It seems that the creators of the original Resident Evil have once again outdone themselves. Although I wouldn't exactly call this a sequal. (It's more of a side story actually.) RE3 is definitly the scariest of all the RE games. The new Nemesis character is actually quite cool. The developers of the game said that no matter where you go the Nemesis is watching you, and boy howdy are they right. There are plenty of old tricks for old time RE fans as well as some new ones. For instance there's a new dodge option where you can dodge any attack from any enemy. Also, there is the 180 spin. (Introduced in Dino Crisis.) As for replay value, there is a lot. Throughout the game you given choices that you must make in split seconds. Depending on what you decide, you will get a different story and a different outcome. So be warned all ye who are without courage. This game is not for those who take to renting scary movies and hiding under their blankets. If you want to experience real life survival horror, you'll want to experience Resident Evil 3.

THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS GAME!

I have no clue how anyone could say this is a bad game. I own all three of the Resident Evil games and RE3 is by far the best. I have never been more scared in my entire life. I also like the fact that there were multiple new features.

1: THE NEW DODGE FEATURE: I found this to come in quite useful. In the previous two RE games you could not dodge an enemies attack.

2: AMMO CREATION: I liked the fact that gamers can create their own ammo for their style of play. Those who like the shotgun make shotgun shells and etc.

3: NEW MERCENARIES MODE: This is a game within itself. Gamers get the chance to become three mercenaries that they meet throughout the game and try to survive the streets of the undead.(THIS CAN ONLY BE ACHEIVED AFTER BEATING THE GAME)

Along with the great story line, it has the best gameplay. You can not predict what will happen. Nemesis shows from out of nowhere. The undead break out of places as you pass them and scare the wits out of you. If you dare play this game in complete dark. I did and it enhanced the play more. It seemed like you were then part of a big movie.

All in all I RECOMMEND TO ALL THAT THIS IS A GAME THAT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY YOU PAY FOR IT!

EWWWW THAT NEMESIS IS JUST PLAIN EVIL ISNT HE. WOW IS THIS GAME EVER COOL. YES ITS A GREAT GAME AND THE ONLY NEGATIVE I HAVE IS THE LACK OF BRAIN TEASING PUZZLES AND THE OVER ABUNDANCE OF ZOMBIES. ITS THE BEST STORY LINE YET AND IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED THE FIRST 2 YET WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE LAST 3 YEARS. YOU CANT PLAY THIS ONE UNTIL YOUVE PLAYED THE FIRST TWO, SORRY YOU JUST CANT. GRAPHICS, WEAPONS, ENEMIES, DIFFICULTY, ORIGINALITY, I COULD GO ON FOREVER BUT I WONT CUS YA GOTTA BUY IT NOW, THE GAME OF THE YEAR EASILY.

Not the scariest, but certainly the most fun.

There are a lot of reviews from people who knocked off this game just for some minor elements that are not up to par with RE2 such as the intro and the storyline. That is not fair because in my opinion, there were a number of factors in RE2 that did not measure up to the original(weaker puzzles and way too much ammo for a survival game just to name two). But that was not cause for ignoring what made RE2 superior. So let me bring up some of RE3's enhancements that these reviewers neglected to mention:

1)The new 'make-your-own-ammo' system which lets you customize your playing style.

2)Random enemy and item placement which keeps you guessing.

3)Branching paths that can affect future events. Out of the 3 games, RE3 is the most non-linear.

4)New defensive moves: Dodging and the 180-turn.

5)Interactive background elements(i.e. Exploding barrels, steam valves, etc).

6)And last and certainly not least: Nemesis, the REAL star of the show.

Just to be on even ground, RE3 DOES have a weaker storyline and the cinemas are choppier. You do not get to play as the super-cool mercenary, Carlos for the whole game but, his scenario is much longer and complex than the 'Hey, fetch me that serum/key' mini-quests from the last REs. This is not the scariest of the trilogy but it is certainly the most fun.

Simply the best, so far?

I anticipated the release of this game for months. I had a deposit on it three months before it was released and all I can say is WOW. This is the best game in the RE series so far. This game offers live selection which is a great added feature but I especialy enjoy the fact that you are not locked into your selection (Dino Crisis) for instance if you make a decision and the change your mind the game always leaves you the option to take another route. This is the best game ever and I hope that the upcoming dreamcast version of RE4 will be as well thought out as RE3. All in all new weapons, new moves and lots of fun. Thank you Capcom, Inc.

