The best shoot 'em up ever!

This is the sweetest shoot 'em up ever! It has so many characters to unlock, such as "The Gingerbread Man" and "Duckman Drake". The multi-player mode is total mayhem! You can probabally tell when you first play it that the levels aren't very complex, but that's exactly why it has a map editor! If I were you I wouldn't waste my money on Unreal Tournament and get TimeSplitters instead!

The best PS2 title available!!

Anyone who doesn't LOVE this game has no business playing game consoles. The shoot-'em-up action is awesome, the graphics are great and there are so many different multi-player options that it's impossible to get bored. Plus, the story setting is so fun and there are so many different levels. The only problem I've had with the game is that it doesn't unlock the rewards when it's supposed to, which kind of (...). Overall, I'd give this game 6 stars if I could!!

I played this game at my friends house a little while back. I was gonna by this when I first got my PS2 but instead sprung for Unreal Tournament. While I liked Unreal I found Timesplitters to be an almost First Person Shooter Nirvana of sorts. The game was built to be the Mario Party of First Person Shooters [I mean actually fun to play by yourself as well as with friends]. It is designed so that it has easy to learn controls and gameplay. It comes with great multi-player support and an average single player game [for those who have a lot of time to themselves]. But, This game was designed to be a blazing fast multi-player fight-a-thon. It comes with other modes such as, hold the base, capture the flag and grab the bag. These different ways of play will keep you and your friends huddled around your tv and keep many up way past their bedtimes. great shooter overall and fun in most respects. Enjoy.

So Sweet!

I haven't bought this game yet but I have rented it many times. It has unbelievable graphics, and is very fun. The game is very fast so you need to be quick to the trigger in the game which can make the game hard at some points. Some times you can be surrounded by 4-5 enemies and you know you don't stand a chance because the fire so quickly and aim for your head. Other than that I would most certainly say this will be one of the top 5 ps2 games for years to come.

If you're a fan of sitting around with your friends, drinking, and playing first-person shooters, then Time Splitters is a welcome addition to your video game arsenal. Smooth graphics and a number of interesting levels make the simulated massacre most enjoyable. The controls are more difficult to learn than Bond or Perfect Dark, but once you've mastered them they are much more powerful. It has a number of good weapons to choose from, but it's not the best collection I've seen. For multi-player you can have a bunch of bots to fight, which can be set at any of five difficulty levels.

As for the single player mode, nothing is particularly spectacular here, except the same high quality graphics and motion. There is nothing resembling a story, and no bosses or really difficult situations. The main reason to play the single player is to unlock stuff for multi-player.

All in all a good buy, especially if you also get a six-pack.

Weak single player, great multiplayer

During the PS2 launch, good games were scarce. But along came Timesplitters and it showed some of the great graphics(at the time) that the PS2 could handle. Although the single player was ultimately forgettable, it was the multiplayer that made the game so much fun. Getting some of your buddies over or even with bots was a blast. The levels were great as well as the weapons which seemed reminiscent of Goldeneye which had some of the same people on both teams as you all know. Overall, if your looking for a great multplayer game on the PS2 or if you want to see the original Timesplitters then you should track down a copy of this game.

This game is awesome for multiplayer, but kind of [stinks] when it comes to doing the missions. Everyone keeps saying the controls are hard, but i know a pair of kindergarteners who have mastered the controls within a day of playing.

Good game.New users would like it

Time Splitters is the ultimate FPS(first person shooter) on any platform bar none. The frame rate is insanely fast compared to other console fps games and is to me the smoothest even against PC games. The graphics are stunning and so realistic that you don't get the "seasick" feeling of other fps games. Control-wise, the 2 stick dual shock is accurate and smoooooth to use once you get used to it (2-3 hours). The key reason why this is a game to own rather than rent is the replayability. There are so many diverse story levels, which open up more and more arcade levels that you have many many locations to fight in. Also, once you finish the game in easy, you get the challenge mode which has crazy fun challenges (kill 100 ducks on the dock in 5 minutes). Also, arcade mode is nuts with your friends. I played 2-3 players with no frame rate slowdown. Important to note, Timesplitters was designed specifically to PS2, and is not a port from PC. This means that it takes maximum advantage of the hardware, which is evident by the smooth movement and quick reaction to the controls. Bottom line, quite possibly the perfect FPS...until Timesplitters 2! Game on!
