The worst MMORPG ever!

I thought the game was kind of interesting for the first half hour. After the first 8 hours of play you actually get to attack some real enemies, but you're stopped by someone with the name angellovekiss killing everything in sight.
rang rang you go ok, says the player. Rang means go away, rudely in Mandarin Chinese. There are more chinese money farmers and ebay sellers in the game than actual players playing it.
The game managers (in game support staff) say adena (game money) selling has "zero tolerance" but also that their action to the selling "depends on the severity of the offense."
The point is, NCsoft is getting $15 a month from the Chinese adena sellers just like every other user and they wouldn't want to alienate half their customers by enforcing their rules. A few other things: Korea's server only allows Korean players. Japan's server only allow Japanese players. Taiwan's server only allows Taiwanese players. North American server allows everyone, including the Chines that were banned from all other servers. Oh, and look up what "cao ni ma" means. No swearing allowed says the GMs.
Stay away from this one guys. NCsoft is milking the legit players and the money sellers.

Disappointed

When I got into Beta, I was thrilled. However, once I started to actually play the game, I was very disappointed.

Good Points:
If you enjoy PVP and just killing monsters or other players then you will most likely enjoy the game.
The game has beautiful graphics and a wonderful soundtrack.

Bad Points:
Very few quests available
Nothing really to do except to go out and level your character by killing things.
No tradeskills available except to dwarves.
No restrictions on Player Killing (PK). Any person can kill anyone else, regardless of the difference in levels of the two players.
Very limited character creation options such as only 2 different faces or hair color to choose from. For example, elves could choose light blond or yellow blond for their hair color.

I am hoping that some of these things improve before the game is release; however, considering that it has already been released overseas, I doubt there will be many changes to come. Hence, why I would not recommend the game unless you enjoy just killing things.

Not worth your time

I have played Shadowbane, Lineage2 and World of Warcraft in Beta. Lineage 2 just isn't fun. While it has nice graphics, it's just too slow and too boring. Shadowbane has bad graphics and leveling is a grind but PvP is great. World of Warcraft has fantastic graphics and a very interesting world. PvP is not free for all but faction based so I don't have an oppinion yet.

Sever is unstable, mobs disappear all the time

The game is OK. But the server is unstable and mob disapears frequently.

Lackluster beyond the eye candy

if graphics are all you are looking for in a mmog, here it is. but in all honesty, L2 could have been a very good game. i have played since Closed Beta, and i am not the whiny kids that cry in the public channels. L2 is lacking alot of basic features most games tend to have, character creation is either one or two skins to choose from, not very original. also even to defend yourself from being PKD, you WILL turn purple, there by being fair game for all others to attack with no loss to them selves, other than turning purple, further more to heal a PK, or a mob someone is fighting yields no consequence, no purple or anything. Does this sound fair to you? each death is a 10% loss of xp, plus a chance to drop a item, as was stated elsewhere, leveling is very hard, too hard for me, i quit caring about levels a few days ago, the rewards seem few and far between. i hate being so negative in a review of anything, but this game was not up to north american standards of what is the "Norm" of mmogs or gaming. so my advice is this, if you are a grief player, or easily amused by pretty graphics, buy this game, otherwise, go to a more mature, rp friendly mmog.

Horrible

This game is not great. Hardly any customization, two classes to begin with. Final Fantasy XI made this same mistake. Nobody wants to have to wait that long to get more classes. The interface is absolutely abysmal. Walking is a chore, and you'll be doing a lot of it. The camera is pathetic at best, non-existant at worst. Seriously. Do not play this game.

Don't waste your money

I just canceled my NCSoft accounts for both City of Heros and Lineage II.

Lineage II is nothing more then a treadmill. You like to grind? You'll love this game. You want content, variety, social interaction (PKing not included) and/or enjoyment? STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME!!

First 20 levels can be done in about 30 hours game play max, I would say. While doing this have something on TV you want to watch because you are gonna be bored. After that you get to chose your profession. then do it all again for 20 more levels. Excitement comes from PKers and Bots. You have to take care of these yourself cause the GMs have no clue at all.
The Pkers have actually been known to use bots to hit you then you swing back and turn pink, then they kill you with no reprocusions to their karma. They can come into town and laugh at you after they killed you cause you were pink when they killed you. Or they set up in PK packs, like wolves, and hunt lowbies.
The Bots are about 1 in every 4 characters you will see in the average server. Tweaked out and on autopilot they kill everything in range, even you if you get to close. Forget hunting in that area as it will be dead before you reach it.
All in all NCSoft needs to stick to the other side of the planet if they dont want to do ALOT more development and ... here's a thought ... GIVE CUSTOMER SUPPORT TO THE PEOPLE GIVING YOU MONEY!

Seriously folks if you are thinking of getting this game DONT!

As for City of Heros, it atleast encouraged grouping.(...)

Oh yea, one last thing. This game that is now available on the shelf and from online stores such as Amazon is not complete. If you were to compare the current status of this game to the usual standards other games follow thru development, this game is in OPEN BETA. What does that mean to you? That means you are buying an unfinished product. They are selling you something that you will have to help them fix. This is a practice that other MMOs do on a free setup so we get a finnished product for our money. Kinda like buying a converable car, only its not supposed to be a convertable car. They just havent got the roof on yet.

Player killers will make you quit.

When I started this game I was very optimistic. The controls took time to get used to, but after 10+ hours I grew to like the ease of casting spells. You start this game off on a little place called Talking Island. A good starting point for all levels under 10, with small quests and minimal challenge. The problem with it is that in Lineage II, you have the option to kill other players. Many high levels hang out at Talking Island just to kill all the low levels. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, but when you die in Lineage II, you lose a considerable amount of experience. So you're leveling for 1 hour to gain 1/2 a level and a guy comes along and kills you for no reason, and you lose 7% of yer experience and an item you were carrying. WTF! I wasted at least 20 hours of re-leveling just because of the mass amount of player killers. Then after you finally get experienced enough to defend yourself, it's becomes a grind to level past 20 and the game gets quite boring. Not to mention all the adena(money) exploits this game offers. Seems the only way to buy good weapons/equipment in this game is through various shady websites. You definately wont find adena leveling as you'll need to spend that money just getting by with spells and travel. If you want to waste your life and not get any rewards, go ahead and buy this game. But if you want the element of fun in a game, I would suggest another title.

What a waste of code only zeroes no ones.

I have tryed it and then tryed it again. Like in a bad dream I kept coming back to see that may be I missed something. May be this game is good and I just need to stick longer to get it....
Nope .... It is the same garbage as it was when I first started it.
Mindles grind to the next level. Absurd PVP. Every character looks exactly like you. Pathing is bugged. Point and click movement is bad. No content no real economy.
You will hate this push over in one week. If you have to try it buy it used or wait till they have 30 day free trial.Which in my estimation is going to happen very soon.
In short :Avoid it.

Serial number already in use

I bought this game with high hopes, regardless of the numerous poor reviews. However upon getting my SEALED box and installing the game, NCSoft says my serial number had already been used. There was no recourse here as I did not have my store receipt, a fax machine, photo copier, and so on. Basically they dont care and wont do anything to help me (after several days of email only support). There seems to have been problems with this and other NCSoft games related to serial numbers already being in use (did web search after I got burned).
