The best of the series

I loved this game so much I'm a die-hard RE fan. Everything about this game was great because the graphics were improved, the atmosphere of the game was chilling, the NEMESIS creature was fantastic and this game showed us the fate of Racoon City as well as finding out who or what was that pesky "super-zombie" was in RE2. I don't understand what is the problem if it is set before and then after the events of RE2. It is still a great and is the real sequel, not that annoying Code Veronica (what kind of name is that anyway?). This game is a must-buy for anyone who loves RE as much as I do.

I really liked it

Maybe this one wasn't as good as the second one but I've played through that one about a dozen times and this one I guess is more fresh. The only really bad thing about this one is that it's less of a sequel then you would expect, like if you played the second game you could pretty much pick up from where you left off so there is little surprise, there is plenty of times where I jumped, this series was always pretty good and making you jump out of your seat. But the pros outweigh the cons but quite a bit. One thing is that the graphics are a lot more detailed and more disturbing, and another thing is the load times have gone down a few seconds, which makes more of a differance then you would think. There are new moves you can pull off, like a dodge or a 180 turn, those were nice. Nemesis is a pretty scary guy to. And this is a nice and scary game all together, there isn't much really to complain about, it's good fun. And the sound is awesome.

Resident Evil 3 is a excellent game. Anyone who enjoys role playing games will surely enjoy this one. Resident Evil 1 and 2 were good , but in the third installment the graphics are better, and the overall game was a bit more challenging for me. This game comes highly recommended!

Two was cooler, but this game is nothing if not addictive!

In Res Evil two, you had two discs of stuff to get done, one playing as Leon, and the other as Claire. In this one, you are Jill Valentine, and you can't really pick anyone else.

Still, the weapons in this game improved a great deal! You get the standard pistol, shotgun etc... but there are improved bullets to be made, more powerful shotguns/pistols, M-16 rifles, and so much more! Also, each time you defeat Nemesis in the hard level, he gives you a peice to a gun you won't find in the game, or something cool like that. Then there is the Mercenaries game after you beat the actual game through the first time. Mercenaries is a little bit redundant, but if you keep at it, you can buy unlimited ammo, start with automatic weapons and more! This means any gun you find in the game never runs dry, and believe me, the first time through the hard level, you're going to WANT more ammo! Besides, as you obtain more powerful weapons, you can swat Nemesis like a pesky fly with the missile launcher, mow down Zombies with the Magnum, or mass-attack with the mini gun.

The story is pretty much "get outta Dodge", but the added affects of meeting various survivors here and there is kind of cool (although some of the survivors are not always the good guys). Also, each time you beat the game, you get another peice of what is happening with Leon, Claire, Barry, and more!

I'd suggest this one, I played it for a solid month, even after I beat it (and I'm still playing)!

Man oh man resident evil is awesome ever since I saw the movie I replayed the first one and bought Resident Evil Code Veronica for PS2 (but have no PS2 going to get one) and I recently bought 2 and 3 for PSX and it was awesome funny story I beat Resident Evil 2 and 3 and have'nt beatin 1 I am literally stuck my freakin brain hurts and I get frustrated but 2 and 3 no sweat. I can't wait to see the sequel to Resident Evil called "Resident Evil 2: Nemesis" due I think 2003 or 2004. Gameplay:
The controls feel a lot more comfortable and easy to use in this game, and the weapons are limitless. Everytime I start a new game I have all the weapons in my item box already. This game is so easy I once beat it in one day! I love how they let you turn quickly unlike in the others.

Monsters:
The zombies in this game really frighten me, especially the super zombie (I don't mean the Nemesis). The super zombie is real hard to find and it's toward the end of the game. I won't spoil it but be sure to look for it. The Nemesis is also real scary. His rocket launcher looks real old and rusty, making him look like he's been layin' underwater for a long time. I noticed how he really resembles Mr. X from RE2 in many ways. Both wear trench coats, both are big, both are immune to gunfire, neither feels like taking any mercy, they both pick you up if you are on their right side, and they mutate gradually. At first I actually got the idea that they were both the same creature, but then realized, nope. Also, in case no one noticed, when you go into the area with the trolly car (Before getting the parts to use it), and you look at the firey area ahead of it, you'll notice that it's the same area that RE2 started in. You see the huge truck, crashed into the building, and you can just tell it's the same area. To prove it, just look at both maps in RE2 and RE3. It's the same spot, believe me. So obviously both games take place in pretty much the same area, except all the wreckage blocks Jill, Claire, and Leon from ever meeting, although that would be interesting. Apparently they never meet, at least not from what I've seen.

