OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME

One word for this games is "BREATH TAKING". I'll be honest I don't know much about the story but I know its deep and well thought off. All I know is your flying a superb jet plane fully loaded and there is a made up island which is having problems and you are sent in. The graphics are lovely and fantastic. The PS2 shows off its graphics capability. Which are impressive. I strongly recomend this. Get this...

Thsi gae is the bset flying game on all system( include PC) another upcoming game Top Gun(also on PS 2) and Air Force Delta Storm ( on XBOX) can't even compare to this one. graphic, sound and gameplay is great but only have 18 mission but all of they are very different unlike other flying games. And it's online capability make replay vaule as good as games like GT3. BUY it NOw you won't be wrong.

AMAZINGLY ACTION PACKED FLIGHT-SIM!!

Flight simulators usually are either too dull or too fake or too detailed. This game strikes a perfect balance between entertainment and realism. The unbelievably detailed graphics supply the realism, and the well-concieved controls and view modes provide the action. Every notable 3rd generation jetfighter, plus a few 4th generation like the F-22 and Su-37 are present, along with old favorites like the F-14 and F-16.
If you liked Ace Combat 2 on the PSX, you won't be able to live without this game!!

The photo realism must be seen first hand to be believed, screen shots and movie clips found around the net cannot describe half the beauty that this game is. The graphics, consistent frame rate, and responsive controls successfully creates an immersive environment of flight. There are times where I would ignore the mission objectives and fly at incredible speeds, low to the ground, amongst snow-capped mountains. One word: Bliss.

The gameplay sits somewhere between simulation and arcade. Personally it's a perfect balance. I find simulations (Jane series on PC for example) too steep of a learning curve. The massive amounts of micro-management required to fly a plane is a bit daunting, if anything, definately not 'fun'. On the other end of the spectrum, arcade fliers are too simplified with unrealistic physics, dumbed down controls, and gameplay mechanics that offers nothing but a mindless blast-a-thon. Shattered Skies is not a shoot-em-up. It offers an incredible sense of flight with controls that anyone can pick up after little practice.

Only drawback...18 missions seems awfully short. But short games seem to be the trend with these next-gen console games . The missions, however are varied enough, and since you can revisit them with any of the 21 air crafts (each with a distinct style of flight), the replay value can be arguably good.

Bottom line - finally, PS2 games are starting to show off the system's capabilities. AC4: Shattered Skies is no exeption, even the controls take excellent advantage of the analogue buttons. Dog fighting, bombing missions, avoiding anti-aircraft gun fire, shaking off missle locks, etc. etc. etc. everything you'd expect and want in a title like this, you will find. And all of this is presented in a style that is polished and, for a lack of a better term, very slick. If anything, for the genre of the game, it is Fun. Blissful and Gleeful in immersive flight.

GET this game.

This is my first AC game, and I'm glad it is. Simply put, this game rocks. Graphics, controls, selection, EVERYTHING is top-notch. The story is remarkably good too!

In short, GET THIS GAME NOW. You won't regret it.

because your hands are gonna be sweatin'....Im an adult gamer who has been playing military flight sims for 15 years...and Im telling you this game is a knockout! This game strikes a really good balance between simulation and action....and is perfectly satisfying withou some of the details in realistic sims like long distance navigation, ECM's and flares, and raising and lowering landing gear and flaps, etc...and you know what? My hands never sweat like this before! Let there be no misunderstanding, this game WILL absorb you and you WILL forget that you are sitting on your couch (that is, if your TV is big enough). And how could I not mention the graphic and audio detail of everything in this game.....it is simply f'in awesonme. You name it, scenery, terrain, targets, weather, aircraft, water, ships, jet engines, explosions, cockpit and 3rd person views, radio transmissions...all impecable. Combine this with ultra smooth frame rate and a 32" TV, and Ill take it over any PC game out there.

My only significant criticism of this game is the time limit for missions...its the only thing that reminds you that you are playing a video game while you are flying. I could also do without the cartoon story of some boy Im supposed to feel sorry for...forget about it, its a f'in cartoon! Its like they were trying not alienate all the little kiddies out there, but make no mistake, this is a pretty grown-up game in-flight. Personally I would like to see future versions of this game trend MORE toward the realism/simulation side and add some of the aspects I mentioned before or at least make them options, because this IS an AWESOME platform.

The fictional land of Eugea or whatever its called, well, it might as well be Afganistan (youll will be surprised at the likeness). Stars and Stripes FOREVER!!

Very realistic, in-depth game!!

Out of all the four titles this one ranks up there with ace combat 2. (I wasn't too fond of ace combat 3, and air combat was in itself just a starting point for Namco) Where to begin... I guess I'll start with the bad... I was used to using the D-pad to control the aircraft, but I had to get used to using the analog stick. (the good news is that it did not take long at all to get the hang of it) The next somewhat bad thing is the fact that you cannot pinpoint what exactly are your targets in the briefing room, only take a brief look at how they're grouped together (I guess the answer for that problem is to pay attention to the briefing itself) The last bad thing is the mission count... not nearly enough. I picked up the copy just yesterday (10/24) and I'm finished with it today (in normal mode, I guess next step is the hard mode)
Now the goodies... visually it's just about the best non pc "flight combat sim" i've seen (it can probably hang with the pc sims, except the number of options is greatly diminished) It handles well, it's fairly easy to get used to the kind of plane you're flying. The storyline is actually compelling (although it could've taken somewhat of a better route at the end) the ability to refuel/rearm works wonders too, and you can use that to your advantage. There's more landing sequences which I greatly appreciate. The 2 player versus mode is quite entertaining... there's probably more gizmos in the game, perhaps I haven't unlocked them yet. (all I got from finishing the game is the free mission and trial mission options) Overall a great game, definitely worth my money, now if there were only a second disk... :)

I finished this game in 2 days , it has about 19 missions . Honestly this game is quite short and really annoying me becasue I want to play more ! Graphics are marvellous ! , you can see your plane in 360'as well as replay movie . The sounds and songs in the game really make this game goes right to the top rank for PS2 games. If you love planes THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.
Good hunting.

If you are into fighter aircraft, this game is a must have. It is much like the other Ace Combat games (which is a good thing), but the graphics are AWESOME!!! The backgrounds finally look real, and the fighters look great. There is even an inside-the-cockpit view, which is different for each fighter! The radio traffic is more varied, and more phrases are used than ever before. In addition, the in-game music is even good. Special effects like missle streams and heat exaust add to the overall visual excellence. The awesome graphics, sound, and gameplay make this as close to the real thing as possible. The missions are even logical and realistic. I can think of no drawbacks to this game. It is solid in every way.
