Probably the scariest Resident Evil...

Nemesis is one scary mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So beware!!

He seems to be around every corner imaginable, and he's quite invincible, until the end, so don't get those hopes up! :-)

A decent run-through, but a bit difficult.

Difficulty: 7
Difficulty, compared the hardest Resident Evil (RE Remake): 6
Graphics: 6.5
Characters: 6
Sound: 6.5
Replay-ability: 6 (You get more guns, I believe as well as other hidden bonuses).

3.5 stars.

CAPCOM DOES IT AGIAN, ALTHOUGH RE3 HAS THAT "BEEN THERE DONE THAT" GAMEPLAY, IT'S STILL JUST AS SCARY, IF NOT SUSPENSEFUL LIKE THE FIRST IN THE SERIES. THIS TIME, IT'S NOT THE ZOMBIES THAT'LL SCARE THE $#&% OUT OF YOU, BUT THE NAMESAKE CHARACTER HIMSELF; NEMESIS, HE'S ONE BAD MONSTER, ARMED WITH A BAZOOKA, AND TENTICLES, YOU BETTER STOCK UP ON PLENTY OF AMMO. SOME OF THE GAME'S CONCEPTS BORROWS HEAVILY FROM CULT FILMS LIKE; DAWN OF THE DEAD, THE TERMINATOR AND JOHN CARPENTER'S ESCAPE FROM NY. PLUS THERE'S A BONUS MINI GAME AFTER BEATING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. WORD OF WARNING; THE PUZZLES ARE A PAIN IN THE @$$! )0= GOOD LUCK! YOU'LL NEED IT. HA,HA,HA,HA,HAH!

too much and yet its not good

I bought Resident Evil 2 for the Playstation about 2 years ago. I loved it but man was it hard! i played it to death trying to beat it. after a couple of months I bought Resident Evil 1:Directors Cut...now this game was not bad. It had more puzzles than action which was ok but the thing that REALLY caught me was this game was scarier than RE2! It took place in a creepy old house that was big and grim. It seemed more like a horrer movie than Resident Evil 2. (Both games MUST have a stratagy guide, they are really tough)

I got RE 3 for Christmass and popped it in... WOW! the first thing I saw was an awesome opening movie. I was overjoyed. As I started playing, I really got into it. It has great sound, great control, great graphics...but the game is not that great... It offers a TON of replay because there are places where you can make decisions (set the plot in a different derection) but I think this game offers so much, its overwhelming. Especially after playing both of its predicessors. Playing on easy is good, but you get barely any herbs, so you're always dying. On easy there are TONS of guns and ammo so thats not a problem. But the "NEMISES" sucks. If you beat him, you get a prize, but beating takes away too much ammo and too much health because he is always TOO HARD! and the story really has no plot. (city is overrun by zombies). the puzzles are so unrealistic and dumb (and some are just frustrating), there are too many badguys... too many surprise attacks, too many endings that require you to play the game a million times, too much gorror (so much, its rediculous), a bimbo main character (come on, a female with a short short skirt and a purse is saving the city?), too many encounters with Nemises, too many requsites for getting post-game rewards (save 7 times to get rocket launchers or something), too many plot twists, to many locations, very annoying when you wanna travel back to the beggining of a level, rediculous "items pouch", too many rewards (find the files in a certain order, beat the game in 2 hours, make all the "right" desisions), too much replay (the game gets old), too unrealistic (zombies take out a whole s.w.a.t. team but fail to kill one lady), and the game is too linear... PHEW! is that enough for you? Overall, dont buy this game, its too overwhelming and frustrating.

Totaly Disapointing........

This is definetly a misleading title, it's more like Resident Evil 2.5. I mean looking at the improvment between RE1 and RE2, this thing is more like a side story. In fact it should have been the third disc in RE2, then there would be Jill, Claire, Leon. I did enjoy nemesis, he certinely scared the heck out of me every now and then, plus you have that added preasure while playing the game that hes stalking your every move. But I mean come on, the story takes place at the same place at the same time, when I firsted played the game I was like "Haven't I played this before?" The worst thing was the lack of story, after completeing both Claire and Leon discs in RE2, I was expecting more secrets & lies with the whole umbrella conspisy, and a rule of a trilogy is going back to the begining (Jill) and finding out something that wasn't true in the first place, but I didn't get diddly squat. And the whole thing just got repetitive without the story to drive me to find out what happens in the end. I really wish I had a Dreamcast so I could enjoy Code Veronica, the true Resident Evil 3.

