Hack and Slash at its best, with a taste of RPG.

This game is a festival of blood, guts, slashing, hotgirls, more blood, and excellent graphics, one that shoul be viewed by all that enjoy a good action game. The gameplay is simple, making you have full control of the character, and did I mention that the characters are really well thought out. The characters are distinctive and all have their own taste, for example, I especially enjoy the Defender, she is a sport and... well... a real zombie killer to say the least. This is an excellent buy, one that is worth your money, and lastly, it will keep you playing for over 20 hours.

GREAT hack n slash

This is one of the best games I've played for the xbox so far. If you like to run around and shoot, slash and melt zombies you'll love this. Graphics are great and the audio is great. I like the controls and they are super easy to become accustomed to. It's great fun with multi-player. It's hard but not to hard when you figure out (which you do quickly) how the bad guys respond - there's just allot of them.

On a side note: to all those that think they need to compare everything to HALO: Every game is not HALO, this is a completely different and is loads of fun on it's own. The old adage apples and oranges comes to mind.

If you want to see a handsome game and kick some zombie/vampire/monster [rear] you'll have lots of fun with this one.

Good Times......

I just got this game the other day and let me tell ya, it's pretty sweet. Its not as cool as Max Payne though, but its right up there. The best part about it is being able to play with your friends at the same time. The graphics and game play are great and from what I can tell, you will have a wide range of wepons to choose from the farther you get in the game. The movement of the characters is very easy to get use to, you use the same buttons as in Max Payne. I Cant really tell you much more about it, I have only played for a little bit, but when my buddies and I dont have anything else better to do, we will definitally be able to sit down and play it for awhile with out getting bored. Highly recommended.

Not Bad, Not Bad At All...

This was the first game that I have rented in a long time that was not extremely disappointing. I loved it, granted it's no HALO but I was more than ready to move from that game but unfortunately there were no other good games to move on to. Well there is now. Some people complain about the graphics but, I think they're pretty darn good. The reflections and animations are nothing to sneeze at. Neither is the solid framerate. The only thing about this game that I didn't like was on multiplayer, you dont have the freedom of movement that you have on single-player. This is a problem more or less inherent in this particular genre, unfortunately.

For fans of WOD and Gauntlet alike!

My XBox is used to rent games. I have yet to buy any. I have a decent sized collection of PS 2 and GameCube games. The XBox has been a dust collector for a while.
This weekend I decided to do some renting to see if there is anything of value for the system yet, and thankfully there is. I know I could get blasted by Halo fans for not acknowledging it as the "best game ever" but Eternal Darkness has my vote for that, and Halo is a first person shooter that will be out done by Metroid Prime shortly. Usually I don't like First Person Shooters anyway. After many months Hunter: The Reckoning has made my purchase worthwhile. It's not a lot on story, but the pen and paper RPG can be like this as well. Unlike its sister World of Darkness games Vampire, and Mage, Hunter features a lot more of the "Hack and slash" gore fest than other World of Darkness games. The Pen and paper version still has a lot of room for character development and depth, something that the video game does not. What that game does offer is breathtaking visuals that are almost, but not quite, as good as GameCube's Resident Evil, fast paced Gauntlet like action, and a multiplayer game that beast out Gauntlet on many levels. Although it could be argued that the game more resembles Gauntlet than the pen and paper game that it is based on, but this is not a bad thing. A modern day Gauntlet is a beautiful thing, both graphically and game play wise. My only complaint is that the boss battles are too difficult to handle with just one or two players. It's only when you have all four that the bosses are doable, and even then they're difficult.
Hunter is a sigh of relief for me. This one game has given me hope for this otherwise disappointing console. Perhaps XBox will have other World of Darkness based games that will be more story focused. Its not that the story is bad, just thin. It's still a great game though. It's worth it to get an XBox for Hunter alone.

Falls short

Its too bad. I was actually pretty excited about this game initially. Why not? It has a pretty intriguing story, admirable spooky, misty graphics, and a variety of cool playable characters. So why is this game such a dissapointment?
There is no stategy or gamemanship required, whatsoever! To make it through the entire game (which I did) requires nothing more than constant movement of your character and a quick (and strong) trigger finger. This is more of an arcade-style game of the "Space Invaders" genre. Hordes of bad dudes constantly chase your character and you shoot them until your finger falls off. Its fun for the first hour or two and thats it.

If you like borring, pointless, shooting games this is great

I got borred of this game before I got done with the first level. All you do is shoot continuesly attacking monsters that get harder and harder to drop as you go on. The bosses are rediculously hard and the story line could have been thought up by a two year old ape. The graphics are alright and the gore is cool but thats about the extent of this games qualities. Rent the game don't waste your money!

Check this one out!!

Love this game!!
The graphics are awesome, kinda like an upgraded gauntlet on xbox. The blood, character detail, flame effects, and environment effects are all awesome, from the detail on the enemies' faces, all the way down to the floating trash that slides across the street.
The sound is good. Sound effects are cool, and the music is also dark and moody, and picks up at times when you get into a fight with lots of enemies. I wish the music played at all points of the game, but the silence lets some of the spooky sound effects come into the forefront.
The gameplay is fairly straightforward, and easy to pick up. For the experienced player, there are hidden moves that you can only use after practice and experimentation. Each of the 4 characters has their own style and combo moves, which contributes to the overall replay of the game.
When you beat the game, there are secret versions of each character, and a nightmare version of the game which ups the difficulty level.
The highlight of the game is the multiplayer, where you can blaze through all the blood and gore of the game with a couple friends. Definitely a solid multiplayer gaming experience, as well a challenging single-player game with lots of replay. Pick it up!!

Fun, but why "M"?

This is a very fun game. The graphics and gameplay are tremendous and this is one of the best action games on X box (next to Halo). I don't understand how it's rated "M". A little bit of unrealistic red powder spills when you kill an enemy. It doesn't even stay on the ground in a pool of blood. This is defenetly a great action game for anyone.

Horrible multi-player experience

I thought that this game would be a great coorperation play game with a twist like Resident Evil. However, I found that this game was horrible in the multiplay arena. The game was easier (and slightly more fun) to play one player. There were way too many times when one player would get killed because another player was accidently trapping them.
When will companies come to the conclusion that sharing the same screen just doesn't work on multi-player? Split it up and allow each user to move freely!