S.T.A.R.S. ....

This game was possibly one of the best Resident Evil games yet . The storyline was a little kinky , but everything else was pretty much alright . Jill Valentine has quit the S.T.A.R.S. team and had been hiding out in her apartement knowing that the city was being invaded by the cannibal zombies . Until one night , she couldn't take it anymore . She knew she needed to escape . As she leaves her apartement , and heads to the Police Departement , she encounters a Tyrant like monster developed by the Umbrella Corporation to stalk and eliminate every S.T.A.R.S. member before they leave the city alive . Jill also encounters her last hope of human life in the city left . The U.B.C.S. team , a military team sent in by Umbrella to save all the survivors and eradicate all of the Viral Creatures . Now Jill must team up with the last three surviving teammates of the U.B.C.S. and escape the city but the T-Virus Mutants and Zombies stand in their way . And the Umbrella Corporation might have some other ideas than saving everyone ...

I thought this game was pretty fun . It did scare me a bit when the Nemesis Tyrant started to chase me around and wouldn't give up . The mutants were scary , but usually easy to beat . They would gang up on me alot of times . The zombies were fairly easy to beat and there were alot more variety of zombies too .

This time , you actully get to stay outside in the city instead of staying indoors at all times like in Resident Evil 2 . The area's of the game are all fairly creepy . I really dont think they should have added the Police Departement in . It was really a big waste of time . The waste manegment factory left you with a feeling of alone-ness while the city left you feeling like there was still help left since you could hear gunfire of the surving citezins throughout the whole city . \

best redident evil out there

okay, first of all, i havnt played this for a while so just hang in there with me. i was always a big resident evil fan, from the first game where you see the first zombie, i was hooked.

Now, the review itself. This game is full of gore, ranging from blowing the head off a zombie with a magnum, or shooting them in half with a shot-gun, this is not a game for the feint of heart or the squeemish. with that said, onto the game itself. In the begining you start out as the lovely, as always, Jill Valentine. You are in a building with zombies trying to get at you from all angles (breaking through windows and trying to beat down doors). Suddenly a make-shift wall explodes and you come running out, rou have to make your way down the alley way and into a safe place, blasting zombies on the way. You stumble into a building and meet some random guy, and like alway he has no idea whats going on.

Now, this game is not full of action and explosions, even thought those things are evident in the game, this is a survival horror game suggesting exactly what the genre says, surving the horrors of a zombie take over.

You run around the city from place to place collecting keys and items that will help unlock areas as you go, along with weapons and ammo. Being the seemingly frail Jill Valentine may not appeal to most gamers, but to me, i couldnt enjoy it more. Blasting zombies from a females perspective is not only awesome, but sometimes tricky. She is obviously not as strong as a man, and cannot perform some tasks due to this fact, but those things she cant do dont really have a place in this game. It also makes fighting the zombies feel realistic, because she has trouble fighting them off when the get too close.

The zombies themselves are your typical zombies, slow and usually unthreatening, but once you open a door and six or seven of the ugly beasts come pooring out and the dramatic music kicks in, your heart will definately race. There are boss monsters here and there, but most of them have a pattern, and once you figure it out they are not that difficult.

The main badguy, the nemesis, is down right frightening, and hes not your typical boss either. He is terrifyingly (sp?) fast. He will pop out of nowhere and scare the begesis out of you. Fighting him at first is not an option you want to persue, but it is possible to defeat him. Did i mention how fast he his? Dont get your hopes up becasue he will eventually get back up and hunt you down again. He has his own agenda, which is to track down all the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members, which you (Jill Valentine) are a part of. He also, at one point in the game, has a freaking rocket launcher strapped to his arm!!! That just shows you how powerfull this guy is.

The graphics of the game are pretty good, but they could have been better. One thing you have to keep in mind though, is the time period the game was made, and the system it is on. So comparing them to the graphics of today would be rediculous. They are good though.

The controls are typical to the Resident evil series, which to those who never played one of these games before will take a few minutes to get used to, but once you do, you will be bobbing and weaving through those hordes of zombis like a pro.

