This game deserves more than just 5 stars!!!This game is by far THE BEST game I have EVER played!Final Fantasy 7's storyline is wonderful! This is the first game I had for Playstation and I'm still waiting for another game to AT LEAST equal it's magnificence. The system of battling is the best i've seen. This game introduced the Limit Break very well to me.Final Fantasy 7,is the first game to really bring reality into it.From power-hungry Companies to the struggle of life living in the slums. The last thing I have to say is that:If your a fan of the Final Fantasy series and you haven't played this game, then you have no IDEA what you are missing!Play just 10 min. of it and you'll find that you've been sucked into a world of fantasy...and magic...beyond your wildest dreams....

This game is the gretaes...and you will find if you are a bit behind in your final fantasy series that this game is outrageously expensive here!! here's a hint for all of you....go to your local k-mart, there they'll have reprint of psone classic version of it for $14.99 that you can play on your playstaion 2, i dont know about all of you, but thats a heck of a lot cheeper than what they are selling it here and its brand new. Save your money....we all know its a great game...so im not going to waste your time with the details...i just trying to save you money...dont buy here and settle for and expensive used or new version unless its a REALLY great deal...go to k-mart...thats where i got mine.

The only game that is better for PC or any system is its newer version which has better graphics. I would recomend either game but I especially like FF7. The stortline is much more clear. The only rag is that the ending movie in FF7 doesnt contain the optional charecters(Yuffie and Vincent)The plot is the main charecter Cloud Strife is haunted by his past by another SOLDIER member Sephiroth. and the 9 charecters(Cloud, Barrett,Tifa, Aeris,Red XIII aka Naniki, Cait Sith, Yuffie, Vincent, and Cid) try and defeat. Thereare many fun mini games and Exclusive American monsters, also the game has GOLD chocoboo's. I would recomend this game to any one age 11 and older.

Can we all say, "awesome"? This game is by FAR the best game I have ever played and probably ever will. The beautifully computer-rendered graphics are incredible and bring you more into the world of the game. The story is the greatest ever done by SquareSoft. The characters with their own histories and stories add even more to the incredible depth that is already there. This game really deserves 7 stars!

Review for those who want the scoop.

Alright, Final Fantasy 7. What a game, but why? Well first of all, it is in one of the oldest RPG families around. FF's have been with us for what seems like forever, and has given people a lot of time to get hooked on the wonderful stories and original gameplay. But this review is on the 7th not those others so here's the facts:

It's a ropleplaying game (RPG) And so being is very story driven. Picture this, you are in a world both very different and very similar to our own. The world is basically ruled by a huge company (Shinra) which gets it's kicks from draining the earth of it's life-force, and using that energy to power, well everything (here money=kicks). Around you are bizzare contraptions that are mechanical in nature, but run on mystical energy, giving the game a kind of mix of sci-fi and fantasy.

You start as Cloud, and elite fighter belonging to SOLDIER (a special forces unit of the Shinra company) turned butt-kicking, huge sword weilding, mercenary, who really only cares about getting a buck or two to keep food on the table.

Enter AVALANCHE a sort of mis-guided Greenpeace (in this context that is a VERY loose analogy) that is using terrorist methods to stop Shinra from killing the earth. You need money, they need to blow things up, so hey, your hired. And so it starts, but let me tell you the plot almost immediately starts taking some pretty wild turns, making it one of the most immersive games I've ever played.

Yeah, it's classified as an RPG, but there honestly is so much more. I'm sure you've heard that "rushing" through it you get 30 hours of gameplay. That is totally plot, with a little leveling in between, but there is just SO much stuff to do the only reason you would want to rush through like that is if you are making a walkthrough or something for the game. You get to participate in tons of little side games that really are games in themselves. I remember spending literally HOURS just trying to get the best Chocobo so I could win the racing game. The graphics are just amazing. Really stunning. The cutscenes fit perfectly into the plot, with almost no loading times, and when it ends, you are right where it left you. And, perhaps best of all, ever get to the end of a game for an anticlimatic sequence? Feel cheated by the company for not giving the end some of the magic the rest of the game had? Well, I take back what I said about only rushing through the game for one thing, you'll want to see the end of this one over and over. In the end a beatiful game, in story, graphics, character development, and pure fun this will have you hooked the moment you go bomb your first Shinra building. Perhaps the one thing I could complain about is the music, they could have done better than midi, but hey, I guess its sort of nostalgic to all the other older FFs. Good luck, and may the Mako energy be with you.

