MK Deception is probably better

BECAUSE I ADORE THIS ON IT'S OWN!! It's extremely gory and the graphics are so realistic that it's no wonder they made Deception. I can't wait to play that!!! i DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH BETTER THAT BLOOD CAN BE BECAUSE I LOVE THIS GAME...and I might like Deception even more! I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY IT! It's already out, but I just need to get it!

One of The Greats

This game is one of my personal favorites. Contains old charactors such as Sonya, Johnny Cage, and Raiden, as well as some new ones. The characters look beautiful and beleveable.you can play as the two main bad guys, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, right from the beginning, and you still have a hard boss. The fatalities look very cool this time. The story line is Quan Chi escaped from the Netherrealm, with the help of Drahmin, into Outworld. He and Shang Tsung form an alliance to resurrect the lost mythological Army of the Dragon King. Raiden then enlists the help of Earthrealms mightiest heros.

There are some baad points. For one, Sub Zero looks totally horrible. It also takes very long to get to Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. Also, If you want to unlock the secret charactors, you need to get over 3000 koins for 1 charactor, except for Frost who only costs about 2-300 koins. Some Koffins are empty. The Fatalities are very hard to do. Other than that it is awsome. This is the only reason it's a 4 star instead of 5 star game.

Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Should Be Reincarnated

This version of Mortal Kombat is truly disheartening. I bought this game and have played it MAYBE 10 times since I have had it in a year. The graphics and audio are awesome. The story line is trash, and the movements are slightly choppy. I wish this game would have lived up to the previous MK's.

A great game, but....

This game is one of the best fighting games I have ever played, however many of you may not feel the same way. DO NOT buy this game expecting it to be very similar to the previous Mortal Kombat games. As most of you know, the plot of Mortal Kombat is to save Earthrealm from invaders from Outworld. This time, Shang Sung and Quan Chi have formed an alliance that could doom all the realms. As Raiden watches from his seat as Elder God (remember his ending in MK4?), he becomes increasingly disturbed at the Elder Gods lack of interest in this dire situation. He renounces his title and once again becomes the god of thunder. He then rallies Earth's finest warriors in hopes that they will defeat the two sorcerers before their evil plot is complete.
The only other thing connecting this game to the MK series is the characters (plenty of old favorites as well as some new characters). Other than that, this game is almost a completely new game. First, as MK veterans will recognize, the X, O, Triangle, and Square buttons no longer function as low punch, low kick, high kick, and low punch. This is due to the fact that each character has 3 unique fighting styles. These styles were recreated as accurately as possible, causing the hp lp system to be useless. Most of your fighting is now based on the correct performance of combos (all of which are listed in game and can be accessed through the pause menu). Next, most of those familiar special attacks that you know have been removed. each character has between 2-4 special attacks only, but most of the traditional moves stayed (ex: Sub-Zero's freeze blast). The graphics in MK:DA are very impressive, only experiencing slowdown when multiple intricate combos are performed at the same time. I was dissappointed with the fatalities, however, as each character only has one and the animation on all of them could have been done much better (I mean c'mon. You can hardly tell the difference between a brain and a heart or kidney). Plus, many of the MK vets favorites aren't there anymore (I can't believe scorpion doesn't do his traditional "flamethrower" fatality). The amount of blood has increased dramatically, as blood now stays on the ground during the battle for added gore. Each character's third weapon style is a weapon, ranging from swords and daggers to steel fans and nunchaku. Although you can no longer throw your weapon at your enemies, many weapons can be used to impale them so they continually lose blood during the match. There are plenty of unlockable features ranging from comic strips and concept art to new battlegrounds and extra characters. There is also now a training mode that will help you immensely when trying to learn to use many of the characters. One addition I think every gamer will enjoy is the return of the "Test Your Might" mini game.
This game definately earns it's mature rating by it's accurate use of many fighting techniques as well as all the blood, gore, and violence that Mortal Kombat is famous for. While it may seem like the revamped fighting style won't be as fun as the previous MK games, I found it to be a good change. I would reccommend this game for MK vets who are willing to try something new (rent it first if you have to) as well as newcomers to the genre.

NOTE: I have not played the GCN or X-BOX versions of this game. The only information I have on the GCN version is that the moves and combos can be very difficult to pull off with the standard GCN controller due to a poorly designed directional pad.

Excellent game.

I wrote this review because I got tired of people giving this game a bad review. Before I start to describe the game, the guy who said that the novice level is "sooo hard" and how Moloch is "sooo hard"...you suck. If you practice it will happen. And the simpilest way to beat Moloch is to pick Kano or the Hsu guy and keep hitting the guy with the square button and block real quick or follow it with that blade combo until he blocks. And that works on all the difficulty levels. Now to the game, the only bad thing about the game is the fatalities. All the characters had one fatality and some of them were the same. But the good stuff is that this game is bloodier than the previous ones. This time the blood actually stays on the floor. It is required to have a memory card to play this game if you want to access the hidden characters. A new thing they have is a "Krypt" which has hundreds or it felt like hundreds of koffins that have mainly extra things like koins, videos, pictures, arenas, and characters. Obviously the most expensive koffins have the characters and arenas. You have to make a profile to earn koins which you can get by fighting in the tournament, the krypt, and the training mission. Overall the game is a good buy. For everybody saying it's not staying to the orginal, get a life. Times are changing and the same thing over and over again is boring. So enjoy the game.

I see now

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (or MK5 whatever you choose) is a good game for the PS2/Xbox. I was suprised that there have been newer features made into the game that were not in the other ones. The Crypt is one of them, and quite possibly the best one that they've added. It gives you a chance to unlock hidden characters, see video clips (my fav was the Cooking with Scorpion), art work, bio's, alt. costumes, and empty coffins that were 2000 coins just to piss you off. Another great feature is the journey, which tought you how to use combos even tough some of them were near impossible to do.

Now I give this 4 stars, because there could have been more charaters that we could have been able to choose. And there could have been a code to unlock Molauch (the moster with that big rock). Also they could have not made some of the combos almost impossible to do if you are on that journey. Oveall, a good job for another Mortal Kombat game. Also get MK: Deception. I haven't played Shalon Monks yet. But when I do, I'll write one for that game too.

The best game on the market

This game is really cool and has really good graphics.

They really didn't add to many new characters but what they did was make the old characters a whole lot better.

I really think that they could've made the game better though if they wouldn't have taken out some fighters old moves. Like when Raiden would fly at you and push you back with electricity. Also like when Cyrax would do that web thing. I also think that the fatalities are really cool except for Quan Chi's fatality where all he does is streatch there neck and he would let them fall to the floor. I also thought that Sub - Zero's would've had something to do with ice.but it doesn't.

But overall I still give it 5 stars because to me its the best game out there