Story:
It's very simple at first. Umbrella's T-Virus infects the whole city, but sends their mercenaries to clean up the mess. The police department gets infected, so there's almost no hope. Except for Jill, who resigns from S.T.A.R.S., and prepares to escape the city. The apartment she lives in blows up and she escapes, then proceeds to start plowing through the zombie hordes. Meanwhile most of the mercenaries from Umbrella are killed and only Carlos, Mikhail, and Nicholai remain. Although there's also one named Murphy, but he gets killed by Carlos because he's about to turn into a zombie. I won't spoil the important events, but this game is really scary. It'd be interesting if they remade RE2 and RE3 like they did with RE1 and REzero. I hope they eventually do. Then maybe remake RE code veronica, possibly. This game seems more like a movie, since the whole thing could be completed in one day if you have infinate rockets, infinate gatling gun ammo, and infinate M gun ammo. You can do that by beating the game once, and playing the mercenaries game afterward. It's real fun, and you can earn money to buy those weapons. You could also buy infinate ammo for all the guns, but I figure, eh, why bother when you got those three already. I love this game and it's really fun, so give it a try (Unless you already have it, obviously.)

Puzzle ANSWERS!

The hardest puzzle of all (NOOOO!!!).

You need to line up wave lengths A, B, and C so that when they pile up on top
of each other, they cause the result to look just like the sample.

[These from Jesse Main (slipknot_957@hotmail.com)]

There's 4 possible solutions:
1. A - 4 right. B - 2 right. C - 2 left.
2. A- 1 right. B - 1 right. C - 2 left.
3. A - 1 left. B - 2 left. C - 2 right.
4. A - 1 right. B - 3 right. C - 4 left.

Even with the solutions, it still might take a little bit to do this. I
recommend writing down what you do, then if it doesn't work, do it backwards to
return it to its original position. Then, try another solution.

This is for the Water Purification Puzzle towards the very end of the game. (If you tried something diffrent and got it, please email me tstrong2999@aol.com)

not the best place to start, but RE gold for veterans

Resident evil is one of the longest run PlayStation titles out there. It is really a shame that Gamecube is the exclusive RE platform now, because Playstation always did it best. Since th very birth of PS, there has been resident evil, and RE 3 does not dissapoint. RE 3 puts a great new spin on the series, through the arch super villan nemesis. Nemesis (as you can see from the box art) is a menacing tyrant, much like the tyrants in RE 2 out for the lead character Jill's blood. The great part about this game is the difficulty setting. While they really make no difference, it can give the new gamers to this title a bit more edge, since this is one of the harder RE titles.

The thing that makes this game so adicttive to survival horror junkies like myself is the claustrophobic action, Throughout the game you have the idea in the back of your head that nemesis could be, and usually is, behind every corner. For some this good, for some this is bad. Some people enjoy walking through the city for hours and not having to worry about running themselves out of herbs and ammo every ten minutes. However, for most others it adds a great suspensful feeling to the game, and makes you feel more and more like your action do matter a great deal.

As for the controls, no one will like them at first. It is sort of an acquired taste that most survival horror games have when ti comes to controls. Since all the camera angles are stationary (it makes the game look better so don't complain) this game utilizes the up arrow as always being forward. Some people seem to understand it better if you explain as being an RC car, whether face south, north, east or west, up wil always drive you forward. There realyl is no way around this configuration, it really is best to dive right in and get used to it, even if it means being massacred five minutes in a bunch of times.

In conclusion, I would not pick this RE in particular for anyone new to the series. With the inclusion of nemesis, you are required to make split second decisions, and it will often confuse,a nd ultimately lead to the death of more novice players. If you are new to the series, try RE 2, RE 1 has a few problems present for newer players, but RE 2 is the perfect balance of horror, and simplicity. If your a veteran to RE, look no further for fun, just don't expect it to be a cake walk!