The Best of the Franchise - That Says A LOT

Final Fantasy VII was the sort of "catch up" version of the famed Final Fantasy series. That is, Japan had released (obviously) six titles prior to this one, however, in America, only three titles had been available to us. We went straight from "FF3" to FF7! (America did not get FFs 2, 3, or 5. Here, FF4 was named "FF2," and FF6 was named "FF3." I was there from the beginning.)

Above all else, FF7 provides a fully 3-dimensional role-playing game in the classic sense (a genre almost totally defined by the Final Fantasy series), and it made a doozy. In my opinion, this is the best title in the entire franchise, and that is saying something! The Final Fantasy series is by far the greatest RPG franchise ever known, even when SquareSoft routinely majorly alters each game's concepts and gameplay. They make the best of the best, and FF7 is the "best of the best of the best." (I hold it better than ALL subsequent titles to date, as well.)

The Platinum Edition of the game provides all the nostalgia a true fan could ever want. But let's review the game itself...

First off, if you haven't played any Final Fantasy title before, the main appreciation you will get from FF7 is the ease of play. You can pick up a controller and play - the hardest part of the game is not the controls, it is the quest(s) within the game itself.

Second, if you are familiar with the Final Fantasy series or role-playing games (RPGs) in general, then your appreciation will be at the wonderful details of FF7. Truly, in all aspects, the game rocks: graphics, game play, battle and magic systems, character development, storyline, and "replayability." It's like a Beatles song: it never gets old, and it still teaches us "old dogs" new things every time we experience it. (I was born in 1977, by the way.)

Next, the storyline is so immersive. What makes FF7 so versatile is that your characters interact with their surroundings so well. For example, if you are in the snow fields conducting battle, the background view is of... a snowfield! If you are on a rope bridge and engage in combat, you see your characters fighting on the rope bridge! And the non-player characters (NPCs) within the towns and who sometimes come to your aid add excellent elements, as well.

Lastly, if all that weren't good enough, there is still one more factor about Final Fantasy VII that requires you to purchase it if you haven't done so already. Simply put, side quests. That is, the story, the graphics, and the interface are all excellent on their own, but what if you find out later that there was a hidden character - whose involvement is optional - that you hadn't discovered yet? Or what about a special weapon or magic piece which requires a seven-step process to attain? "Replayability," my friend, is what we call it. I also like to refer to it as "strategy guide required" gaming. I am the type of player that will risk it all to simply see what is inside every single treasure chest out there. I also don't mind being given the cheats, tips, or hints if that would mean I could explore and find EVERYTHING.

So don't worry, Final Fantasy VII for the PC is a smart choice - and is more cost effective than getting it for your Playstation. It will appeal to every creative fiber in your body (making you dream about it at night and wondering how you can make your own similar game - for your day dreams). The game is great for those who have or have not played it before. It's a must-buy, in my opinion.

An awesome game!

Well, I would like to congradulate Squaresoft on a successfull job. This game rocks! Great graphics, nice story line and really cool battle system. A very wide gap between the SNES Final Fantasy III... Squaresoft has a problem... The moment one of their games becomes a success, they make a sequel. The sequel usually sucks. FF8 has good graphics, but the storyline is very lame.

First off, stop reading this interview and BUY THE GAME!!! Need more convincing eh? Cheesy dialogue, yeah right! It also has great music! I actually prefer the game music sound than the same music orchestrated! The controls are easy as pie once you get used to them (five minutes time)! Well...the game has the best storyline and music EVER! Ever see the Sixth Sense? You know the suprise in that movie? Final Fantasy 7 has a minimum of like 6 of those quality suprises. This game's story makes top dollar Hollywood movies look like something that was made in a rush. This game has a great battle system, up to nine characters that you grow to love, and much more! If you play the game for 10 hours, you will want to play it for another 10! The game has built in training for novices who just don't get it. The game also has lots of mini-quests for those who want to take thier time with the game. And for the vets...you think you are too good for the game? The game has 2 monsters that take at least 20 minutes to kill, and are capable of one hit kills, a series of 1/2 kills to your party and have 1,000,000 HP!!! Don't have a Playstation? But it on the PC. Don't have either? Get one for THIS game. My recommendation, do the game the first time without a guide or help from friends. Both can spoil the game for you! If you must use them, ask the friends not to tell you ANYTHING but what you need to know. And with a guide, use it only when needed and DON'T LOOK AHEAD OF WHERE YOU ARE!!! If you play the game, you will want Square to make a movie of it. BUY THE GAME NOW!!!!!!!!! It will change your life!

If you Like RPGs Then Get this Game
