Sorry had to give it a one star to balance out the fun to life draining ratio. I wouldn't reccommend eq, your just getting yourself into something that you will spend years trying to get your self out of. If your lucky like me maybe you will actually get bored of it as I did. This game does get boring fast, it's just a very long level up game, that's all it is, level up. No story, overrated items, impossible challenges and lot's of things will anger you off becaus yes this is a massive online multi game. If you already have eq , i reccomend not starting the new race to lvl up to 60, your just sucking more life out of yourself. I will probably buy it, walk around see the new items then never play till the next expansion. This game isn't really fun, it's addicting because things are always JUST out of your reach and you keep thinking you can accomplish the next step. The truth is, there are never ending steps so the game is really never ending which makes it a vicious cycle. Whenever i bad mouth this game people on eq get mad, why defend something that takes your life and money. This game IS a real role playing game because you literally become it, which is bad. If you play eq I hope you come to realize this soon or you are forever doomed to become a prisoner of eq. So far I have only found one cure to defeating the addiction of eq: -Deleting your character-

The description for Shadows of Luclin specifies "Platform: Windows 95 / 98" It also indicates a release date of December 4, 2001. Upon checking with Verant regarding Windows XP, the reply was short and to the point: Windows XP is not supported.

I dont like paying 10 dollars a mounth for a game, but once you start playing it you get addicted. As what i read from revews on this game it will probably be even more addictive than ever. So just dont buy it. You could buy a lot more cool games whith the money. Like get games that you have big guns with free multi player you can enjoy them without haveing to pay 10 dollars a mounth. Pluse there are a bunch of new multi player games coming out that are going to be a lot funnier than EQ.

I find it funny how so many people can rate this expansion and it hasn't even been released yet. Here it is 6 months away and people are writing reviews on it giving it 5 stars.

Everquest is the biggest waste of time you could spend on any game. Literally... you will be sitting doing nothing 90% of the time. Not to mention that Verant has the worst customer service/support of any game company I have ever come across.

Whatever happened to the good business saying of "the customer is always right"... Well in Verants opinion "the customer is always wrong".

eq is dead

come on....

Anarchy online, Shadowbane, Dark ages of camelot, Final fantasy 11

etc.. etc..

Eq had it's run... but it's old, and showing it.

now EQ2... there's an idea.

When I first got this game I was blown away by the graphics and the sound. Dont buy this game unless you like forking out a ton of money to upgrade.
I will list the pros and cons for this game.
Pros:
You only spend about 33 cents to play this game everyday.
You can play this game almost non-stop, except on patch day.
You will not have a craving to play any other games
You wont have to worry about whats on your 700 channels of cable.
You can tell 80,000 people about your borring...life, over and over and over again.

cons:
You will not be able to tell what day it is.
You will most likely lose someone close to you.
You will gain a ton of weight from sitting on your [butt] all day and night.
You will not be able to have a normal conversation with anyone without bringing up everquest.
You will build up a body smell that would make 12th century pesants vomit.
You may think this is funny but it is a compulsive disorder, it is a diease, a social diease that you will have a hard time beating.

OK I love the graphics in this expansion and stuff like that but just to tell you the truth this expansion LAGS on a 2.2Ghz 1Gb RAM Geforce 4 Ti 4600 with 128 megs, and this is no joke. I would recommend to get thsi expansion only for the bazaar feature because it is very convinient.

Worst customer service EVER!

Just wanted to add a note that Sony / Verant does not care about their customers. For the last year they have had multiple incompatibilies with Windows 2000 which was shown as a supported OS on the last addon for Everquest. They will not even acknowledge the problem much less fix it. I have gotten the run around, even bought new hardware on their recommendation (they were quick to blame hardware manufacturers before their own software). None of which resolved the problem.

There is a thread on their forum at www.everquest.com which shows a thread of 50+ posts of people having the same problems with Windows 2000, and the ignore it, and close the thread.

Its too bad, the game is great, but your product is only as good your people who support it.

I concur with the hundreds of thousands

I cannot in good conciounce give this expansion to the terribly successfull MMORPG Everquest. The reason being, its addicting as any game in the history of games. You can very easily and without notice ruin your young adult/adult life playing this game. You can meet and make good friends with many interesting people while playing this game; which was the most alluring part of the game for me, while I played through the world the original and following expansions opened up for me. However, when you use the command that tells you how long you have played the character you have dumped the majority of your time into over the last year, you can be met with a rather shocking suprise. You have just blown over 150 days (yes, thats 24 HOURS multiplied by 150) playing a computer game, that really only rendered temporary satisfaction. Sure the friends you made, may last longer than your final exit from the world of Norrath, but the over-all time numeration is justly depressing. Take it from a veteran, your time can be speant in much more productive and important means than this. Friends can be made, school work can be done, women/men (whatever) can be interacted with, or relationships can be maintained. These uses of free time have much more lasting and favorable consequences.

Wait until bugs are ironed out!!!

This latest expansion to EQ is nothing but trouble. Go check out the Everquest message boards (...)

The game has been down for two days now awaiting fixes for this newest expansion. Not to mention in order to SEE any of this expansion Sony suggests you have 512MB RAM and a 64MB Video card, but only a select few video cards will work!

Customer service is non-existant, spend your money on something else.
