Single player fun....but with friends EVEN BETTER!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 1

I played this game in single player mode and to me it seemed like a mix of Gauntlet Dark Legacy, with the edges that resemble magic, and Resident Evil with the whole zombie slaughtering shoot em up game playing. You get some awesome weapons like high powered rifles, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, crossbows, pistols and shotguns. You also get magic to either blow away the enemies or healing yourself. Single player really is pretty difficult and fun, but with friends it is totally kick @$$. If you're into these types of RPGs then you will beat it with a friend with average difficulty. I gave it a four out of four because the camera angles can be annoying at times when approaching the enemy and it is lacking in graphics. BUT, it is an older game so whaddya expect. Have fun...

A Great Multiplayer Game

I thought this game was quite entertaining singleplayer, but the multiplayer feature was even better. You could start wherever you left off and fight story mode with 3 other friends. although the game is very repetitive, the swarms of zombies and monsters never gets me tired of the game. Hunter is great for a get together with the friends or even by yourself. the design and art of the game is very well detailed and the monsters are very well done. the game has pretty good graphics. this game is one of my games in my collection and it is going to be played for a while.

70,000 man hours for....this?

Before I purchased Hunter, the game was elevated to almost mythical status by my friends as we desperately sought a multiplayer fix for the Xbox. We read about this game but couldn't find a copy anywhere for days. When we finally got it, all this game had to do was NOT be total garbage for us to love it.

It was total garbage.

Gothic levels full of zombies are supposed to be spooky. That doesn't mean the levels have to be bland, 4 color affairs (Brown, Gray, Dark and Darker)where the lighting is often to dim to see your similarly bland character running around.

Strategy is non-existent in Hunter. You fight wave after wave of zombies that spawn in front of you without even trying to hide the fact that they are dropped in by the game. Bosses rely less on A.I. than on a million HPs that take forever to take out with the characters' woefully underpowered weapons.

The 4 player co-op is "hair-pullingly" bad, as the players are stuck sharing one screen. Power-ups are freqently just within reach, but you are unable to reach them as you are stuck in place until your buddies move up to your area. "Ah I'm stuck, move you idiot!" is a common refrain during a Hunter game session, and its not always said in good fun. The shared, limited Continues for dead players exacerbates the frustration of group play.

20 dollars is a good deal for a game, but Hunter is a last resort for players starved for a new game. It's mediocore, uninspired game design at it's best. A new add-on game is coming out soon, but my question to the game's developers is "why bother?"

Hunter rocks.

Bottom line is this game is a blast. It's really fun to play single player, but the real action is multiplayer. Several weapons, several monsters, quite a few bosses, and 4 unique characters. I've finished this game with 3 out of 4 of the characters, and I haven't gotten tired of it. Multiplayer is much more difficult, especially if everyone isn't really good. The only complaint about this game is in multiplayer everyone shares the continues, instead of everyone having their own. This sucks when you have two good players and a below-average player, because that player will eat all the continues. Even with that flaw it's still a 5, cuz it's damn fun. Buy it. ;)

Great game, nothing like it for stress relief

Awesome graphics, great control and 4 different types of character to play. Single player awesome fun and very addictive. Multi player is pretty hard though, and can be easy to trap each other's movement if you dont go the same way. But this game is unmatched on any next gen console in terms of sheer addictiveness for a survival horror game. Haven't had as much fun since Devil May Cry (which has better environments but less busyness and sheer bullet/corpse rate)

Great Game

Hi, would have given Hunter 4.5 stars. Can't seem to do it however. I bought Hunter based on reviews at various game sites. It is the only other Xbox game that I own, the other being Rally Sport. I love Hunter. I thought it might just be an OK game based on some opinions I read but, it certainly comes down to choice. I played with all the characters to start off and ended up with Avenger as my first character to use to get through the game. I'm not done yet but, close. The other reviews here cover the game well enough so I just want to say a little about why it's a great game for me. I play Xbox about once a week. Thats all I have time for. I like a fun, challenging game that I can play for awhile then put aside until next time. Hunter is good for that. It will last me a long time and I look forward to playing it after a week. I recommend it.

Good, Great, Awesome!

This game is good, great and awesome. I would recomend this to anybody. The only thing is it is kind of hard especially with more players so you should not get this as your first game, but you should get it.

not bad, but impossible to beat

My friends and i have been playing this game for months. MONTHS. and we keep getting stuck on the mansion level. The boss is impossible. we have figured this out. And on that note, i don't think it's possible to beat this game on single player, so don't even try. Don't get me wrong, gameplay is pretty good, graphics are above average, the fight music is pretty d*mn cool, and the story is quite interesting. pity i have yet to see how it ends. The bosses are far too difficult in this game. Even with 4 players they put up one hell of a fight. but, that could just be that my friends and i ar very bad at this game. but i don't think that's it. Also, it needs better cheats (simply because i need to get past that mansion boss and can't do it the honest way). All in all, a decent game, but definitely meant for multiplayer. have fun.

fun and not impossible to defeat. ALSO HELP FOR U!!!

look this game is good due to wat others say. the graphics are ok and the battles are intense. thers lots of weapons and all sort of enemies. this game is also can be played with 4 players!!every caracter is great with there own abilities which r cool. like some restore health protect give strenght. and stuff. its not impossible to beat ive beat the game. it is tough but you can make it through. if your playin only for one player dont bother to buy it. cause its imposble to beat yourself. its meant for 2-4 players. thers tons of gore. its lots of fun and very challenging. and for those of you that say its imposible to beat with even 4 friends. will guess wat ive beat it only with me and my friend. 2 people only. it was hard but we did it, so can u. and the guy that wrote that said hes stuck on the mansion boss heres how to beat it. you need atleast 2 people. meaning u and 1 more person. or more. u go directly behind the boss. ur other friends run around and shoot at the boss. the boss can hurt ur friends but it cannot hurt you from behind with the reaching claws and stuff. then take out your chainsaw and hack away at the boss from behind it will lose power fast and you can win. be sure to jump though when the boss jumps and makes that floor thing.

Insanely fun!

This game is fun, fun, fun! It's fun enough to play solo, but invite three other friends and this game just gets crazy fun. Think of Gauntlet add a dash of Resident Evil and you get Hunter. I hope they continue this as a series like the Resident Evil games.
