game as it augments the gameplay. The faster or slower you create combos, the faster or slower the music goes. The range of music ranges from disco and electronica to jazz and trip hop. There are some pretty good songs that make you bop your head to the beat. Also, when you clear a stage, you get a new skin and character for your collection. If you've got a friend with a PSP, the multiplayer option is pretty good. Lumines is defintely recommended for those who want a good pick up and play type of game for their PSP.

Lumines the new tetris

This game is a must have for PSP. It's like tetris only in that boxes fall down. However it requires you to be much faster and use more strategy. Several different modes of play keeps you coming back for more. My only gripes about this game is that it does not have infrastructure multiplayer and the first few songs in challenge mode get boring.

Even my mom likes this game.