The game play is decent. Again, typical to the series. This game, over all doesnt stray too far from the genre. Although Capcom did introduce a decision making factor where in certain situations you have to make one of two choices which will slightly determain the ending of the game, so the re-play value is moderatly high. Once yo beat the game you will unlock a mini game called "The Mercinaries" which places you in the shoes of one of the character you will meet in the game, and you will have to make it from point A to point B in a certain amoutnt of time. You will only have a limited amount of ammo and items to get you through it. If you make it you will be rewarded with money to buy some extras in the game, like weapons and costumes.

The ending is kinda drab, but still great non-the-less. Once you see it you will find out the it is necessary. Dont let what i said about the ending drive you away from purcasing this beauty of a survival horror game, because this game is great and a must have for any gamer, whether youre a colector or a player, so what are you waiting for? Buy it right now!

The Truth about Resident Evil 3...

As I have mentioned before in my past reviews, I did not and will not buy Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 3 for Gamecube, I just don't feel like they gave the fans what they could have given them. In the fact that Resident Evil Remake, for Gamecube, is far better than the original Resident Evil on PSX 1.

That out of the way, let's slip once again into the Survival Horror genre with Resident Evil 3. To be flat-out-honest I loved this game from begining to end. Never once did I find myself annoyed or slowed down with any problems while playing this game. The graphics and sound are not much more than Resident Evil 2 gave us BUT the game itself seems to flow seemlessly with RE 2 in every aspect.

I feel that Capcom hit the nail on the head with this game as they did with Resident Evil 2... heck thus far they have done a real bang up job making these games. In closing all I can tell you is that not trying Resident Evil 3 would be a mistake... as the game has everything in it that you would need for a heartpounding experience of fun.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is sometimes called the forgotten installment in the Resident Evil series. Other people just call it the least popular. Let's face it: all the attention went to Resident Evil 1 and 2 because those were the games that were revolutionary. Those were the games that not only brought realistic, never-before-seen gameplay and 3D survival horror graphics to the original Playstation, but the Resident Evil series also made it *very* difficult for any imitators to come along and try to overtake the popularity and success of the Resident Evil series. Capcom knew they had something amazing with this series, and that's why when video game fans think about being scared and trying to stay alive, the Resident Evil series *immediately* comes to mind.

Now, here comes Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, at the time of its release, this game didn't receive NEARLY as much attention as the previous two Resident Evil games. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that video game fans were anticipating the upcoming release of the Playstation 2 in the year 1999, or maybe people thought the Resident Evil series was starting to run dry. Nah, I highly doubt that second one is true. Nemesis was just the Resident Evil game that didn't really stand out, despite the many positive reviews of the game that I'm sure you've read about. Yes, the game is fantastic, and the fact that so many people would agree with me is more proof that the Resident Evil series was nowhere NEAR ready to be forgotten. Not in this lifetime, baby. It's just that Nemesis wasn't really a drastic jump forward in terms of innovation, like Resident Evil 2 was.

I honestly believe, if you have an appetite for running around destroying zombies, that Nemesis is the *perfect* Resident Evil game for you. I was completely taken by surprise as I continued to progress through the game and notice that the amount of zombies and other familiar enemies are absolutely LOADED almost everywhere you go. Zombies left and right!

At the very beginning of the game, when I looked inside that giant item box beside the typewriter, I couldn't believe Capcom was so generous as to give me more than enough ammo right from the beginning. I really mean it- you receive a LOT of ammo from your item box. After beating the game, I had a ton of ammo leftover. Now, I realize people will probably look at this as a bad thing, and complain that lots of ammo greatly decreases the challenge and makes progressing through the game a cakewalk. They'd also have a point if they wanted to complain that giving you loads of easily-available ammo straight from your item box doesn't really define "strategy game", since you aren't spending the majority of your time dodging enemies- you can simply walk up to them and shoot them and have *more* than enough ammo available for the next enemy you encounter. They'd be absolutely correct, on both counts.

