There are already lots of good reviews of AC4 so I'll be brief. This is an excellent game and is one I plan to keep in my inventory. Replay value is high especially after completing all the missions when you can choose what missions you want to redo. About the only negative things I can say are about the story line movies (which can be bypassed) and the difficulties in making out text in the plane and weapon selection screens. No biggies, though. Buy it.

Another awsome game!!

This is an awsome game. It is defianatly a must have if you like flight sims. It has about 15 missions or so and some extra features that come once you have completed the game's missions. The only complaint that I have is that the physics of the planes (speed, the range of the missles, and the accuracy of the bullets) are pretty unrealistic. An A-10 can't fly hardly over 400 knots and the A-10 in this game can fly easily over 500. You also have to be about 900 feet from the enemy before the missles can be locked on. In real life it can be about a mile or so, I beilieve. Those are my only complaints, but it's not enough to take over the fun this game produces to fighter plane fans. You have to buy your airplanes by the money you recieve from succesfull missions (the F-4 is your starting plane). It also tells a story as you play the missions, a pretty good one, too.

The finest console air combat game ever!

If there's one thing that NAMCO is known for, it's getting the gameplay right and then not messing with it. Oh, and GRAPHICS. From the Ridge Racer series to the Soul Caliber and Tekken series, every new game never fails to amaze with graphics that push the system far past the limits we all thought it had. This game is no different.

The best way to describe this game is to call it technical perfection. The in-flight graphics are the most perfect I have ever seen in ANY air-combat game, pc or console. The load times are non-existant. And needless to say, if you liked the previous voice-overs, music, menus and graphical mission readouts from the previous games, you'll be in heaven. And even when you die (and trust me you will), you can just choose restart from a menu and go right into the action.

Okay, so the graphics and presentation are great. But we all know no game is worth playing that doesn't have great gameplay. While there aren't many missions in this game, the missions that are to be found are absolutely outstanding, with changing mission objectives, and bonuses to be obtained from destroying special enemies and getting a high score (as a side note, at any time during a mission you can flying back to your aircraft carrier by going past the white dotted lines on the map in order to refill your ammo and repair ALL damage to your craft). And since you have TWO unlockable difficulty levels to beat after you beat the game the first time (I'm currently working on expert and hoping to unlock ace), you'll be playing the same missions over and over. Usually something like that would bug me, but the missions are so darn fun (And the jets you unlock later are so cool) that you won't mind a bit.

This game is no slouch in the audio department either. The sound effects realistic, and the voice-overs from both the enemy, and from your wingmen during the missions are wonderful.

When you are playing this game, it almost feels real. But I doubt flying a real fighter jet would ever be this fun.

Even though Acecombat 4, the only aircraft game I have ever played, is the best game I have ever played. I got this game for the Christmas of 2001 as a gift from my uncle. The first time I played it I was hooked, because for my whole life I have been interested in aircrafts such as the 18 fighters and attackers in this game. My older brother hates these types of games but admits how good it is.
The game made a great first impresion on me. Out of my 12 or 13 games I own, this is my favorite. The game play is remarkable, the best I have ever played, along with the grafics. I knew i wanted this game from the comercials because it didnt matter to me it was a flying game.
I came to Amazon.com because i heard it sold other aircraft games similar to Acecombat. One of these games is "Top Gun: Combat Zones" and others. Well if you dont have Acecombat 4 i highly recomend it to you!!

At first after i got the game on Dec. 23 2002 i thought the analog controls were [bad]. Then later after i became accustomed to the game i realized the analog control was better than the direction button control in ac 2 and ac3.The only thing I hate is the two player mode. With the split screen you can't see anything. The planes are awesome and the graphics are great. In my opinion the only flaw is the two player mode but everything else makes up for it. Even replaying the game after beating it is fun!! You would be missing out on this great game if you don't buy it!!

This game is awesome!

I have had this game for a very long time, and it is still the greatest game (outside of the NBA Live series) ever made. The graphics in AC: 04 are good, but not amazing. What I like most about this game is the senerio you are put up against, being an ace pilot for the ISAF. When your armed forces regroup from the mainland, and to some islands, you are redeployed to the south, invade the Esuea continent, and crush the Euruseans back to their capitol. The last mission, Megalith, is the greatest mission on this game, since it is the Euruseans last ditch superweapon for retaliation against the world, and it must be destroyed. Ace Combat: 04 never gets old; it is a classic. I am now an Ace Combat serires fan.

This is the best flight game i ever played. I love it. Most flight sim Games i played were just using one plane and firing two cannons.WELL this is great you choose planes and buy new ones plus you can buy and use differnent wepons. I Finished the game in about three days in very hard mode. To my suprise you could start over, to ADD to you airplane count without loosing your old ones. I Have to put this in my top 10 games.

Ace Combat 4 is easily one of the best flight sims out there. It seems almost pointless to repeat what other reviewers have said about the superior graphics, great gameplay, and interesting plot. However, few reviews deal with the fact that this game is appropriate for any age group. There are four different difficulty levels, so the game can support players regardless of their skill. Almost as importantly, there is little swearing and no violence. Of course, there are many explosions between all of the buildings and planes that get in the way, but rarely does anyone actually die (they eject, according to the dialogue). Parents can be relieved by the fact that their kids will not have to face anything too mature by playing this game, but the game still manages to stay interesting for older audiences between the plotline and the many different planes that can be unlocked at higher difficulty levels. It is very rarely that a game can appeal to such a large audience successfully. Ace Combat 4 is worth a look, whether it is for your kids or for yourself.

Ripping Style!!!

This may seem hasty to write, but I can't see another game getting better than this. The only other flight game I played was "Top Gun" and that was a joke so don't be enticed by the title. If the images of speeding in a jet, blowing up ground sites and dog fighting other aces, then Ace Combat is it!!!

I gave it only 4 stars because it took me awhile to get used to turning the jet (I crashed several times) but once I understood how to control it I became a "speedfreak". I would be flying so fast that I would launch two missiles while chasing the enemy, and they would explode after I passed them up! The other reason why I gave this only 4 stars is that maybe there is a possibility that there might be a better flight game than this...but I doubt it. Uh, they're calling me