The newest game to add to your game arsenal. Nemesis is a awsome game that keeps you interested for hours. The new puzzles are random which keeps you very interested. The only draw back is that the main evil in the story the Nemesis chases you around and he is very hard to beat but it keeps the suspense going. All-arounfd this game is great!

One of the best games on PSX!

This game kept me on the edge of my seat for days. I highly recommend. Gameplay is awesome, graphics are perfect and the bonus game at the end of the main game is worth playing through the whole thing more than once.

BEST RE GAME EVER

I am an owner of all three "Resident Evil" games, and I have to say that this is the best one out of all. It may not be as big of an improvement over RE2 as it was over RE, but there are several pleasant changes. Being able to dodge enemies at certain times is helpful, when you don't want to just get eaten in a corner. The gun powder/reloading tool feature is great, because you can decide which bullets you want to make, and you can make special rounds for the handgun and shotgun. Play it through on easy mode, and then tackle the hard mode. RE3's hard mode is the biggest challenge in the entire series, with frequent confrontations with the Nemesis.

Excellent Sequel and Improvement to RE Series

I was looking forward to this game monthes before it came out. At first, I was going to avoid it after hearing negative reviews of early footage from the playstation magazines, but since I'm a big fan of the "Resident Evil" games, I couldn't help getting it. And you know what? I'M GLAD I DID! If you loved the first two (and especially loved suffering through all the mind-numbing puzzles) this game is for you. Thankfully the characters can do quick-spins and move a lot faster, but so do the zombies! This game is great for replay value, and when you complete the game you get to play a special bonus game. Now, that's generous! But, be warned: if the puzzles in the first games drove you nuts, you're going to be climbing your walls over the ones in this game.

4.5 stars and the best RE for the PSX...

The Resident Evil line was supposed to go from RE2 to RE:Code Veronica, but somewhere along the way Capcom decided to cash in with this short sequel. Thus, it is somewhat understandable that this is no doubt the shortest of all the Resident Evil games. Nevertheless, don't let the lack of depth fool you because, in terms of replay value, this sequel is the best to date for many reasons.

First, RE:Nemesis, more so than the others before it, emphasizes action over suspense. It has none of that stupid item harvesting nonsense like: "what does this wierd emblem do" and "how do I find a key to open that closet door" so that I can "get a crank to turn this movable shelf" so that I can "dodge a trap boulder" and--you get the idea. Yes, you will have to light the now cliched fireplace once in your adventure but you can't hope for perfection just yet.

Once you streamline the puzzles and the item ferrying you get the focal point of the game: Nemesis. This guy will hound you through the entire adventure and is relentless in his pursuit. You get very little breathing space in this game to stop and smell the decaying biomatter which is the second plus of RE3.

Unlike the other 2 games before it where you were pretty much confined initially in one building (until you got the 4 arbitrary puzzle pieces to unlock the "mid-game" door), in RE3 you will dwell in one particular part of town very briefly and will be ducking into and out of buildings to find clues to your escape. Actually, you will be searching for a series of puzzle pieces mid-way into the game to start a rail car .... Along the way you will encounter other characters who will help you in your escape and unlike in the previous games, this time they at least make a token effort to try and get out of there too.

Concerning the quality of the game design itself, in terms of graphics, this sequel is much sharper and more detailed than its predecessors. The polygon count for the models have increased giving all the characters more depth and realism. The combat system has been improved: you can actually dodge enemy attacks and they have also added a 180-degree turn which allows you to quickly run away from a close assailant. In some rather intense action scenes, a pop-up menu will appear forcing you to choose between two alternatives. The choice you make will have either minor or major effects upon the storyline.

As for those who were hoping for relief from the now infamous tank-like control scheme, don't expect any here as nothing has changed. There will still be fixed camera shots looking down on your character at wierd angles with lots of narrow streets to navigate through. But for those of you who can put up with the awkward control scheme ..., this game should please the avid gamer.

Bottom Line: In a series that is quickly exhausting its store of new ideas, RE:Nemesis applies the tried and true formula with addictive results. How long this effortless success will last on Capcom's part will depend on whether or not players are willing to keep eating the same thing up over and over again.

Key highlights

Less item collecting
Majority of the puzzles fit logically into the gaming universe and don't seem contrived--some exceptions (note puzzles are more difficult)
More combat; more weapons; more enemies
More in-game cut scenes
Alternate endings
Has an unlockable mini-game that is playable once you beat the game
Two difficulty settings
5 new unlockable costumes
8 RE epilogue files detailing what happens to all the RE characters at the end of RE3
And much much more.