Capcom is also pretty generous when it comes to those green herbs and first aid sprays. You can find plenty of them throughout the game, just sitting around on the table or floor, making the challenge level go down even more. Oh, and let's not forget that, in addition to having lots and lots of ammo generously offered to you, you also receive a few awesome weapons such as a machine gun and a shotgun straight from the beginning of the game. Another thing- when you pick up, for example, handgun bullets, you actually receive a LOT of ammo. I believe in Resident Evil 2 each of those orange packs of ammo contained about 15 bullets. In this game, you receive, and I'm honestly not kidding, around 40-50 bullets per pack. Capcom made running out of ammo something you will NEVER have to worry about.

However, in a few ways, the challenge has been increased from Resident Evil 2. For example, remember how slow the zombies would walk up to you in Resident Evil 2? You could practically stand next to them and blast away, and not have to worry about taking any hits. In Nemesis however, zombies are almost RUNNING at you, forcing you to turn around and allow yourself room to shoot. This is awesome, because you won't know which zombies are slow pokes and which ones are speed runners until you see one on screen. Oh, and thankfully a quick turnaround button has been included. Press down on the directional pad + the run button to turn right around. Very convenient button.

This game is also much scarier, not to mention much bloodier, than the previous Resident Evil game. The last time around, only *sometimes* zombies would break a window and try to attack you (along with crows, dogs and other dangerous enemies). In Nemesis, not only do windows break all the time, but zombies can pop out of cars, jump down from buildings, and other incredible things. Many times you will be caught completely off guard when it happens, too. This is awesome.

I love the fact that you actually go back to the police station from the previous Resident Evil game for a short while. You go back, grab some things, and then head back out to the streets again, where most of the game takes place. Interesting how the music from the main hall of the police station has remained exactly the same, and it's also interesting when you notice certain places blocked off that were very important to access in the previous game with Claire and Leon as your playable characters.

You're probably wondering why the game is called Nemesis. Well, Nemesis is the name of an enormous, persistent and dangerous maniac that, throughout the game, constantly tries to attack you. He can either smack you with his arm, or shoot rockets at you. This doesn't make the game as hard as you probably think, because most of the time you can simply run away from him. However, when he appears, get ready to either fight or run away. Don't stand around too long. Decide quickly!

I want to set the record straight about something. People writing reviews for this game will probably tell you that Nemesis chases you around from the beginning to the end of the game. That's not exactly true. Yes, it's true he will be a problem for you until the very last level but, you should know that Nemesis does NOT follow you around for the entirety of the game- he just appears *sometimes*, messes with you by following you into rooms and whatnot, and then he disappears for a while. If you haven't played this game yet, some reviewers will have you convinced that Nemesis will be chasing you around ALL the time -nonstop- and this is NOT true.

Probably the biggest challenge comes in the way of puzzle-solving. Now, think back to Resident Evil 2. What did you have? You had three or four puzzles to solve. And they were EASY! In Nemesis, let's see, you have 10-12 puzzles to solve, and some of them simply can't be completed unless you're either a really excellent puzzle solver, or you look the answers up on the internet.

Yes, I'm talking about that famous, dreaded water puzzle near the end of the game. Honestly, the best way to successfully finish the darn puzzle is to just look up all the possible solutions on the internet, and then write them down. I found seven different answers so far. Don't feel ashamed for having to look up the answers. This is one of those rare nearly-possible puzzles that you shouldn't feel bad about for not being able to understand it. Don't get me wrong- once you find out how to do the puzzle, it's easy. But if you happen to be mostly familiar with Resident Evil 2, and think you can go through the game on your own without a walkthrough, looking up help will probably be the best idea when you finally arrive to this puzzle. You'll be glad when it's finished!

The game has a good storyline too (well, by video game standards anyway) with excellent, action-packed cutscenes located throughout the game. If you consider yourself an action-type person, you will enjoy some of these cutscenes a LOT. I guarantee it. One of them has something to do with a helicopter, and you'll love watching it.

Also, Resident Evil 3 includes an infinite amount of ink ribbons to save your progress, and you now also have an option to skip over dialogue conversations and cutscenes by pressing the select button. You didn't have this in the last game.

Overall, I give this game the highest possible score you can give, and that would be 5 stars. It truly deserves it. The fact that you have to face about TWICE as many zombies this time around, and the fact that you are basically outside roaming the streets the entire time are major, major highlights for the game. These streets are deadly. Pick up this game today, and have fun.
