AMAZINGLY ACTION PACKED FLIGHT-SIM!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Flight simulators usually are either too dull or too fake or too detailed. This game strikes a perfect balance between entertainment and realism. The unbelievably detailed graphics supply the realism, and the well-concieved controls and view modes provide the action. Every notable 3rd generation jetfighter, plus a few 4th generation like the F-22 and Su-37 are present, along with old favorites like the F-14 and F-16.
If you liked Ace Combat 2 on the PSX, you won't be able to live without this game!!

I finished this game in 2 days , it has about 19 missions . Honestly this game is quite short and really annoying me becasue I want to play more ! Graphics are marvellous ! , you can see your plane in 360'as well as replay movie . The sounds and songs in the game really make this game goes right to the top rank for PS2 games. If you love planes THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.
Good hunting.

If you are into fighter aircraft, this game is a must have. It is much like the other Ace Combat games (which is a good thing), but the graphics are AWESOME!!! The backgrounds finally look real, and the fighters look great. There is even an inside-the-cockpit view, which is different for each fighter! The radio traffic is more varied, and more phrases are used than ever before. In addition, the in-game music is even good. Special effects like missle streams and heat exaust add to the overall visual excellence. The awesome graphics, sound, and gameplay make this as close to the real thing as possible. The missions are even logical and realistic. I can think of no drawbacks to this game. It is solid in every way.

More fun than you can shake a homing missile at

This game may not be ultra realistic, or have a grand sweeping story, but... It just feels right, you fly modern aircraft that carry 50 missiles and shoot at things in a virtual world that can only be described as beautiful. I gave my dad the controller and he had the feel in a minute, fun for everyone!

well worth it

i bought this game and much to my surprise it is a really great game, the games play very smoothly, the only problem i have with the game is the actual flying of the plane, but i have only played it for three days now, so i may get better, but i think that for the money value, this is a wonderful game, rich graphics, and smooth game play.

I just can't stop playing it!

I rented this game and ended up finishing it in maybe 7 or 8 hours of gameplay. (in normal mode) This may seem short but only because I Just HAD to see what the next mission was like and basically played it straight through. Now that I've completed it I still can't put it down, because once complete you can "continue" your career and fly the missions over again, but with your new, much improved hardware. Destroying targets in missions earns you cash which you can use to buy new planes. (21 I think?) Just because you've completed all 18 missions doesn't mean you can afford all the planes though, far from it. I held out for several missions until I could afford the mid-grade F-15, but there are many more after that. (you have to resist buying every plane you can afford and save up for the really sweet rides) I went through a few missions a second time until I could afford the awesome F-15 Advance. (WOW) There are tons of other real world planes, many F22 & F16 variants, the F117 (stealth fighter) and several Warsaw Pact planes, (Migs and stuff) and last but not least, that loveable, tank-busting A10 Warthog. All of them perform/appear different enough to warrant purchase, and I sorta have that "gotta catch 'em all" feeling. I also read somewhere about unlocking alternate paint schemes. Sheesh! The missions themselves are nicely varied as is the terrain/environment. The radio chatter and military style pre-mission briefing add alot of tension and atmosphere and the storyline is pretty cool too. Obviously, I plan on adding this one to my collection permanently and would recommend you do the same.

Is this the best fighter sim ever? It may verywell be!

I got this game for christmas and i have become hooked! The graphics on this are PHENOMENAL! The planes look like a picture, from above the ground is a perfect cityscape! The only hard part is pickin your plane, because there are so many to choose from! The controls are very good and easy to learn. It is very realistic also. It's not like most games were you can take one 20 hits and your enemys can take 1 its equal between you and the enemy. So if your looking for a fighter jet sim on your PS2 look no farther than Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies!

Pass Grandma's oxygen please!!

I can now understand why the commercial for this game has the guy taking Grandma's O2. This is definitely a thrill to play. The graphics are great and quite believable, and the controls are pretty good too. I have only two complaints with the game...Those damn voices (radio traffic) get pretty annoying after extended play, (just like they did in the other editions) and the text print of the radio traffic obscures the compass on the HUD. I could have also done without the little story thing in between missions. The story line is good, but if you're going to use it, spend the time and do an actual full-motion cut scene, don't just paste a static picture in front of me and then tell me a story.

Those things kept me from giving it 5 stars, but this is definitely one to have on your shelf.

All aircraft follow Mobius One!!!

A streaking, soaring, banking, swooping, magestic game. I've never like flight sims much but this was a work of art. The last mission makes you feel like Luke Skywalker flying along the shaft on the DeathStar. My girlfriend is jealous of this game

Just like Beggar's Canyon back home!!
