Don't believe the positive reviews, they must work for THQ!

This game will win an award for this year, "the most over-rated game of the year!" It is absoultely horrible. I received it for Chrismas two weeks ago, and am ready to sell it back. Does anyone want to buy it? Heck, I will pay to ship it to you for free. That's how bad it is. I will say the graphics are pretty cool, and are a big improvement over past wrestling games, but the whole game play experience sucks.

Here is what is really bad: The season mode in horrible. I have been a few different wrestlers in a couple of different seasons, and all I do is wrestle the same three stiffs. There are never any title bouts, and in the other matches the same people wrestle week after week. Malenko and Scottly Too Hotty must have wrestled 6 weeks in a row. Second, when you want to skip through the other matches to get to yours you have to watch some stupid screen, with bad music, that shows each wrestler and their respective energy bars draining as they wrestle. How boring! So to wrestle one Raw Event, it takes 15 minutes to skip through those other matches and 5 minutes for yours. I don't have the patience. And lastly, in between every pitiful story line act, and bouts, the game has to load each individual time. THQ really blew it, they finally create a game with good graphics, but horrible game play experience. None of this even mentions the horrible controls that perform the moves for each wrestler. A monkey could do all the moves just pushing every button on the pad. So overall, save your money and don't buy it, you better off just throwing your money out the window.

More Like an Update

Smackdown 2 is more of an update than a sequel. If you have the first game, then there's really no point to getting this one. Season mode is really sucks. There is endless loading time and forces you to load cutscences that have nothing to do with you. In fact, some of the load time is longer than the movies.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great game with loads of new matches, but if you have the first one, there's really no amibition to play.

I haven't slept for weeks.

This is the kind of game that keeps you up at nights, because there is so much fun stuff to do. I love creating wrestlers, you have 1,000's of options to choose from. Then you can enter those wrestlers into wwf seasons and watch them work their way to the title. The game is not too hard and not too easy; just right for hours of entertainment. The graphics are decent, a bit on the pixled side, but not too distracting. But, man, there are so many things to do: create a pay-per-view, create a manager, create a taunt, create a stable, etc. All the characters are here, and it was fun unlocking guys like Shawn Michaels. There are 100's of things to unlock in this game: from other wrestlers, to eye colors for your create-a-wrestler category. It is definately worth your money. Buy this game.

Oh! Forgot the best part! The ring entrances rock.

SmackDown 2 "Know Your Role!" is a good wrestling game BUT dont buy it because ya'll be disappointed. The graphics are not all that good the constite waiting as you watch your favorite wrestler stare at you when you wait for the game to load.believe me its probably not worth the money to buy this game.save your money for the new smackdown game coming out for playstation 2.but if your a real hardcore fan of the wwf like me than go ahead and buy it.

Will someone please tell me why this is such a hot game?

All right, Lets be honest here, SD2 isn't that great. I mean, the glitchy graphics are horrible. I don't like the fact that I can't do moves onto weapons. Then I'm on the top of the Cell closelining Kane and he is suddenly behind me preforming a Death Drop DDT to me through the cage. It's just not that realistic. And of course then there's the wonderful time I have staring at a picture of Tazz while the graphics load. When it comes out on the Playstation2 it will be a lot better, for that loading time will hopefully just about vanish. But its not all bad. I like running over Undertaker in the Commissionermobile.

This game has got it all including special moves like:The stunner, the worm, and even the bronco buster. If you like WWF:No Mercy or Smackdown! You will most definetly like SmackDown!2:No Your Role. Great graphics, awesome moves, and even Battle Royal.
This definetly deserves a 5 star ranking. It Rocks!!!

SmackDown! 2 is, in a word, GLORIOUS! The graphics are incredible, the move system is easy to get into (consult an online FAQ, or the Create-A-Wrestler's "Edit Moves" area rather than the instructions, to clearly understand the move situations, as the instruction booklet makes it so complicated-looking), and the music rules!

I DID have a few problems though:
1. Quite a few times, when you edit your created wrestler's moveset, the game ACTUALLY freezes on you, dumping ALL your hard work...this in SmackDown 3)
2. I DO wish that the videos were longer and that you DIDN'T have to give your created wrestler "Stone Cold Special" as your winning taunt just to hear the "full" music. (THQ has ALSO fixed this in SD3)
3. Stone Cold, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and Billy Gunn can't be put in a Championship ranking.
4. You need to use a GameShark to access unfinished characters Big Show and Ken Shamrock; to access certain Trons (like Bull Buchanan; the Crash & Hardcore video; and the SD1 version of XPac, deceptively titled "RAW is WAR")
5. You can't edit arenas like in Attitude (they STILL haven't fixed it, maybe in SD4...and there WILL be an SD4, I guaran-damn-TEE it!)
6. They should have switched this BGMs here with those from No Mercy on the N64. (they still haven't improved)
8. The Hell in a Cell is CRAP!

This is a stellar game that should be played, despite the little bugs. By all means, BUY THIS GAME (screwups notwithstanding)!

The best wrestling game on Playstation!
