Not The Best of the Final Fantasy Games

I consider this game to be the worst of all the Final Fantasy games. They have replaced the Aeon command with the "Change Dress" command. I ask you, would you change clothes in the middle of a battle? I don't think so. For goodness sake, choose your job before a battle and stick with it. If it turns out to be the wrong job for the battle, oh well. Live and learn! Being able to change jobs is great, but not in the MIDDLE of a battle! And I have to add, as these games evolve I swear they put less and less clothing on the female characters! What is it with this? Apparently the game makers do not care to attract a female gamer audience. I love fighting action games, but let's be real guys. This particular game is just too much. Aesthetics do count, no matter what anyone else says.

Many of the characters, especially the bad guys, are annoying and trite. Yes, they have a lot of female characters, but look how they act, fight, and dress - lame and sterotypical. Sorry guys, but this definitely takes away from the enjoyment of the game, especially for female gamers.

Okay, maybe they put voices in this game, but believe me, it's not worth it to buy the game just to get the added feature of voices. I thought games were supposed to get better not worse. I'm sure there are many who will enjoy this game, if they can put up with its downfalls, but personally I'll stick with the other FF versions - The storylines, character interaction, game play, and music are much better.

A dash of FFX , and a bit of Barney.......

Alright. I know ya'll have been recieveing mixed reviews about this game, so let me tell u str8 forward. This game is fine as a sequel, but it wouldn't of made it on its own. The graphics are great, and the batlle system has been upgraded from the original FFX. 1 MAJOR con is that 75 percent of the game consist of sidequest. That SUCKS because half of those are retarded missions like passing out balloons to people. Naw, that ain't fun. Not very fun at all. Your party consist of only three characters, and they're all females. Now, I'm all for female heroes in a game. But don't expect Lara Croft or Jill from Resident Evil. Oh no. These are GIRLS, not WOMEN !! Half the time they act like children......no honestly...they do. The game is fun, but let me warn u now. If u're a male, this game is GUARANTEED 2 insult your manhood sooner or later. Don't belive me? See for yourself. They dance and sing alot. {Some o this stuff u'd have 2 see 2 belive} All and all, u can really enjoy this game if u can stomach the "care-bear" parts.

YEAH!

This game looks AWESOME! Great graphics, a cool new character, plenty of spunk, cuteness, and romance! I can't wait to get this game!
FFX is my ultimate favorite FF. In fact, FFX got me into the whole FF series. I'm SO happy they made a sequel to this one, and I think they should make sequels to other FFs too! ^^

This May be the Worst One Yet

Let me go on by saying that this maybe the worst Final Fantasy made. I'm not sure if this has to do with Square merging with another company has anything to do with it but...I mean...yuck.

This game defies the standard Final Fantasy games. First. the cast is all girls, nothing wrong with that but the game it's self introduces characters that could have been playable making the number of playable characters the usual seven, instead of the three that are played throughout the entire game.

*SPOILER*

Second, for those of you who seen the previews of the game may think you'll see something concerning a particular character from the FFX, well...don't this game is something different. The story starts off like Yuna is searching for Tidus but halfway through it just sort of ends because there is another threat to Spira that happens to look like him.

Third, what the heck is this Dressphere? Let me get this straight changing clothes gives you powers using things called garment grids. Like the grids for each character in FFX, these grids come in the dozens. One for each sort of power like Fire, Haste, Holy...etc. FFX-2 should have just stuck with a new way instead of screwing up a perfectly fine one.

Which brings me to this point. Every Final Fantasy has it's own little great but confusing story for the most part. This story comes in the most basic of ways, three factions fighting each other for their own belief structure after Sin was defeated. Yuna, living some else's memories of a man that looks like Tidus and then trying to reunite them after 1000 years. Each game is detailed to the fullest as far as plot and characters...except for this one.

The only thing that is good about this game is the soundtrack and the animation sequences...which are few and far between. Also the fact that they bring back characters of the last one is good to. Won't tell what's going on with the gang, need to leave a few surprises.

I understand that Square was doing a cost effective game using the same locations and fiends for the most part was a smart thing to do, but the lack a characters and plot line doesn't make up for it. It comes out like a futuristic Charlies Angels with Yuna as the leader of a sphere hunter group(and a pop singer?)It's like Square said ,"We don't have FFXI for the system, so we'll give you this instead." Thanks but you should have spent the time working on FFXII instead. But, yet, if they make a FFX-3, I would probably buy it and play it too. Maybe I'm making out to be worst than it is. It may not be a bad game but it's probably not going to be what you think or want it to be.

