Worst Game Ever- VERY Unrealistic

Imagine if you will, a sherman tank, and a tiger. Now in realistic conditions the sherman wouldn't be able to jack to the tiger, it would take more shots from a sherman, compared to the tigers 1. But no, in battlefield 1942, it takes two shots from a sherman to destroy the tiger, and two shots from the tiger to destroy the sherman. Now explain this, how can a sniper rifle, be so accurate at 1000+ yrds? Without an arc at all? Pin point accuracy. Best of all, that accuracy requires a single shot to the head for instant kill, a shot the the chest will not mark an instant kill, takes two to kill a person. Planes, oh my god. It takes over 5 clips with a colt 45 to kill a plane, doesn't matter what, everything is the same plane, tank, ship just reskinned.. Carriers are a joke. It takes 6 torpedoes to take down an enterprise class carrier. It takes over 8 bombs to sink it.. This game for those of you who are WW2 Enthusiests, WILL NOT ENJOY THIS GAME FOR IT'S REALISM. You will probbaly die laughing from the lack of realism in combat, a thompson is so accurate from distance you can use it as a sniper rifle, granted it does hardly any damage. It will still work if you nail them in the head. Just once.. this game is so horrible, I felt that I should sue EA for making such a bad game. That's just my two cents..

To play this game, you "MUST HAVE" NVIDIA GeForce4, GeForce3, GeForce2, GeForce256, ATI Randeon 8500, Randeon 7500, Radeon, Matrox Pathelia. If you don't, don't try!

Wouldn't run

I bought this game some days ago because no one would shut up about it in school. Everything went fine: The installation, the video options, no problems of any kind.

Until I tried to play multiplayer. The first time I got an "invalid version" problem. I tried everything but I couldn't get it to work.

I pressed the "Update" button on the autorun menu but it took me to the EA main site. I don't know how to procced from there. There are way too many "Pay money" "Register" "Download demo of other games" ads that I got lost. There is not even a "Downloads" section.

There are no phone numbers or email adresses on the manual or CD case. The single player mode of Battlefield 1942 is a complete joke so the game could only decorate my desk.

You know what I did? I traded it for Heroes III (A game older than me! No one else wanted this game, probably for the same problems I had) in school some hours ago. And you know what, I didn't need to press an update button or even got to websites to play it, and what's more important, the single player was fun!

Money down the tubes!!!

Running: P4 @ 2.2 with a Geforce 4 TI4600. 512 RAM

Net connection: AT&T Broadband

I got a copy of BF 1942 thinking that "WOW another FPS from EA...GREAT!!!" After all they published the Medal of Honor hits......boy was I disappointed.

First of all I had to install a patch... on the first day of purchase!

Then I learned that the developers of the Medal of Honor game had nothing to do with this game. The people who developed this game, DICE or Digitial Illusions, has never even programmed a successful game. DICE's only game that resembled a hit was a game called "Codename Eagle", which I and I believe majorities of other gamers have never even heard of.

Connectivity or should I say a lack of, for me, kills this game. The ping was terrible even when I was playing on a local server. "Connection failure" warning appears in game when I'm connected and playing on-line.

I primary buy FPS to enjoy fragging people over the net....but the net stability is so BAD I wish that I had waited for PC Gamer or Computer Gaming Monthly to review this game.....it would have saved me ....

The one star is the lowest I could go, but a "0" would be appropriate. As an e-mail from Tech Help told me after I found all the opening control screens were filled with rectangular blocks rather than text, the game is "very demanding" (i.e., it was poorly developed), and will support only AT/Radeon, NVIDIA GEForce, and Matrox Parhela video cards. Don't waste your money if you haven't got one of these cards.

Battlefield FLOP!!

Bought the game the day it was released with eager anticipation given all the hipe. I'm a loyal fan of Meddle of Honor so I thought I couldn't go wrong given EA was behind the development. Big dissapoinment! Gameplay lagged, game detail looked rushed and unpolished, there was no sense of nostalgia that the Meddle of Honor series engendered and the campaigns were poorley conceived and developed.

My advice: save your money and wait for the Meddle of Honor expansion due out in November. Battlefield 1942 is a big flop!!

I just bought BF 1942 after weeks of waiting and searching local stores. I'm VERY disappointed in the [$$$]that I WASTED on this game. Yes, it was very exciting for the first hour and a half, but after that...I've never played a more monotonous game. Basically, the entire goal of the game is to hold your 'outpost' or take the enemy's. Unfortunately, it's impossible to actually hold an outpost after you've taken it because you only have a couple other guys. What ends up happening is you go to defend/take another outpost, but in your absence (because you're the only guy in the area), an enemy guy (ONLY ONE) will 'sneak in' and take it from you. The mission is over when the enemy's "ticket count" reaches zero. The only ways to decrease the enemy's ticket count is by killing an enemy (very hard to do this the required ~100 times to win because there's only one or two enemies in sight at anytime and it takes a few minutes to even SEE another player) or capture all of the outlook posts. It's a very time-consuming and MONOTONOUS game! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. It's worth playing it on a friend's computer or something, but after an hour or so...you'll have had all that you can take.
I'm very disappointed I wasted the money on this game...potential buyers be wary!

I'm Sorry, But I'm Very Disappointed In This Game!

I was really looking forward to buying and playing Battlefield 1942. I had heard so much hype about it. You know what? You need a super computer to play this game. Now don't tell me to go buy a newer computer because I already have a new computer. I have a Dell 1.7GHz with 256MB RAM and a 32MB Nvidia Geforce 4 Graphics Card. No matter what setting I put this game on, this game lags and movement of everything is very slow. I ended up taking the game back to the store and putting in a preorder for the expansion pack to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, which comes out next month. I never had any trouble at all with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and it ran as smooth as silk on my computer. Electronic Arts (EA) has published both Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and I can't believe they would let Battlefield 1942 be published with all of the bugs in it. This game needs alot of work and alot of patches to be able to work right. I'm very disappointed that EA released this game so early with so many bugs.

what were they thinking???????