So close yet so far

There are various pros and cons with this game. Ill mainly touch the stuff that stands out to me.

Continuity. If you've played FFX a lot of the characters and monsters you may remember do not act the same way I believe they should at all. Heck don't even make sense at times (Brother, yunas COUSIN drooling all over yuna for example). Definitely a con. Dont get me started about the wardrobe either.

Replayability. Eh its ok. Nothing I would get into a major twist over. Im replaying it for the 2nd time... but its nowhere near as addictive as FFX or FF7 where I couldn't replay either game enough times.

Extras. Whilst I like minigames and side quests many seemed pretty limited and forced in this game. Lots of mini games do not make a great game.

Music. By far some of the best stuff I have listened to in a game. I cannot stress enough how moving the music is in this game.

Background story. Awesome... simply awesome. I wish the game had been better because it was a story worth telling. Watch 1000 voices in the game and you will see what I mean (for music too).

Dresspheres. Basically another version of FF Tactics with open ended char development. Ive always loved this style of play.

No aeons (summoning). Go fig after FFX. Glad they didn't cheeze it in somehow

I wanted to love this game. But I can't give it more than a good rating. Id give it a 7 out of 10 overall.

A great sequel

This is an amazing ff game. You can fully customize your characters, and this game is a LOT of fun, featuring some characters from final fantasy x. This game is slightly different than x, but is still an immensly good game. I highly reccomend this game to anyone, especially ff fans.

SideQuest: THE VIDEO GAME

Sigh... Square, WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A GAME!!! the one thing that pisses me off about this is that there are SO MANY DARN SIDEQUESTS! It took me about an hour after completing a sidequest to get back to the main story, wich isn't much of a story at all. Also, in FFX, Yuna was quiet and somewhat mysterious, and now she's a friggin pop singer! WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THAT? The battle system with the dresspheres is, to my taste, CRAP. the only good thing is the awesome cinematics. And where's Tidus? And Lulu? Sure, keep the hyperactive girl with a single-digit IQ and the weird summoner and leave out that ball-chucking guy from FFX (forgot his name) All in all, this game sucks.

Rent it first!

I've played all of the Final Fantasy games and this one was the worst. The girls are annoying and after an hour I quit playing. Luckily I rented it from the video store so I'm only out $5.99. I'd recommed renting it first and if it suits your tastes...then possibly purchasing it.

Let Me Try and Explain This

What is this game? I have no idea. Final Fantasy X was very good. This is supposed to be it's sequel??? This is hardly a sequel if even a Squaresoft game at all. What were they thinking? I feel ashamed that it has inherited the Final Fantasy name and I think it was somewhat disgraced it. Let's look at some of the "new" things. First off, people complained that FFX was too movie like and there wasn't enough choice in the sequence of events til the very end. So what they have decided to do is take out all boundaries what-so-ever and give you almost total free reign on the world. Instead of guided free reign such as most Final Fantasys, you can go pretty much wherever you want and could beat the game without having really even skimed the surface of the other playable features. From the moment you start, you are given access to a flying ship. It seems as if they didn't write enough story for the game so they simply used the worlds they had already created for FFX for you to roam around in with new minigames. Next, what's with the changing of the victory theme?? The famous victory theme from almost the beginning of Final Fantasys has been changed for the sake of THIS game? How could Nobuo Uematsu let them do that? You can really tell who this game was aimed at. I mean, no secret characters, and you change your abilities by changing clothes. Final Fantasy fans, please raise your hand if this appeals to you? I can't say it wasn't entertaining somewhat (thus the one star) but mostly that was from laughing AT it. When you look at how other Final Fantasies evolve story wise, there are always major events that happen that change your story or plot is a big way towards the middle of the game. Not here. The only big things that happen are at the end. The old lesson with movies applies here as well. Sequels aren't usually as good as the originals. Here it is so to a much greater degree. FFX kicks the pants of this game, no contest. For those who liked FFX, this isn't FFX and doesn't compare at all.

THIS WILL BE EXCELLENT

I know that for a fact if it is anything like FFX then it will be one of the best games ever. I loved FFX and I was addicted forever. I have seen pictures of the new characters and have heard about the system that they are bringing back, and it sounds killer! This game (FFX-2) will be revolutionizing for the Final Fantasy games and PS2. I can not wait! :)

The new system I have read has a choose your own job kinda thing, just like FFV. (ie. You can have Auron be the white mage, instead of being the in your face get out of my way guy.)

And personally I don't like Yuna being a weak little girl, that is Rikku's job!
